New Paradigm Claimsmap :: Scratchpad
As per the topic, expect random blathering about the New Paradigm Claimsmap.
The highest point on Micras is Mt Medivh in Ashkenatza at 8089 m (26,539 ft), but that's irrelevant for all but physmap terrain coloring.
What's the lowest point on Micras???

Re: New Paradigm Claimsmap :: Scratchpad
These symbols aren't Paint users friendly... It means most of claimants won't be able to copy'n'paste these for their claim...
I'll present my set asap.

I was planning on it being done in something like Photoshop/Paint.NET/etc.

Re: New Paradigm Claimsmap :: Scratchpad
As long as it can easily be done in classic Paint too, then it's a good thing. Pretty much everyone has that and even complete novices can knock-up a simple claim on itCJ Miller wrote:I was planning on it being done in something like Photoshop/Paint.NET/etc.

Re: New Paradigm Claimsmap :: Scratchpad
As I thought: It wouldn't be paint-friendly. CJ Miller, you must understand that hardly anyone has a legal photoshop and Paint.NET and GIMP aren't popular (and some people like one of my friends just hate them for their interface - which I find easy and intuitive). We can make it in those, of course, but the symbols must be pixel-icious for backwards-compatibility.

Re: New Paradigm Claimsmap :: Scratchpad
Do it in GIMP or Paint.NET as they're free.

Re: New Paradigm Claimsmap :: Scratchpad
I am doing it in Paint.NET -- I'll probably only transfer it to Photoshop when I need to do layers.

Anyways, I made my set:

I added "Town" symbol which better reflects status of some Interlandian "cities" - and I think that it can be useful for other places, too. They're easy to copy'n'paste (oh, will be - I forgot that I have to make background for the symbols a bit gray) or even paint. I haven't changed terrorists and rebel symbols because I don't think it's important now. Also, I'm working on a script that should be able to change all the current symbols automatically.

Re: New Paradigm Claimsmap :: Scratchpad
As nice as that is, that still technically falls under "old style claimsmap". I'm trying to make a completely new map, with as little influence from the old version as possible.

Re: New Paradigm Claimsmap :: Scratchpad
I heard you, I merely disagreed. Or perhaps I agreed - I also find them relatively easy and intuitive (and free) and therefore worthy of use. Whereas if we go with photoshop, we lose at least half the community's ability to edit. Whereas Paint.NET and GIMP, even if unpopular, have to be counted as better than Paint (in most things at least) for having layers.pawelabrams wrote:I wrote:and Paint.NET and GIMP aren't popular (and some people like one of my friends just hate them for their interface - which I find easy and intuitive)I feel ignoredAndreas the Wise wrote:Do it in GIMP or Paint.NET as they're free.

Re: New Paradigm Claimsmap :: Scratchpad
While they're three good symbols, they're ... three good symbols. Are you sure you want that much difference designated by text and not symbolic?

Quite a few macronational atlases do much the same thing.
