Hoenn entertained a GSK outfit in Lilycove in the final week of April. The hosts started with momentum and took the lead inside three minutes, as Genji Miyagi slipped in Reizō Murakami to send the home fans wild. The hosts looked good for their lead but were pegged back before the half-hour mark when defender Rades Fanvera headed home from a corner kick at the near post. But the hosts were back in front before the break as Masamichi Higashi's shot found the bottom corner from inside the box. The sucker punch for GSK was compounded when Higashi turned provider, crossing the ball in for Shinji Tanaka to volley home at the near post. The game however took a sour turn when Akimasa Yamashita was late with a challenge on Ned Tarides, catching the Darekau Kad man having gone in with two feet and studs showing, leading to a dismissal by the referee, becoming the first player in Hoenn's history to be sent off. GSK managed to find a bit of fire power following the sending off, but Jirō Komatsu pulled off a string of saves to keep the scoreline as it was.
