Re: [New forum] Getting this done
Well, they could be underlined at least. And the other thing is about boards' icons - for me "there are new posts on this board" icon has still not enough contrast.

I concur with the issues already cited, but those are easy enough to fix.
The graphics do seem a bit glossy but are, overall, an improvement in quality over the MCS skin. The "HUB.MN" header does seem a bit bland, but I suppose we can work on that. Maybe have a logo competition?

Re: [New forum] Getting this done
As an extenstion to Ryan's question, is every subforum (at least the independent groups' boards) allowed to have its own theme? I've noticed the MCS still has its old theme when you go onto its boards, so I was wondering if we could design themes for the other organisations we're involved in (so the FMS, for example, could have a different theme, etc)?

Well, as far as I know phpBB has an option to do so. We just need themes to be installed (and possibly designed first)

Re: [New forum] Getting this done
It's quite easy to do, and exactly what Bastion has done with each of its countries (I'm a big fan of this after having done it originally in Gralus). It becomes slightly more complex if the board has mods that need manual modding of the style code, because then you have to do that for each new style. But adding a couple new, unmodded styles is really easy; and changing the logo on existing styles between boards is even easier. So, for example, the MAS could have the MCS theme with a different logo at the top.Craitman wrote:As an extenstion to Ryan's question, is every subforum (at least the independent groups' boards) allowed to have its own theme? Re: [New forum] Getting this done
A while back I suggested some kind of antique-looking version of an MCS map- or at a scratch, the Quetzal Map could do- for a forum background, with perhaps a light blue forum skin with the MCS logo for board logos (glowing orange for new posts).
The website is looking nice but I have two concerns:
- Do we really need advertisements in the header?
- Can we have MicrasWiki updates instead of MicroWiki updates?

Also exactly what the MCS board has done on here
So updates we want:
-New new topic icons, I think we have the start of that already.. Cairney's made a few images already, I'll look into making the remainder ones if he doesn't want to
-Making links more obvious
I think if any organisations find styles they want, they can have them

Yeah, perhaps we should, I can't see that it's right to exclude MicrasWiki (but at the time time ignoring MicroWiki seems like a bad idea )
Re: [New forum] Getting this done
Why not have updates from both wikis?

Re: [New forum] Getting this done
well, give me the code you use, and I could do this - but considering the debate on whether we should be a hub for MicroWiki nations as well, I'd rather have only MicrasWiki there.

Re: [New forum] Getting this done
In all fairness, a lot of nations here have MicroWiki articles (and a couple are/were primarily based there; Wyke, Mondero, Eruditia, etc), so I think it'd be stupid to just include MicrasWiki on the Hub (even if it is our wiki)
Re: [New forum] Getting this done
Members of this Sector developed this hub, and for the time being the vast majority of users of this hub are from the Micran Sector- MicrasWiki should take precedence over MicroWiki. MicrasWiki still has a lot of work to be done on it and since MicroWiki is having hosting issues and has put a lot of simulationist micronation articles up for deletion I think the case for MicrasWiki to have precedence is a much stronger one.
It may be hard for those who haven't done work on MicrasWiki to understand but when you've really worked hard to build up a repository of articles for this community it's quite disheartening to see the development project gain nothing from this new website and forum change which affords us more publicity...

Re: [New forum] Getting this done
If we are going to be a Hub, then precedence should not be a factor, and we should act like a hub and include update feeds for both wikis. I think both wikis are of equal importance to the functions this hub serves, and therefore both need to be included.
Re: [New forum] Getting this done
That sounds perfectly reasonable- bring on the battle of the Wiki Feeds then!
