With both Tellia and Stormark going into this match with their fortunes already effectively sealed, with Tellia already confirmed in the top two and Stormark eliminated, there was little for the two to play for. While Tellia were looking to get the point needed to win the group outright, Stormark were hoping to just get their first points of the tournament with the outside chance of not ending-up bottom. Despite having their knock-out place already in their grasp, Tellia stuck with a strong line-up as they hoped to win the group in style and avoid a tricky clash against Alexandria in the quarter-finals. The Tellians' quality showed from the outset, with the Storish players unable to cope with the passing and movement. Before long, Tellia went ahead, with yet another midfielder getting on the scoresheet for them this tournament. Young captain Sezer Özker was the one to force the ball into the Storish net with under twenty minutes played, volleying home from the far side of the area by getting onto the end of Massimo Santoni's deep corner. With Stormark's defenders trying to cover and mark infront of the net, Özker was free to hit the ball first time across the box towards goal. Although on target, the shot took a telling deflection off Riiser Marka before nestling into the inside of the net. After the goal, there was little between the two sides. Anthony Denoix-Moreau and Fjalar Heiðarsson had the best opportunities for either side, with the former heading over from only five yards and the latter's shot with the outside of his boot curling wide by a matter of inches.Spoiler!
Following half time, the game continued to be generally quite equal, with neither team being notably dominant. Some good moves by Tellia could only be ended by lacklustre finishing, with Denoix-Moreau and Marko Zajc shooting high and wide when they should have really been making the 'keeper work, and Stormark had Roberto Flavienchini to blame for their lack of scoring as the Cherry Trees stopper had safe hands when dealing with efforts from Heiðarsson, Jorán Levitz and Ewald Wolfram. With a good number of attacks coming to nothing, the Storish players began to tire, and Tellia took advantage of this in the final ten minutes. Sezer Özker turned provider for the second goal, putting through a disguised pass to set Anthony Denoix-Moreau into the clear, and the twenty year-old put the ball past Ragnar Mulkensson with a cheeky first-time touch after evading the offside trap. Stormark were now completely down and out, and couldn't create any further chances, but they did make their mark on the tournament in the last few moments, with defender Peter Karlson coming-on. The veteran, who has recently agreed to join Birgeshir's Mëzal Birlæşňi, became only the third 40 year-old to appear in the finals, after Turk ronAjain and Harland Sanders. In the end, Tellia secured an unprecedented third 2-0 win in their three games to top the group, and now face Shireroth, who beat them at the same stage last year, in the next round.

Alexandria face injury problems as Carrasco is ruled out of remainder of tournament
4-0 against Nordic Union, 2-1 against the Shirerithians before a 2-0 win over Mahoz HaSephardim. The Alexandrians looked set to be in a commanding position for the quarter finals as the favourites for the trophy, finishing their group with the maximum of 9 points.
However as they prepare to face current holder Cräiteland, Les Bleus have been hit with serious injury problems. The biggest disappointment is for Álexis Carrasco. Carrasco, 23, picked up a knock just before half time and continued into the 64th minute before being substituted for Edgard Alonzo. The Crécy striker, who started each group game had 2 goals to his name this World Cup, but he won't be adding anything more to his name as medical scans indicate that the striker picked up a stress toe fracture on his right foot. The injury will rule him out for the remainder of the tournament.
To add to the concern, Franciscania's Alonzo, who replaced Carrasco during their last game also picked up a knock shortly after. The 30 year old, who was part of the CTFA Champion's League winning squad collided with Philoxenos Ez Kheduh shortly after coming on and despite finishing the match on the pitch, a dead leg leaves him in doubt for their quarter final clash.
This leaves the Alexandrians with only 2 fully fit strikers: Florent Lassana-Traoré and José Aranzadi. With the 4-1-2-1-2 system working so well, it is unlikely that manager Didier Lozach will resort to making a change in tactics, but it is equally as unlikely for him to risk both his fully fit strikers at the start of the game. It leaves a dark cloud looming over Lozach, who will have to make a decision on whether to change things around or even decide to play either of Khalid Mohamed or Tamer Modrem up front.
It comes at a cruel time for Alexandria, who will not want to be reminded of last year's World Cup clash with Cräiteland in the same round. After a 1-1 stalemate at 90 minutes, the game continued onto extra time and penalties, where Cräiteland managed to win 4-2 on penalties to advance past the quarters, going all the way to the final. The Alexandrians will be wanting to seek revenge; however Lozach and his team now face an early setback ahead of their quarter final clash.

Not really an upset, considering how Alexandria have been playing and how many changes we've made
