Mercury vs. Senya (22/03)
*Played 22nd March*
Mercury 0-2 Senya
58' - B. Hands
86' - A. Danetskë
Senya survived being a man down against 2014 World Champions Mercury to continue their unbeaten streak with an away win in the FMMA. Although the Mercurians were dominant in the first half, they were unable to make it count; Joe Foxon won a penalty shortly after the quarter-hour but blasted the resulting kick against the Senyan bar, while defender Chris Deacon's header needed saving just before half-time to keep it scoreless. Senya created more chances after the break, with their attacking weapons combining well. Barnaby Hands followed-up a Gatkan Mena effort after it was saved to slot into an unguarded far corner before the hour mark to take the lead. Shortly after, Senya went down to ten following a second booking for Jær Van Kotrisbond, whose foul gave away the earlier penalty, for a debatable handball call. The Senyans maintained their influence on the game regardless of the handicap, using their offence to reduce the defensive frailty, and were awarded with their tenacity with a late winner. Following a triple Mercury substitution, Hands delivered a deep corner into the box, where Alesandrœ Danetskë peeled away from his marker to be able to stoop a header into the centre of the net past the 'keeper before he had chance to react; a second strike in as many matches for the most expensive Senyan player. A seven-match run without loss for the World Cup hosts this summer shows solid form, with Mercury's place atop their qualifying group safe during their bye, with NEK to face in a fortnight's time.
