Austbard's and Høgmårk's fora are closed, and Presburn's is 404.

The former two are closed to new members but are still active regardless, so that doesn't have any bearing on things here, but that's a bit of a piss-take for Presburn considering their recent almost-removal...

It ought to be a requirement that a micronation's forum must be both open to new members and publicly visible for it to be considered active.

Forums being open to those who undertake the post count is sorta necessary enough to be considered a requirement, but when it's the unwashed public, nations should be free to do what they like, privacy-wise...

But you can't interact with a nation with a closed forum, not even if you're an official MCS bean counter.

Unless, of course, said bean counter registered before the forum was "closed" :P

A few nations do have private subforums which I can't view though...

No, the posts just need to be confirmed by the post counter. If it was automated bots, like in the days of Spangle, that would preclude those forums. But if Crait or anyone else doing the counting can access the figures, it's better for the community to be informed about those posts than not, to have a real idea of their activity. Shireroth has *a lot* of secret posts - I mean, whole legislative/constitutional discussions that rage for pages - which would probably engorge our PPD to even higher levels, but unless they're counted in the overall forum count (which they might be?) then we're losing out. For us, this is merely a matter of ego and prestige as one of the most active states on Micras; but it is important for states nearing the 0 PPD line.

SMF includes all posts, including those in private forums, in the public statistics, and I thought that phpBB3 was the same way. If not, then perhaps the statistics aren't as accurate as originally thought.

I'm sure phpBB does too; both here and Craitland's forum post totals include hidden boards' posts :)

May I please note that the reason that we took the forum down is due to the spam issues. We are working on that.

I can set you up with a SMF-based forum as a sub-directory of micronationhistory.info if you like. SMF is rather strong against Spam bots.

Thank you for the offer! We have implemented a new system in our forum, which should do rather well against spambots. Thank you for the offer!
I'd like to sincerely apologise for our inactivity, and the state of the forum. Like I said, the forum is back online.

Everyone can have an account in Austbard or Høgmårk if they want, but those fora are written in german or norwegian, so I don't know if it has a sense.

(I can write lots of nonsense and crap in there and you wouldn't understand it anyway. )

Otherwise I had at the moment no energy to participate somewhere else in english - I just managed my own fora. Hope it will become better later, please bear with me until then.

PS:

There are no spam bots or another bots in my fora. All posts are regular and can be counted.
Thank you.
