Ending War Story
Could someone knowledged-person inform the rest of us unknowledged-people what the ending story is going to be?
We wouldn't want to spoil that story by doing something silly, like managing to destroy the Omen!

We'd have included you from the beginning if you weren't being all "hay guyz lets attack countries that cant defend themselves due to ruling loopholes loooool"
Basically all the plans just pretend you never entered the war. I have no sympathy at this point.

Re: Ending War Story
It involves Provos Island, and Antigravity, and a punch that a mere 150 missiles could never pack

Re: Ending War Story
If it involves Provost Island floating into the air, I'll veto the move as judge. Already the Omen has broken a number of the pre-war rules drawn up about it and its abilities and I'm not particularly pleased about it, especially as it is common courtesy not to hoodwink the judge.

Your opinion on the matter is appreciated but ultimately irrelivent and won't get in the way of a few months of planning. The Omen is my unit; I will have it destroyed how I see fit.

So in answer to the question the war ends with bitching and feeble attempts at litigation... much like Gaza.

About Montague's post, remember, this is in essence Nelaga's war. They engineered it, and you guys just happily joined. I think we should be allowed to end it as planned (bearing in mind I don't actually know the ending yet as a I say this), since it's not gonna be something that wouldn't work in 'real life' + anti-grav engines.

Re: Ending War Story
Its not the that fact that has annoyed me Nicholas as I've given a large amount of room for Harvey to get the Omen to work within the rules. The reasons for my opposition to this is the following is:
1. I was informed that the Omen had poor manouevrablity (pardon my awful spelling but I'm rushing). Subsequently, the Omen has moved hundreds of miles across combat zone AND has performed this Sargasso manouevre which seems to make the Omen spin on its axis like that christmas tree thing from a Dr. Who Christmas Special.
2. I was told the city destroying laser was inoperable and would not be used in this war. Subsequently, the Omen has fired the laser and destroyed a city.
3. I was told the Omen would be the only thing like itself in this war. It appears that this is about to change.
I said it before in my first post on the matter that it is a matter of politeness and courtesy for the judge to be informed of this, which hasn't happened bar the brief period in which Andreas was judge and he's only informed because he's in on it. If I had been informed perhaps a more suitable compromise could have been arranged regarding these previously undeclared abilities, but alas it appears not. You all know that if anybody else had put undeclared abilities in their orbat then they would have been strung up for it now. Extreme's use of the Osprey's was mediated between the two combatants but if it had been brought before me properly, I would have deemed the move illegal.
I'm still willing to come to a compromise agreement on whatever this backstory involves so long as it fits in the rules though.
P.S Harvey, please don't get uppity. You and I had quite a reasonable rapport when the war started and I wouldn't like to see that fall away.

Re: Ending War Story
I was hoping we could avoid slugging out our differences until after the war's conclusion. As such, I will only respond to the claims you have made against me directly. Do know that I have considerably objections to your own actions in the war.
1) poor maneuverability means it can't weave and dodge anything shot at it by out-maneuvering it. That doesn't mean it's immobile! By the charter rules, naval ships (which I would also say have poor maneuverability) are allowed to move 500 pixels at sea every single day. I have moved far far slower than that, on purpose. I left Ardy's Reach on Jan 25 and arrived somewhere close to Nova Kajar on Feb 2nd, eight days later. Assuming we're still using the general rule of thumb that 1 pixel = 1 mile, and I moved about a distance of about 150 miles (give or take), that's still less than one mile an hour. You can walk faster than that. You can probably crawl faster than that. How much freaking slower do you expect me to go?
And yes, it can rotate. Amazing. It wasn't spinning overly fast, mind you. A lot of the post was imagery to try to give a feel for how absurd it must have looked when it was happening. But at that point I'd seen about one too many missile barrages in this war, since everyone just wants to shoot a bunch of missiles rather than come up with any real tactics. For frick's sake, everyone's been shooting cruise missiles at it like it's a fixed structure. It's not. Nobody else would tolerate this sort of attack on their units but apparently I'm supposed to. Especially after your post about how your unit is so elite that they can shoot down every missile perfectly, I figured it was about time for me to get with the program and stop taking stupid damage because I'm trying to be fair. There are a ton of ways to damage the Omen that I would have accepted, but nobody even tried anything other than missiles en mass. Considering the design of the Omen is more about defense than offense, I have no problem swatting them from the sky.
2) I told you the Omen's laser was completely inoperable due to a lack of parts and technicians. These problems were fixed for me when Andreas gave me a large team of Novatainian engineers to help repair it, and there was a large period of time when the Omen was just sitting there not being attacked.. Even after repairs, the laser ran at extremely reduced capabilities and cripple the Omen after being used.
But really, when it's all said and done, using the Omen big laser is pretty much like 24-houring a location. The damage done by the laser is probably less than a full day's barrage of missiles from an offshore attack or a decent sized column of tanks. Since I'd been hovering over Ardy's Reach for like a week, I figured it was a fair move, and (God forbid) wanted to make it more interesting than just blasting at the thing with missiles. There's no point in playing an exotic unit if you can't use your unusual capabilities.
The laser being online was mostly a product of public demand. A lot of people kept asking me if I'd use it at least once, so I figured out a way to make it feasable without being overbalanced.
3) I'm not sure what you're talking about with this, so I'll skip it.
But seriously, the Omen has a million tactical disadvanatages. It can't perform the all-powerful secret location move without being obviously abusing the rules. It is outranged by essentially anything in sea or air. It can't adaquetly defend itself when there are friendly targets around. It has certain structural weaknesses that never even came into play. And even on top of these, I've been trying to tone it down with less agressive tactics and mechanical failure. That doesn't mean I'm just going to let everyone flinging rocks at it do massive damage and shoot me down, especially considering how stingy everyone else has been regarding attacks on their own units.
I'm trying not to hold anyone personally responsibile for behavior I find totally unacceptable, but it is clear that recwarring charters need considerable refinement.

Re: Ending War Story
Monty, after Harvey fired the laser on Ardy's Reach, I'd have said the war was basically over, or at least meant to be. People played out other stuff (Artz landing on Nelaga didn't help), but backstory wise our side was all ready to finish it from there. Then things happened and we got bogged down in the Extreme/North battle ... and it got delayed until now. Now we're back to basically full backstory type stuff, so I figure the Omen can do whatever it needs to be destroyed in the way Scott's backstory (best backstory of the war, in my opinion) has been leading up to.
Remember, this is a war in the Shirithian sense. It means everyone knows who's going to win at the end and the end is planned between the major starting players (Batavie, Shireroth, Novatainia, Nelaga). It's not one where victory is optional ... it's primarily a friendly war between friends. Friends' who'll tolerate an all-powerful Omen now and then.
