Group A
Copa Apollonia hosts Lakkvia face a tough challenge in their opening group game, facing a Senya side that breezed through it's qualifying group and had only lost two of their last 21 competitive games, nevertheless, it was Lakkvia that came out of the blocks the quickest, with Aki Mäenpää challenging Sileman Bɏankarlënœ with a palm-stinging shot in the opening exchanges. Mäenpää again piled pressure onto the Senyan defence, forcing a fingertip save just shy of the quarter-hour mark, with Dan Brozal's tame effort a couple of minutes later being Senya's worst threat to the Lakkvian goal so far. Miklu Loresen was called into action again soon after, this time deflecting a Minyorletsken header over the bar for a corner. Senya were unable to capitalise, and Lakkvia broke away with Thomas Päuu, feeding in Mäenpää who was able to calmly finish for the opening goal. The Senyans pressed quickly, hoping for an equalising goal, and were unlucky to see the linesman's flag raised when Minyorletsken rose highest for a Barnaby Hands cross, replays showed him to be inches offside. The Lakkvian defence would bend, but not break, as they closed the first half with a clean sheet.
The hosts were boosted by the fact they remained a goal up, and nearly went two clear as Viðarsson's powerful strike went just wide of the mark. Senya were still pressing, and when Jan Maytek drew a foul from Eirik Vanadisarson on the edge of the area, Barnaby Hands stepped up and curled the resulting free kick just out of reach of Loresen to make it 1-1. It seemed as though it was going to be Senya's day, as they went 2-1 up thanks to a comical error from Loresen just minutes later, Maytek crossing the ball in, Loresen punching the ball high into the air, only to see it come back down and head into his own goal. It should have been game over with 20 minutes to go, as Dan Brozal skied his shot when one-on-one with Loresen, rounding off a poor performance, as he was substituted immediately after. Jack Smith came on, hoping to kill the game off, but was a little over-eager, and became the first name in the referee's book after a careless tackle on Niinästö. The game seemed to be swinging back towards Lakkvia towards the end, but Senya's defence held strong, as they were able to secure the three points despite a nervy opening game.
Lakkvia 1-2 Senya
21' - Mäenpää
59' - Hands
64' - Loresen (o.g.)
Group BFort Kolgrad's maiden outing in a major tournament ended in defeat despite a valiant effort against a strong Gotzborg team. Reuben Frederiksen tested the keeper Hans Schmitt early on with a volley from the edge of the box before Stephan Bayer volleyed over from 12 yards. Gotzborg had their chances too, the best of which in the first half falling to experienced striker Kristian Jentzsch, but his half-volley was headed off the line by Matthias Sagner.
The second half saw Fort Kolgrad denied a penalty appealy, as Bayer struck a ball against the hand of Leon Anke, and though television replays showed that the Zandarijn-based man moved his hand to the ball, the referee failed to give it. Fort Kolgrad's endeavour and attacking football left them susceptible to the counter, and with under a quarter of an hour to go, they were punished, as Sebastian Metzelsacker's clearance fell kindly for substitute Vladimir Alenikov, who ran into the box before squaring in Jentzsch for a tap-in. Gotzborg sealed the result in the final minute as Maxime Burkhardt was left unmarked at a corner, which the Morfaga North Rangers midfielder made no mistake in heading into the top left corner to seal a win for his nation.
Fort Kolgrad 0-2 Gotzborg
77' - Jentzsch
90' - Burkhardt
A rampant Gerenian side tore apart Flanders who rarely looked like troubling their opponent's net. The first goal came from a Zelmar Toscano cross, which deceived the defence to bounce in off the far post after the ball had been headed out from a free-kick. Despite some resiliant defending, Gerenia found themselves 2-0 up at half time as Karl Brükner stabbed the ball home in a melee in the box. Brükner grabbed his second and Gerenia's third ten minutes into the second half as his long range effort from 35 yards somehow slipped under the fingertips of Micael Zand, before 15 minutes later Zorau Pánčaster volleyed in from the edge of the box. Gerenia could have extended their lead futher, but elected to substitute some of their key players for future games, and the match fizzled out as Gerenia made a statement of intent.
Flanders 0-4 Gerenia
13' - Toscano
44' - Brükner
56' - Brükner
71' - Pánčaster
A poor surface might have been to blame as Stormark and Neo Patrova inexplicably played out a half of football which saw neither side register a shot and with players spending more time on the floor than creating chances. Of note were some crunching challengers, particuarly from the more experienced Storish side, but Neo Patrova's Billy Mac was lucky not to see red after mistiming a challenge and catching Stefalian Brégy square in the chest with his studs. The second half finally saw the teams settle down, but an illtempered affair was handled well by a River Warrior referee who elected to keep his cards in his pocket. Indeed it was no suprise that the goal, when it did come, came from a penalty, with Alan Siggurdson appearing to have his arm around the neck of Erik Thorstvedt at a corner kick, preventing the striker from getting a header in. Bjarne Jensen's original penalty was saved by the keeper, but he managed to rifle the rebound into the top corner. Neo Patrova tried to find a winner, but lacked quality in the final third, with their best chance happening in the 84th minute when Paulo Suarez's volley rattled the crossbar, but it was too little too late as Stormark held on for the three points.
Neo Patrova 0-1 Stormark

