With Vyktory almost certain of a World Place this summer and with Hoenn still with a reasonable shout of making the finals in Senya, an enthralling match up took place in Jamestown. The hosts started brightly, with Jim Templar forcing into a string of early saves, before Katsuya Fujiwara cleared a Zack Morris effort off the line. Vyktory's dominance was cemented just before the break when Templar sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot after Haruo Satō brought down Jordan Blythe in the box.
The second half began better for the visitors as they started to grow into the match a little. They almost got their third ever international goal Reizō Murakami ran in behind the defence, but he was flagged for offside after slotting the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper. Their attacking play did give Vyktory some chances to break, and Templar was unlucky not to score a second when his shot from outside the box was tipped onto the bar. However, neither side was able to find the back of the net again, as the hosts ran out 1-0 victors.
