Re: OrBat: The Hammish Peacekeeping force
Well, the point of the existing defences is that they're publicly known, because they're meant to be things like walls, tunnels etc (people don't know exactly where your tunnels are, but they know you have them if you do). If you've got things like an army base with SAMs, you have to orbat them and can just do it as a secret move. So, either produce a map with only public defences (like, for example, Novatainia has done with their tunnels) or just explain the defence without a map. Or don't use it. But don't keep it hidden and then use it if people invade.Lewis wrote:I have thought this, however, the map which contains our defences, also contains information on where every airfield is, every barracks, every silo, every port etc is and therefore releasing it would be giving the public an unprecidented mount of knowledge of our military network. One of which I haven't seen from any other nation. This is what I seek to clarify.extreme007 wrote:You have to post it publically... though i dont think there's a rule that requires you to do that.. but it would still be nice. its sort of a gentlemanly way of doing it.
plus, i am sure most of these things would be known to the public anyway... after all, i am sure the russians or germans would know of the defenses around london or the us for instance! its not like the germans would suddenly be, "Oh wow. I didn't know that london had an underground that couldn't be bombed. damn. i shouldn't have sent in the luftwafe!"

This is fairly basic: make a map that you are happy for people to see. If you don't choose to publish certain things, then you can't use them. Simple.

I expect other nations to release similar information. (It matters less now than it used to)

A standard design of fortification. The larger one is different. They usually look similar to these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Albania_bunkers.jpg and they also have pre-made trenches and artillery positions."notable defense structure" consists of...?

I don't understand this secrecy. There is a point of letting your enemies know your defenses (not ALL of course) so they are discouraged of trying to attack you.
