Re: 2019 MHL Junior World Championships
I do hope Birgeshir improve.Their current performance is not doing their ICHL prospect rankings any good at the moment ...

Re: 2019 MHL Junior World Championships
Final
At a packed Suns Arena on a Sunday afternoon. The hosts, the Florian Republic and arch-rivals Mercury went head to head in the inaugural final of the MHL Junior World Championships. This would be the second encounter between the two teams at the tournament with the first game between the sides ending in a 6-1 victory to a dominant Florian team.
However, the Final was a much closer affair and it was Mercury five minutes in who got on the scoreboard first in an intimidating crowd at the Suns Arena with superstar goaltender Harrison Nicholson caught out with a successful wraparound attempt with the puck squeezing past his leg pads. However, after half an hour of the period played, the Florian Republic finally found their rhythm after a slow start and scored two quickfire goals in a matter of moments from Ostville Blackhawk, Zach Chambers and ICHL number one draft pick, Keiron Burke. The second period proved to be similar to the first with the Florian Republic once again slow at the start of the period. Mercury took their opportunity to grab another goal and it came just 3 minutes into the period on a powerplay goal after Florian Defencemen, Luke Nicholson of the Etourney Avalanche was sent to the penalty box for hooking. No further action would happen the period apart from the occasional minor penalties.
After a disappointing start in the first two periods for the Junior Storm. The Florian's showed why they were the most consistent and best-performing team prior to the final with two brilliant goals at the start of the period from Keiron Burke of the Victoria Predators and Tim Burke of the Oldhaven Wolfpack. The period would remain tense for the remainder of the final period with both teams cancelling each other out until the final minute when Mercury scored an extra attacker goal setting a tense final few moments of the match. However, the Florians would hold on to claim a famous victory and become the first U20 national ice hockey team world champions.
The final was a great way to end a very successful tournament which sprung up surprises in every conference.
█ Florian Republic 4–3 Mercury █ – (2–1, 0–1, 2–1)
PIM: 8–12 (6–6, 2–4, 0–2); Shots on goal: 39–36 (12–11, 10–15, 17–10)
