Shyriath and Pawel's resignations from the Council
Due to a personal desire to reduce his micronational commitments, Shyriath has resigned from the MCS Council. We would like to greatly thank him for his contributions in both an official and unofficial capacity during his time with the MCS. As a result of this resignation, Gerald Ruze has been promoted from Junior to full Council member.

Re: Shyriath and Pawel's resignations from the Council
In an update to the Council situation, Pawel Abramowicz has also tendered his resignation from the MCS Council, citing a personal lack of time due to prioritising real-life responsibilities. As our second longest-standing Council member, Pawel's contributions to the MCS have been wide-ranging and we give him many thanks for the time he has spent in the Council.

Re: Shyriath and Pawel's resignations from the Council
Following these announcements, we at the MCS are desirous to find both a new full member and a Junior member for the Council. With no problems having been found with our approach for the last couple of position application processes, we shall continue with the following:
Applicants should, in no more than 500 words, summarise why they believe they are a suitable candidate for either Council member position and specify any individual skills which could come in handy for any prospective future projects.
The application process shall initially remain open for two weeks.

Re: Shyriath and Pawel's resignations from the Council
I believe that I would be a suitable member for the Council, preferably as a full member, and alternately as a junior member, if for some reason my becoming a full member should not come to fruition. This is because of my historical tenure in this hobby, my diligence in making contributions to various nations, and, as a so-called “Voice of Reason” my various wide ranging and insightful micro and macro perspectives that I would apply to such a role.
In this “sales pitch” for my becoming a Council member, I would like to first offer this disclaimer: I have never been the most artistic person as far as talent is concerned, merely average, a realization which came to me in the earlier grades of my secondary education, nor have I ever been someone who has for that matter enjoyed spending much of their time painting, drawing, graphic design, and computer imagery. I have edited maps for Ergonia and other nations in Paint and have done somewhat well at it, but only as a form of work, not pleasure. If appointed to the Council and asked to do so, I would be able to edit the MCS map as needed and to the extent that my average, non-Shyriath level artistic abilities would allow.
My strengths, I believe, would lie mainly in the administrative contributions and aforementioned perspectives that I would bring to the Council. There is a kind of politics involved in border disputes that requires much care and consideration. Larger nations must not be allowed to get whatever they want. Smaller nations must not be allowed to get more than their population size and activity levels would necessitate. I am an expert at reading laws and treaties and parsing threads to make judgments about what exactly is happening in a situation with respect to border and political disputes.
There is no question that our hobby is at a turning point. There was a year long decline in activity which ended some months ago but now a decline is starting again, coinciding with the summer. For many the issue is lack of time. To reinvigorate activity again will require new initiatives and applying various wide ranging perspectives which I would be able to help accomplish, as a member of the Council.
The MCS Map is in my opinion the legend, the blueprint, the Final Authority in this hobby. It is like the map in the game of Diplomacy, but more complex and therefore offering more opportunities for creativity within the gameplay. We have not even seen the fullest extent of what is possible via this unique creation. I would like to be there to help guide the result.
Please nominate and vote for me to be on the Council, it is a decision you will not regret!

Re: Shyriath and Pawel's resignations from the Council
I wish to apply. I have been a member of the Micran community for about 10 years now, in the beginning with very little success when I ran the micronation Myxosea which I think was banned from Micras for having a coupe d'état in the first day of its existence. I didn't really have much to do with the MCS after that until I took over Batavia by chance and we had the entire Batavian crisis. Since then most of my interactions with the MCS have been pleasant. Craitgod is still revered in all my projects. Regarding my skills, I think I'm adequate with the Gimp, also pretty handy with Inkscape for vectorized maps if that is ever going to be a thing.
What speaks against me? Well, I'm the one who gave Giles the title "Voice of Reason" on the Bastion Union...

Re: Shyriath and Pawel's resignations from the Council
I'm interested as well, but don't feel like writing some elaborate plan. You probably know me by now, if not, you should know that I'm fairly active and that I believe the MCS should be a servant to the nations of Micras. If you think I would be a good council member, pick me; if you prefer someone else, pick them.

Jezza does not need to apologize for giving me the title "Voice of Reason." I greatly appreciated it, like an unexpectedly uplifting Chinese fortune cookie. However, in the end, it does not matter: I am focused more on actions than fancy titles. What speaks against me? Well, I'm the one who gave Giles the title "Voice of Reason" on the Bastion Union...

I keep forgettingJezza Rasmus wrote:pretty handy with Inkscape for vectorized maps
a) that you can do that stuff on Inkscape and
b) I have Inkscape.
Might draw some up when I get the time for Senya

Inkscape is a gift from the gods. It is the best thing.

Re: Shyriath and Pawel's resignations from the Council
Ladies and Gentlemen,
After further consideration of the amount of time the role of council member would require and my present lack of enthusiasm for the graphic design aspects, I have decided to withdraw from seeking any such role on the Council. I thank the Council for providing the opportunity to share my opinion on current MCS affairs. May the Council find and select the best possible person for the role.
Sincerely,
TZ Melang

Re: Shyriath and Pawel's resignations from the Council
The Lady Sigrdrífa the Priestess hereby lodges her application for the position of (Junior) Council Member.
Aforesaid Lady has been part of the Micran community for over six years in which she has contributed to several Micran nations in various capacities, including, but not limited to, serving as Ambassador in several countries for Stormark and the Jólaslafðir.
Creating and editing graphics is one of the Lady's favourite amusements and she believes that her graphic skills are more than sufficient to make edits to the MCS map as required from time to time by the membership.
Here are some examples of my graphic work:
The Collar of the Order of the Two Sacred Rivers (for the Storjarl Hallbjörn, the Steward of Elwynn)
The Collar of the Order of the Dead Stag (for the Storjarl Hallbjörn, the Steward of Elwynn)
The Arms of Alrodey (for Lord Regent Jack Lewis of Alrodey)
The Arms of New Aquitaine (for the Prince Jonathan, Duke of New Aquitaine)
The Arms of the Ladyship of Amokolia (for myself)
The map of the Principality of Arietta (for the Storjarl Hallbjörn, the Steward of Elwynn)
The creation of this map involved the superimposing of a part of an MCS map from the map archives on the current MCS map to get the exact borders of the Principality of Arietta.

Re: Shyriath and Pawel's resignations from the Council
Applications are now closed!
The two weeks' initial period slightly overran, but it did mean that Lady Sigrdrífa's application isn't rejected automatically for being too late
It is a shame that, after an eloquent application, Giles revoked his application, but thank you to the three final applicants; Jezza, Jack and Lady Sigrdrífa. The Council shall begin internally discussion and voting on which applicants are most suited for the two vacated roles, and an announcement shall be made once a majority decision has been reached.
Thank you again to all of those who applied, and best of luck!

Re: Shyriath and Pawel's resignations from the Council
As voting stands among the current Council, one applicant is now assured of a full Council member role. The MCS would like to congratulate Jezza Rasmus on his successful application and we look forward to working with him from this moment onward!
However, voting is still ongoing for the Junior member position and the result of this shall be announced once a guaranteed outcome has been reached.
