[New forum] Administrators and moderators

Re: [New forum] Administrators and moderators
I'd volunteer my time but I fear I've spread my micronational activity too thin as it is. Though to be honest, isn't our current contingent of moderators and admins enough? It has been for a long time now. Realistically, do you expect such a massive influx of new people simply because of a URL and layout change? Enough of one to start adding moderators? If so, carry on. If not, lets not become too top heavy.

Re: [New forum] Administrators and moderators
I think it was a joke; the hub is now separate from the MCS anyway.Ryan wrote:Is this meant as a joke or are you being serious?Scott Alexander wrote:Although if Ryan becomes a mod, I should be too, if only to prevent him from abusing his power to add more frickin' islands.
Scott's snide remarks aside, are we going to implement a safety net for admins and mods to ensure if someone goes inactive there will be ample manpower available to continue running things seamlessly?
The hub charter provides that:
As long as we have enough people to keep going whilst a new person is selected, I think that'll be fine.If a staff member knows they will be inactive for a long period of time, they are expected to resign their position. If a staff member is inactive for a period longer than thirty days, exhibits obvious bias in a ruling, or is guilty of gross misconduct and/or abuse of privileges, the community may, by consensus, decide that they shall be removed from their position.
The MCS staff =/= the hub staff, we're selecting new staff members for the new forum.Einhorn wrote:I'd volunteer my time but I fear I've spread my micronational activity too thin as it is. Fair enough. Though I agree with Scotts notion. Anyone who expresses interest in really wanting to be a moderator or an administrator shouldn't be considered because they basically want to be/will be a Kolya Radchenko (too obscure?).

Re: [New forum] Administrators and moderators
I only put my own name forward as I'm a current admin and think I do a good enough job

I think we should be wary of simply assuming that because someone puts their own name forward for a job they are automatically unacceptable. Whilst it is to an extent true that the best administrators sometimes rise up from a community without a campaign or fanfare, just suggesting your own name as a statement of wilingness to do the job isn't quite so bad!

It now having been over a week, does anyone have anything further to add?
Re: [New forum] Administrators and moderators
I would quite like to be moderator of Website Administration. I imagine that's where everything concerning the Hosting/Hosted Sites would be operated from, no?

Forum-specific moderators are done on a case-by-case basis.
