Fnords 2015
Seeing that no one else has taken this one... I will this season organize the Fnord Awards for 2015.
I WANT NOMINATIONS
Award for Best New Idea ("the Josh")
Award for Conflict Resolution ("the Beard")
Award for Cultural Development:
Award for Economics ("the Andreas")
Award for Art ("the Artz")
Award for History ("the RIMA")
Award for Journalism ("the Iain")
Award for Leadership ("the Mortis")
Award for Literature ("the Jeremy")
Award for Sport (which I propose nicknaming "the Craitman")
Award for Most Promising New Micronation
Award for Most Promising New Micronationalist ("the Liam")
Award for Overall Achievement ("the Shane")
Award for "'Tis but a flesh wound"
The drill is as it usually is when I am in charge. I will head a committee of judges, and I would like them to be diverse and good. I will myself not vote, unless there is a tie among the judges, but will moderate the discussions and announce the winner on Fnord Day (Jan 8 ).
Submit nominations now! (preferably with some kind of motivation too, and links where necessary).
Submit nominations (or self-nominations) for judges too.

Re: Fnords 2015
I propose we stop this, it was embarrassing enough last year. Seriously.
Re: Fnords 2015
Good initiative, given the astonishing succes of last year's FNORD's, I can only applaud this!
Seriously though, I will join the judges comittee if you'd like me to.

If you really think that's the case, nominate the FNORDs for "Tis But a Flesh Wound"Jezza Rasmus wrote:I propose we stop this, it was embarrassing enough last year. Seriously.

Re: Fnords 2015
I'll try to come up with some nominations next week once I'm no longer living in hotels.
This will be the 14th annual FNORD Awards if I'm not mistaken. That's quite the accomplishment for our community regardless of personal opinions regarding the awards' continued viability. I would suggest that the fact that we've been able to organize such community appreciation awards for so long, despite the fact that we can all be quite indifferent to each other's efforts at the best of times, that's something to celebrate, not ridicule through nominating the FNORDs for 'Tis but a flesh wound.
It was a struggle in some categories last year to find suitable nominees. I'd suggest this year that we reduce the number of awards, so as to allow a greater field of nominees for each. There are a number of current awards (literature / history / culture / art ) that could be combined into just one award. That would result in more than one nominee per existing category and make the awards less irrelevant in those areas.

I've not judged for a couple of years, so I might as well if you need
I've got a couple of nominations to put forward once I get back home from the insanity that is working on Boxing Day as well...

I self-nominate for judge, let's put my money where my mouth is.

I can't remember a single time when all categories were actually awarded, I suppose it's to help people dig up stuff to nominate. Nothing stops the Judges' committee to make new or strike any categories, as has also happened several times.
Looking forward to the nominations.
