Mercury players fight after World Cup defeat
Two Mercurian players were excluded from the post-match ceremonies after breaking into a fight in the aftermath of the team's shoot-out loss to Nova English Korea. Felix Hammond and Robert Black were both involved in a mix-up that led to Nova English Korea's game-tying goal, and tempers boiled over following the shoot-out, with Hammond squaring up to Black before punches were thrown between the two players.
Both were reported to have been at odds throughout the game, but coach Anthony Chapman opted to keep them on the same line. This culminated in the two players skating into each other on a delayed icing call, allowing the Nova English Koreans to reach the puck first and score the goal that made it 5-5. The two didn't feature in overtime or the shoot-out, but that time didn't help them cool off, with team mates trying to stop them getting at each other on the benches. At the conclusion of the game, both headed for centre ice where they came to blows. They received match penalties and will not be available for tomorrow's crunch game against Shireroth.

Re: Mercury players fight after World Cup defeat
Fight or flight? Why not both?
Felix Hammond and Robert Black have been sent home from the World Cup following an altercation in their match against Nova English Korea. Coach Anthony Chapman was said to be "appalled" at the conduct of his two players. He added "They've let down their country, and now I'll have to think hard about whether they'll get to play for that country again. It certainly won't happen in this World Cup, as they're getting the first flight in the morning back to Mercury."
Chapman also slammed the MEHL after a post on Whispr suggested that the first game of the new season would be Bisminster Battalion vs Kuiper Jets, the clubs of Black and Hammond respectively, with the hashtag "UnfinishedBusiness".
