Fnord Awards 2014
I guess it's Fnord time again? I see that Ric led it last year, are there capable people who wish to take the lead here? I'm also willing to chair this year's judging panel if nobody else feels called to do so.
- Edit - this is the official forum of the 2014 Fnord Award.
The judging panel will this year be chaired by myself, Joe Foxon and Carl Miller will be the other judges.

No opposition to the panel of judges as stated. Sounds pretty good to me.

Re: Fnords
Very good. I would urge everyone to nominate people, since we don't have that many days left until the 1st of January.

Re: Fnord Awards 2014
I might as well get the nomination frenzy going:
Award for Economics ("the Andreas") - This is a difficult award to nominate for as economic systems are a difficult thing to manage and grow effectively, and 2014 wasn't as active as 2013 in terms of economic development in this community. Not to mention there really hasn't been an economic system that's crossed borders in years, so popularity by usage is off the table as a key consideration in making nominations. While Hamland won last year's award in this category, Pallisico Sinclair has expanded and reformed their system into an extensive simulated economy so I'd like to nominate him for his efforts in devising the system. If the judges are so grateful to allow the category to dip back into the latter part of 2013 as well, I'd like to also nominate Ross Kilder for his work as the architect of Gotzborg's economic system, which saw the bulk of its "coming-of-age" in terms of structure in late 2013 and early 2014.
Award for Art ("the Artz") - I nominate Bjorn Olsen for his incredible logo celebrating Gotzborg's 25th anniversary in 2014:
Award for Overall Achievement ("the Shane") -- I nominate Edgard Carrillo. I think this goes without saying, given his more than decade long involvement and ability to have kept Alexandria quite successful as a micronation during that time. Ed has also contributed invaluably to many other micronations. He's certainly earned this honour, I think.
That's what I have for now, I'll likely make some further ones in the other categories when I have more time to review them.

Re: Fnord Awards 2014
I nominate Krasniy for the RIMA for his hard work in forming an incredibly complete History of Goldshire.
Re: Fnord Awards 2014
Award for Economics ("the Andreas") - Opyeme Time of Hamland for his amazing work in economics and having an awesome system for Hamland.
Award for Art ("the Artz") - Bjorn Olsen for his work in Gotzborg, Ryker for his work in Shireroth with his banners and graphics.
Award for History ("the RIMA") - Stellus Yastreb in Shireroth for his work in putting together a great history of Goldshire. Or Shyriath for his work in Tieya at the Empire of Sangun and South Cibola.
Award for Leadership ("the Mortis") - I have a few people in mind for this one. Kaiser Redquill (Ryker) for handling the secessions of Kildare and Aryasht in Shireroth, Harald of Stormark for the fact that he has managed to rule over Stormark and help me in Alexandria as Regent and in putting the coup revolts down (and paying in full for the hosting that Alexandria, Hamland, and Mercury use).
Award for Literature ("the Jeremy") - Stellus Yastreb in Shireroth for his hit play on the secession of Apollonia which was HILARIOUS.
And Liam, I am very humbled and honored by your nomination. Thank you, sir.

Re: Fnord Awards 2014
Oh, and I forgot - for Conflict Resolution... I nominate Christos Eucalyptos and Emperor Nathaniel of Natopia. They've gotten a very amazing rapprochement between Stormark, Alexandria and Natopia going and the ongoing conference in Thalassa is going very well and will yield amazing results.

Re: Fnord Awards 2014
I would like to nominate the governments of Natopia and Stormark for the conflict resolution award.
Long ago, Stormark and Natopia were friends. Bad things then happened, and the relationship between Natopia and Stormark could then be described as scornful hate for each other with extreme mutual distrust. Slowly but surely that then developed to a polite but distant relationship. The past year, however, has seen remarkable progress in thawing the relationship and allowing the two governments to see each other as friends. A comprehensive treaty between the two was entered to, and visits from respective government to the other are now a regular part of the interaction between the two countries. Further, this warming of relations has allowed Alexandria (Stormark's greatest ally) and Natopia, traditionally skeptical of each other for many reasons (Novasolum, Raspur, etc), to also find a deeper friendship. A tripartite conference is currently underway in Natopia between Alexandria, Natopia and Stormark to work out a common set of standards in fictional history, geography and so on, for their shared continent Tapfer.

Re: Fnord Awards 2014
Pfff... my Goldshirian history stuff is as half-assed as it's possible to get. But if you guys insist...
Anyway my own nominations. Forgive my blanket nomination of Bastionados - I don't get out much (best MiniEx EVAR!)
Award for Conflict Resolution ("the Beard"):
Janus Eadric (Edgard), for being the last man to hold onto his sanity in Shireroth's Imperial Advisory Council when Kildare seceded, and moving to normalise the situation in the Landsraad while the rest of us were still spouting steam from our ears - thereby preventing a protracted and bloody conflict. I also nominate Rasmus for pretty much the same thing.
Award for Art ("the Artz"):
Trajan Myksos (Jonas), for his map of Apollo City and the Apollonian Confederation forum scheme in general. They are pretty things.
Award for Journalism ("the Iain"):
Jack, for the provocative Micras Observer (I'm not even kidding. Got us all talking, didn't he?)
... and I happily second the nomination of Kaiser Redquill for the Mortis Leadership Award. He's the only reason Shireroth is still a thing.

Re: Fnord Awards 2014
I also second these nominations. Jonas really did kickass with that Apollo City map and the aesthetics of the AC; and Jack as well for providing much-needed new perspectives on Micran events and triggering conversations on those subjects.Yastreb wrote:Award for Art ("the Artz"):