Lakkvia may feel somewhat dissapointed to have only got a point out of their match with Gotzborg having dominated for the first 80 minutes. Kristján Viðarsson in fact probably should have scored within a minute, striking the ball onto the crossbar from just outside of the area, with the keeper scrambling. But Hans Schmitt, a title winner in Senya last season with Dyas Scitenhima Ĵets, showed his quality by making a string of quality saves. First he acrobatically tipped over a long range strike from Aki Mäenpää before a fantastic double save kept out first Gustav Eiðursson and then Freddie Vorgensen from close range. Lakkvia continued their dominance into the second half, with the bar again coming to Gotzborg's rescue as a free header from Tommy Gamst-Pedersen crashed against it. However, the dominant hosts eventually managed to manufacture a goal, when Kristján Viðarsson ran into the box, superbly beating several defenders in the process, before slotting the ball into the bottom right corner beyond Schmitt. Lakkvia were then unlucky not to double their lead, as Mika Førvossen's effort was headed off the line by Charles deMontford. But despite having been second best all match, Gotzborg managed to somehow find an equaliser as Lakkvia gave the ball away cheaply in the midfield, with Dominick Halbach running to the edge of the box, with his cross deflecting back to Conrad Hahnel, who smashed the ball into the top corner from 16 yards out. Lakkvia may have felt unlucky, but they almost lost the match as in stoppage time Jürgen Littbarski miskicked the ball onto the post when he had a tap-in from 3 yards out. Lakkvia will require a big win against Fort Kolgrad to go through, and hope Senya will do them a favour on the final day.
Lakkvia 1-1 Gotzborg
62' - Viðarsson
81' - Hahnel
Group BSenya booked their place in the semi-finals with two goals in four minutes towards the end of the first half. Having lost 7-1 in a recent friendly, Fort Kolgrad were aiming to avoid making the same mistakes as before, and were perhaps unlucky not to go infront as Jan Jankola headed over from close range inside ten minutes. Senya were looking frustrated, with Dan Brozal, who had had a poor opening game, was receiving little service from the Senyan midfield five. But before they could get a foothold in the game, Senya suffered a dissapointing blow, as a challenge from Florian Kluge saw Brozal break his ankle. The Dyas Scitenhima Ĵets left the field on a stretcher with just 19 minutes played, with FK Tiga's Alesandrœ Danetskë coming on in his place. But 23-year-old was able to make an impact, and with eight minutes to go before the break managed to use his strength to get clear of a defender before firing a strike into the near post to put Senya 1-0 up. Fort Kolgrad seemed stunned, and practically allowed Senya to get in behind them three minutes later, as Barnaby Hands finished off a slick 20-pass move by slotting into the bottom corner past Marcel Amsel. But having seen the horror of Dan Brozal's early injury, Senya declined to risk key players, with Hands going off at half-time and Jan Maytek midway through the second. Senya died the game down as Fort Kolgrad tried to look for a way back into it, with perhaps the only real chance of note in a fairly dull second period occuring when substitute Domonik Ƨarkœvič broke into the box before stinging Amsel's gloves with a rasping effort ten minutes from time. That result means that Senya just need to ensure they don't lose to Gotzborg in the final group game to seal top spot in the group and surely avoid a disasterous repeat of 2014 when they met (and were eliminated by) Gerenia in the semi-finals.
Senya 2-0 Fort Kolgrad
37' - Danetskë
40' - Hands
Having lost their opening games, both sides knew that only a win would keep any realistic chance of making the semi-finals alive. And a more experienced Flanders side took that chance by the scruff of the neck as they grabbed the only goal of the game inside 11 minutes, as Omar Westerlo found himself unmarked from a corner kick to rise up and header home. Neo Petrova found themselves much more in this game than their 1-0 defeat to Stormark, but again failed to take chances as both Ronan McCall and Paul Ingram failed to hit the target with shots from inside the box. Flanders seemed fairly content to hang on to their advantage, but Neo Petrova just couldn't get going and the game fizzled out fairly quickly, despite Neo Petrova knowing they would be heading home with a defeat. A late Alan Siggurdson flashed wide from a corner was about all they could muster, as their first major tournament ends in bitter dissapointment.
Flanders 1-0 Neo Patrova
11' - Westerlo
Gerenia sealed a third-consecutive Copa Apollonia semi-final by beating a resiliant Stormark side. After pounding Flanders 4-0 in their opener, they seemed like they were on a mission to repeat that feat early on as Fabris Balbîn was able to work half a yard of space in the box to fire through a defender's legs and past the goalie into the bottom left corner inside 15 minutes. But Stormark proved otherwise hard to break-down, as Ilmjerstadt Lekallaviestadt and Gaeton Osvold proved to be pulling off a good partnership in the centre of defence. A frustrated Gerenia side routinely had their crosses headed clear and shots blocked as Stormark did everything in their power to keep themselves in the game. In fact, Storish Dynamite, as they are affectionately known, were perhaps unlucky to fail to master a goal of their own, as Erik Thorstvedt's strike just before half-time drew a fantastic save from Režan Arkuse in the Gerenian goal. The second half continued to see Stormark defend well, but Gerenia dominated, with Zelmar Toscano seeing an effort cleared off the line before Francesco Valencia hit the post from close range. But with Stormark needing a goal late on, spaces started to open up and Toscano ran the length of the pitch in a swift counter attacking move before slotting the ball cooly between the keeper's legs to seal a hard fought Gerenian win.
Gerenia 2-0 Stormark
14' - Balbîn
87' - Toscano

