Treaty of General Membership to the Micras Treaty Organization
1. There is an organization, called the Micras Treaty Organization, which shall consist of all signatory members of this Treaty. All member nations may send one representative to the General Assembly.
1a. For purposes of votes within the General Assembly, any vote cast as equivalent to "Abstain" shall not be counted as a vote in the affirmative or the negative, but simply a recognition that the representative was present and voted.
2. Nations wishing to join the organization must be approved by the General Assembly with at least a 1/3rd plurality. If rejected, a nation may reapply in 3 months.
The question before the General Assembly is, "Shall the Independent Realm of Ergonia be admitted to the Micras Treaty Organization?"

Re: Motion: Admission of the Independent Realm of Ergonia
Point of order!
What is a "1/3rd plurality"? If 5 nations vote Aye and 7 nations vote Nay, that is a plurality Nay-vote, even though the Ayes number more than 1/3rd.

Re: Motion: Admission of the Independent Realm of Ergonia
Ambassador,
It is the Chair's contention:
1. That the majority voting in favor shall constitute assent to the question.
2. The majority voting opposed shall constitute opposition to the question, with the proposition rejected.
3. Where there is no majority, the plurality (the largest number of votes) shall decide the question, provided that at least 1/3 of all the members - currently numbering 4, there being 12 delegations with the recent inclusion of the Commonwealth of Hamland - shall have voted in favor, or against the question.
To the Ambassador's example, the question would be decided not in favor, a majority having declined assent. I trust that this clarifies proceedings.
Debate continues.

Re: Motion: Admission of the Independent Realm of Ergonia
The State of Talenore intends to vote Nay on thos question. Ergonia is an entity headed by Giles Melang, aka. Vasroe, aka. a number of double logins. His track record in this community is in the public domain. I call on all members to reject this application.
Re: Motion: Admission of the Independent Realm of Ergonia
Jingdao hears the call of the honourable comrade from Talenore and echoes it. Ergonia has declared war on the Holy Grand Empire of Jingdao and then tried to play it down as a joke, the people of Jingdao have been involved in many wars and the past and wishes to establish world peace. We believe this is impossible if terrorist states are admitted to the Micras Treaty Organisation, it normalizes such behaviour.

The Imperial Republic of Shireroth likewise echoes the statement and sentiment of the State of Talenore.

Re: Motion: Admission of the Independent Realm of Ergonia
Isolating Ergonia from the community in its entirety would not help to fix the grievances voiced against it. At least if Ergonia is a member of the MTO, those micronations with a gripe against it have more legal options within the scope of the MTO Treaty, etc. So long as it is not a member, any diplomatic resolution or consequence for its disagreeable actions is even less likely.
Gotzborg votes in favour of its admission on the simple basis that it is better that all micronations in the community be subject to intermicronational rules, such as those propagated by the MTO.

Re: Motion: Admission of the Independent Realm of Ergonia
Excuse me, but what legal options do you mean? The appointment of a mediator requires Ergonia's consent, other than that there are no binding provisions in the general membership treaty.
Re: Motion: Admission of the Independent Realm of Ergonia
The only treaty that would give legal options would be the one on non-aggression, which they can't join because they do not fulfil the provision "[that] they are not currently in a state of open conflict with any current signatory".Liam Sinclair wrote:Isolating Ergonia from the community in its entirety would not help to fix the grievances voiced against it.
