Re: Fnord Award Winners 2014
That might be the saddest thing I've seen in this hobby in a long time. Nobody did anything new and noteworthy the entire year, did they?Jack wrote:Award for Best New Idea ("the Josh"): No award

Re: An Open Letter to the MCS
Crait, I very much like your list. You could use a broader category to include military, foreign relations, etc., since some people focus on one of those aspects of development. All I can think of is "Military-Industrial Complex", but there's a better term not coming to me at the moment. Would not t...

Re: An Open Letter to the MCS
The concept of "Convince Me" when submitting a claim is the opposite of what we do. We, the council, are neutral. It's not our job to be swayed by someone, it's our job to evaluate a claim based on the same scale we used to evaluate all claims. Perhaps that's the problem. Or at least "a" problem, i...

Re: Archive
That's an interesting map. Its one of Bill's pseudo-retcons. He made a map of how the sector looked like before we even HAD a map, but also included odd stuff like Aquata that never technically existed as a micronation but showed up a lot in fictional histories and video games. Not sector canon from...

Re: An Open Letter to the MCS
Gunna go down on record here and say that I feel an attempt to make a quantitative formula to judge expansion capability is a terrible idea. If there's anything roughly 15 years of micronations has taught me, its that these formulas bloat rapidly, are incredibly hard to balance, and tedious and bori...

As in all things, Andreas shares my viewpoints on this topic.

Re: Svorgas International Airport renovation
What happens when flights are inevitably delayed, which is like every other flight it seems? If you're on BIU 1300 14-4-14, and its delayed a few hours until around the time of another flight, it would be awful confusing to try to figure out which plane to get on!

Re: Journal of Micronational Studies
You sort of have a point. It seems like the Journal is trying to hit the ball out of the park on the first swing here. I'd argue that content is more important than refinement at this stage. I too would like to contribute something, but I really have no idea what the bar looks like at this stage, th...

Re: Journal of Micronational Studies
Interesting concept, though I fear any remarks I would be able to make are woefully out of date, the way the hobby has changed.
Are there any "sample" articles I can look at for a baseline here?

Re: Fnord Awards for 2013!
I agree with Benkern about the self-nominations. Hoping someone else remembers you did something close to a year ago seems like a pretty haphazard way to get things done.

Re: The Micran Times
Nice news. Convenient for someone like me that wants to keep tabs on things from a high level but can't be arsed into reading hundreds of story posts. I'd only love to see more. I think the interviews are your best bit though. Jonas and Ardy, those are some good perspectives. I'd be willing to go on...