Brozal out for the rest of the tournament
Dan Brozal has been ruled out of the rest of the Copa Apollonia having broken his ankle in the group stage game against Fort Kolgrad. Brozal, who's selection had been somewhat controvertial with the fans as he had been placed in the starting line-up ahead of 2015 World Cup leading scorer Alesandrœ Danetskë, will return to Senya to undergo medical treatment.
"He's a big blow to lose for the rest of the tournament" said Senya manager Draco Sanchez. "But sometimes these things happen and we need to get on with it. I know Alesandrœ [Danetskë] and Jack [Smith] will step up now and try to help us achieve our objectives of winning the group and the tournament as a whole. But on a personal note for Dan, it's obviously a cruel blow".
Brozal, who was the leading scorer in the Senyan Top League last season as he helped his club side Dyas Scitenhima Ĵets to the league title, has yet to comment.

Hosts Lakkvia went into their final game knowing that only a win would be enough to advance, and only if Gotzborg were beaten by the very strong looking Senyans. Fort Kolgrad, already eliminated, were just looking to put some points on the board, having not yet even scored a goal in the competition so far. The early exchanges gave every impression that this was unlikely to change, as the Lakkvians controlled the ball well, but their forays into the opposing half were futile, as Marcel Amsel was barely troubled. Fort Kolgrad had a good chance to take the lead, midway into the first half, but Jan Jankola was adjudged to have pulled back Eirik Vanadisarson to give away a free kick. As the fairly uneventful half drew to a close, neither side looked like breaking the deadlock.
Half time: Lakkvia 0-0 Fort Kolgrad
In the day's other game, Senya played Gotzborg, with the latter only needing a point to secure their place in the semi-finals. Senya had already qualified, but also needed a point to avoid a semi-final matchup with rivals Gerenia, and it was they who had the best of the early chances, with Alesandrœ Danetskë hitting the bar from 18 yards out. Hans Schmitt had further questions asked of him, but was equal to the shots from Danetskë and a Hands free kick. Gotzborg had their first real chance, as Dominick Halbardt played a long ball forward to Jentzsch, who would have scored but for the fingertip of Sileman Bɏankarlënœ.
Half time: Gotzborg 0-0 Senya
Lakkvia 3-1 Fort KolgradLakkvia came back out for the second half, knowing the score from the other game. This seemed to increase the determination from the hosts, and it was not long before they finally broke the deadlock, with Kristján Viðarsson heading in from close range. He soon grabbed his second thanks to some sloppy defending from Fort Kolgrad, Matthias Sagner gifting the ball to Viðarsson for him to slot it home. The game was over after Aki Mäenpää converted a penalty after Benjamin Schaefer brought him down in the area. Fort Kolgrad were able to grab a consolation goal three minutes from time, but Lakkvia had done their job, and now relied on the result from the other game.

