Exploration and colonisation mission to Indigo or Momiji
Exploration and colonisation mission to Indigo or Momiji
What do I have to do to be able to mount one? I think that to even begin to fix micronationalism we need to start afresh, and one of the aforementioned worlds would be the perfect spot for that.

Colonisation has never, and will never be allowed. The nearest thing that has ever been done, as far as I'm aware, was having bases on Tarsica.

Why bother making the maps and saying the planets are habitable if you won't let anyone on them. >:|

The only nation still on the map that's been to Tarsica is Interland. You need to prove that you have the technology before you can even think about having a successful mission elsewhere...

Why bother mapping Mars if nobody can visit it?CJ Miller wrote:Why bother making the maps
CJ, if you spent as much time focusing on the sciences behind space exploration and the possibility of inhabiting other planets as you do whining, you'd own the Atos system by now

... and if you aren't satisfied with the Mars analogy, try this: the maps were made in times when Micras was already cluttered with overwhelmingly huge countries that showed little activity. I believe Indigo was an alternative world for smaller, not yet fully established micronations. The idea behind it fell when empires owning large parts of Micras fell.

Ok, just so I understand this: You won't allow colonization of other planets, and one has to prove that one has the technology.
On the one hand one could just make their own maps and sim their own technology. If enough nations accept this, then it becomes real.
As to technology...how does one prove one has the technology? How does a country prove anything? It's an interesting concept, that in a hobby solely based on imagination, one group could "not allow" someone to do something...
I feel controlled colonization should be allowed, given that the colonizers have the understanding of the technology needed. If there is some kind of Micras Space Agency, that sets some kind of rules, then you could control it better, and people could use their imagination within a strong and realistic constraint...

You mean like the Micronational Astronomy Society, the forum of which this thread is in? It's not just "one group" allowing or not allowing nations to do specific things, it's the official organisation in charge of the research of the rest of the Atos system. Basically, everyone who involves themselves in the MAS does so because of a passion for astronomy and (at the very least) an interest in physicsHugo wrote:If there is some kind of Micras Space Agency, that sets some kind of rules, then you could control it better, and people could use their imagination within a strong and realistic constraint...
As for the allowing colonisation and the evidence required, it's been a while since anyone's tried that I can remember but I believe there had to be adequate proof that the thought behind launching a rocket, then building, living in and sustaining the bases were the minimum requirements for research stations on Tarsica...

The most colonisation that I'd be in favour of would be allowing bases on another planet, but only if that nation has conducted enough smaller missions first.

I too would be in favour of creating research bases and such like on other planets and moons in the Solar System, under the proviso that there are laws preventing the militarisation of space and celestial bodies besides Micras.
