Referee Ruling: USSO Joint Command
Referee Ruling: USSO Joint Command
A complaint has been received about fantastical increases in claimed Jingdaoese forces at USSO Joint Command - most egregious of which are the appearance of 20 Kattei-class battleships, 40 Sheng-class cruisers, 40 Magigarp-class frigates, 1.9 million elite commandos, 250,000 field guns, 1143 Dolstier MBTs, all in less than a Daor decade (or two and a half years Ab Nortone). Even accounting for the industrial powerhouse that is Passio-Corum, these numbers in isolation breach the bounds of credibility - taken with the countless thousands of other military assets produced alongside them, they enter the realm of the quantifiably absurd.
The complaint is upheld. All Jingdaoese forces listed under USSO Joint Command are forbidden from further participation in the War of Lost Brothers until their numbers are revised to more credible levels (or, where the figures are anticipatory of future production, clarification is offered as to how much of the forces are considered combat-ready). This does not affect Jingdao's non-USSO forces.
That is all.

Re: Referee Ruling: USSO Joint Command
A complaint has been received? Seems a bit exaggerated, no? Now it sounds like we wanted to cheat and overwhelm the Shirerithians with troops falling from the sky.
I automatically assumed, and confirmed to Ardy, that those soldiers, the guns, etc. would be seen as our reserves (the ones which have been mobilised at the start of the war): the numbers were roughly the same so it makes the most sense.
We recently did massive investments with the idea to simulate the full transformation into a war economy. It's therefore not unreasonable to start supplying our reserves with the guns over a period of time (storywise nobody said that they were fabricated in less than a daor, which I myself would find unrealistic).
What I want to say, or ask: where does this leave my reservists now? I honestly don't care for any ships at this moment (and details will follow), but belief that a certain quantity is being constructed at this moment, just like in Shireroth.

Re: Referee Ruling: USSO Joint Command
My chief concern is the emergence of all those extra forces to combat-ready status at once, in a single huge logistically-impossible burst (which the USSO listings appeared to indicate). I'm not for a second inferring you're trying to cheat - it's clear you have as much of an interest in a credible narrative as the rest of us (your recent particpation proves that). If the forces listed are still in production/training for completion/deployment over a long timespan, that's fine. The problem is that they're listed as if they're ready to march into battle tomorrow - you may have an idea of what's active and what's not, but it needs to be shared with the rest of us to prevent further misunderstandings.
If a rough readiness percentage and/or production schedule is incorporated into the offending listings, I'll be happy to re-admit USSO Joint Command into the war. Given the political situation, it's better that this happens sooner rather than later.
Rest assured I don't want to deny you the use of Jingdao'slegendary hordes of banzai-screaming cannon fodder carefully-assembled reserves any longer than I have to

Yeah, my complaint/moment of tea spluttering wasn't directed at Jonas so much as the way that information had been presented. I'd subsequently enquired and we're more or less on the same page when it comes to the incremental feeding of wartime production/expendable peasants into the mincing machine.
All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.

Apologies, replying to posts after having corrected a bunch of exams is perhaps not the best idea. Makes me sound a bit... cranky.

For what it's worth, I've had a stubbornly persistent cold this week so I haven't exactly been cheerful myself
As you two appear to have arrived at a state of mutual understanding, I'll unlock the toy closet again. Forces listed under USSO Joint Command are provisionally re-admitted to the war, conditional on them coming to operational status in gradual increments, at rates commensurate with the relative costs and complexities of the units/assets concerned.
Ardy, next time you get a statistical fright may I politely suggest that you discreetly take it up with the opposing side first, and only come to me about it if you can't reach an agreement. Ta

This wasn't a wasted endeavour. Whilst I had reached an understanding with Jonas, the Prophet of Superabundance was of the opinion that the USSO Joint Command equipment could be instantaneously available to participants if they so wished. Your conditional ruling is therefore welcome.Yastreb wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2017 3:40 pmFor what it's worth, I've had a stubbornly persistent cold this week so I haven't exactly been cheerful myself

Re: Referee Ruling: USSO Joint Command
My opinion was that I had not yet updated the figures for USSO Joint Command as I have attempted to do on a monthly basis, and that this was as good a time as any, especially given the changes which have been made in recent weeks to the various brokerages. USSO Joint Command is in large part an extension of the market, and the market was updated earlier this month.Thorgils Tarjeisson wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2017 4:18 pmThis wasn't a wasted endeavour. Does this apply to the part of USSO Joint Command which is subsidized by Passio-Corum, which has not yet formally entered the war, and which hasn't submitted any OrBats? Passio-Corum has just increased its investments in order to put itself on war footing, in particular in terms of acquiring things like guns and land vehicles, and increasing the number of troops. Should these units have to be introduced on a gradual basis as well? It doesn't seem to me that they should. Granted, while if it were the case that I went in today and purchased 500,000 shares in every brokerage then it may be another story, I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to use the forces which my nation has purchased over the past week, especially given that it hasn't formally even entered the war.

Re: Referee Ruling: USSO Joint Command
Passio-Corum's Joint Command forces are far more realistic for a nation of its size, albeit at the upper end of the range when added alongside the New Zimian War League. I'd be happy to consider them as operational, provided they're not subjected to huge increases - enough new production to cover losses and develop individual units would be tolerable.NewZimiaGov wrote:Does this apply to the part of USSO Joint Command which is subsidized by Passio-Corum, which has not yet formally entered the war, and which hasn't submitted any OrBats?

Re: Referee Ruling: USSO Joint Command
Passio-Corum has expanded its investment in its own company in the market in order to finish paying off the cost of one of its ships. The expanded investment will result in a slight increase in access to weapons, which I'd like to start phasing in around the 1st. Likewise, the Strait of Haifa has made a small investment in the Common Market. I intend, unless there is official opposition, to start phasing in its weaponry within the next day or two.

Re: Referee Ruling: USSO Joint Command
That's fine, given the time elapsed.
Tiny quibble - the East Keltian Exploratory Mission's count of 80mm Field Guns appears to have jumped from 694 to 8,333 - it stands out because the other asset increases made alongside it were far more reasonable. A statistical error, perhaps?

Ok, sounds good. And yes, that is probably just an accounting error.