Gotzborg 1-0 SenyaNews came through from Fiskjarmannastrand that the other game was 0-0 at half time, so Gotzborg would not necessarily be eliminated with a defeat, but it didn't seem like that prospect was on their minds as they came out for the second half. They almost managed to take the lead through Jentzsch, but a last ditch tackle from Jær Van Kotrisbond put the ball out for a corner, which ultimately came to nothing. Senya looked a bit more nervy in the second half, and it showed when Danetskë was put one-on-one with the keeper and put his shot well over the bar. Those nerves were not helped when Jentzsch put Gotzborg 1-0 up, meaning they would have to concede twice to be eliminated. That never really looked like happening, as Senya were unable to break Gotzborg down, and both sides progressed to the semi-finals, Gotzborg as group winners.
63' - Jentzsch
Group B
Gerenia 3-2 Neo PatrovaAn unbeaten Gerenia side faced a Neo Patrova side without a goal to its name in the group's dead rubber. With nothing at stake, Gerenia seemed very relaxed on the ball, and were patient moving it up field, but still took an early lead through Karl Brükner. He grabbed a second goal after sent clean through on goal by Francesco Valencia just ten minutes later. The Neo Patrovans managed to get their first goal of the tournament just before half time, Paulo Suarez with a tap-in after Arkuse was left stranded.
Following their goal in the first half, the Neo Patrovans played with a lot more confidence in the second half, and came close to an equaliser when Ronan McCall strayed offside. Gerenia had a close chance as well, as Brükner narrowly missed out on a hat-trick thanks to a fine save from John Main. With chances in the second half seeming few and far between, it looked as though the second half was going to finish as it started, but for a moment of brilliance from Alan Siggurdson, taking the ball from inside his own half, beating four defenders on the way, before squaring the ball across for Suarez to take his second goal. With Gerenia's 100% record under threat, they threw everything forward in the hope of snatching a winner, and with seconds left on the clock, they did just that, Zelmar Toscano thundering in a volley from just inside the area.

Stormark 1-2 FlandersIn contrast to the group's other game, this one had everything riding on it, with both Flanders and Stormark sitting on three points. The winner would progress to the semi-finals, although Stormark would still get through with a draw by virtue of goal difference. With so much at stake, it was no surprise that Stefalian Brégy's over-eager challenge earned him an early booking. Flanders had the better of the possession in the first quarter of an hour, but neither side had any real chances. It wasn't until midway into the first half that the first major questions were asked of the goalkeepers, Jean-Marie Le Roux at full stretch to deny Omar Westerlo. Flanders missed another gilt-edged chance when de Rhyn fired a tame shot at the Stormark side-netting. With very little to separate the two sides, and Stormark still on track to progress, the game reached half time.
The two sides returned to the field of play for the second half, with Flanders desperate for a breakthrough, while Stormark were looking to cement their place with a goal. They came close to doing so as Bjarne Jensen's shot just nicked off the outside of the post. Flanders finally got the goal they were looking for through the unexpected source of Axel Wesley, nodding in a powerful header from a corner. With Flanders now heading through, frustrations began to show in the Storish side, and Brégy made another reckless challenge, resulting in a second caution. The man advantage worked in Flanders' favour as Westerlo was able to score their second goal, and seemingly secure their passage to the semi-finals. Stormark, now needed two goals, threw everything forward, and almost got lucky when Arnio Morivari's long ball forward nearly lobbed Zand, who just managed to push it over the bar. Five minutes later, and Stormark set up a grandstand finish, thanks to Jensen's excellently placed effort. Unfortunately for Stormark, there was not enough left in the tank, and Flanders were able to hold on to set up a semi-final against Gotzborg.

Gotzborg 0-3 FlandersGotzborg were outclassed by Flanders in the first of the two semi-finals, with two goals from Omar Westerlo and a third from Edmond de Bruyne securing the debutants their first ever Copa Apollonia final appearance. Westerlo's first came thanks to a mistake from Leon Anke, gifting possession just outside of the penalty area, with the Flandrian curling in a spectacular effort. The second goal came just after the interval, Westerlo single-handedly taking the Gotzborg defence apart, before coolly slotting home his fourth of the tournament. The rout was complete when de Bruyne struck from 20 yards, beating a stranded Schmitt easily.

