Re: Fnord Awards 2014
I get the reference. The award itself was unclear.
Re: Fnord Awards 2014
I got a FNORD for a list of dates, and... nope, that's it. I guess it was a weak year for history.
Not that I'm ungrateful. Thanks And congratulations to all the other winners.

Jack, you asshole. You're supposed to wait until the eighth.

Really? I thought it was about having done something embarrassing.Orion wrote:It's a Monty Python reference, and it means you successfully coped with the dismemberment of Shireroth, treating it with indifference despite its severity.

Well that really was a pleasant surprise. The other nominees for Leadership were very strong, I had expected a tie between the others. Very grateful for the recognition, thank you to the judges and Ric and Rasmus for their joint nomination. I have to say I often don't feel like much of a leader, and would never list leadership as one of my defining traits. You might be confusing leadership with stubborn selfishness, but perhaps there's not much difference Thank you very much.
I think the Conflict Resolution award given to the governments of Natopia and Stormark is very well deserved. Unlike the more common in-character, fake, role play disagreements we get ourselves into, it was a long, cold, festering, and vague disagreement that had finally been resolved. It served no point, benefited neither party by spurring "healthy rivalry" or anything else that draws micronationalists to conflict. Ric was the bridge between Stormark and Natopia and he deserves the credit for this instigating peace for this one.
Congratulations to the winners! And thank you to the judges for organizing one of the few annual traditions we all still share.

That might be the saddest thing I've seen in this hobby in a long time. Nobody did anything new and noteworthy the entire year, did they?Jack wrote:Award for Best New Idea ("the Josh"): No award

Someone did, but there were more judges involved than one. In the end, this list is a concensus.SaiKar wrote:That might be the saddest thing I've seen in this hobby in a long time. New, yes. Noteworthy, not so much. It's becoming increasingly difficult to come-up with things that are game-changers for the hobby without rehashing old ideas, I fearSaiKar wrote:That might be the saddest thing I've seen in this hobby in a long time. There was only the one nomination, and the majority of judges didn't think that creating a micronation was a new ideaSaiKar wrote:That might be the saddest thing I've seen in this hobby in a long time. Nobody did anything new and noteworthy the entire year, did they?