Gerenia 1-3 SenyaSenya faced the holders Gerenia in the other semi-final, with Senya having lost out on penalties in their last Copa meeting, the 2014 semi-final. They looked keen to ensure they wouldn't fall at this stage again, as they set their stall out early, pressing forward straight from the off, and almost taking the lead in under a minute, with Barnaby Hands expertly sending the ball sixty yards, only for Danetskë to miss the ball by a whisker. It wasn't long before they were in front of goal again, with Jan Maytek having a shot well saved. Frank Rusov was lucky to only escape with a booking as he hauled back Danetskë, but his fortune was not to last, as Barnaby Hands slotted in the resulting penalty to give Senya the lead. Their dominance continued, and it was just eight minutes later that they grabbed a second, Danetskë rounding Arkuse before tapping into an empty net, and it was 3-0 immediately after, as a stray pass was picked up by Hands who was able to take the ball forward, feeding in Danetskë for a simple goal. The Senyans took the foot off the gas, feeling that they had secured their first final appearance, and only a consolation goal 20 minutes from time gave the now-defeated holders anything to cheer about in a dire performance.

ABSOLUTE PANDOMONIUM: Senya thrash Gerenia to reach maiden final
Senyan fans are notorious around Micras for being lively. And given that even the mundane pre-tournament friendly with Ranentsi saw Senyan fans set off thousands of flares and jump up and down for 90 minutes, the organisers of the game would have been sweating at the prospect of 20,000 Naldas decending on this quaint Lakkvian town.
There was plenty of pyro around the green end of the ground before kick off, as the Naldas unvailed a large portrait of a Senyan farmer holding a sharp knife, with a caption reading "Gerenian slaughterhouse". The Gerenian supporters as ever on the other side of the ground were going crazy with their streamers, but when it comes to outshouting the Naldas, it's a losing battle. So cue the scenes when Barnaby Hands slammed home his penalty on 26 minutes, as Senyan fans started lighting thousands more flares and setting off smoke bombs much to the startled locals, as those in green embraced. And as Senya made it 3-0, many fans started bouncing up and down the rows, climbing over seats to get in on the mass-hug/pyro-fest.
The Apollonian Classico derby is keenly felt in Senya, and erasing memories of 2014 led Senyan fans to sing "We're not going home". The Senyan TV commentators, upon the final whistle, yelled "AND IT'S SENYA THAT'S THROUGH TO THE FINAL. WE'RE NO LONGER THE LOSERS. BOO ALL YOU LIKE GERENIA, YOU CAN GO OUT OF APOLLONIA, YOU CAN GO WHEREVER THE HELL YOU WANT, BUT WE'RE GOING TO VESUHA TO PLAY FLANDERS IN THE FINAL!!!"
Hands: "We've still got a job to do"
Thankfully for Senyans, just about the only people who seem to not be getting carried away are the players. In his interview after the match, captain Barnaby Hands remarked, "it's a great day, but it won't count for anything if we don't beat Flanders in the final. We've still got a job to do".

Gotzborg 2-1 GereniaGotzborg stunned the eliminated title-holders by winning the third-place play-off in the dying stages of the game. On-form Kristian Jentzsch opened the scoring midway through the first half, before Fabris Balbîn responded with a peach of an effort from 25 yards out, a sure contender for goal of the tournament. Maxhime Burkhardt managed to toe in a winner in the final minute after a goalmouth scramble saw Gerenia fail to clear their lines, and Gotzborg claimed third place.

Flanders 1-3 SenyaBoth Senya and Flanders were competing in their first ever final, with Senya coming off the back of a confident 3-1 win over Gerenia, while Flanders eased into the showpiece game with a 3-0 rout over third-placed Gotzborg. With both sides seeking their first major trophy, the opening was very tense, with neither side wanting to give an inch to the other. The Senyans tournament experience began to shine through after the first quarter of an hour, and their more attacking style allowed Hands to feed in Danetskë for the final's opening goal. Flanders responded like a side who were not just there to make up the numbers, however, as Johnny de Rhyn's class finish levelled the scores. The half drew to a close, with nobody any-the-wiser about who would win.
Things continued in the second half as they'd left off in the first, with both sides jostling for any advantage they could eke out, but it was Senya that made the breakthrough, with substitute Ƨarkœvič nodding in from a Barnaby Hands free kick, setting up a nervy last 25 minutes. Senya thought they'd sealed it with 10 to go, but Danetskë was pulled back for offside, but he was able to finish the job and grab his fifth of the tournament to take home the golden boot and hand the title to Senya.
