[Discussion] Voting Procedures
*bangs gavel*
The General Assembly will now review its voting procedure to reconfirm these procedures, last authorized in 2013, or to create new ones. According to the General Membership Treaty, the Secretary General is able to set temporary voting procedures until cancelled by 1/4 of the General Assembly. In the spirit of moving things forward as quickly and fairly as possible during the transition between my predecessor and I, I have been operating under a 4-day debate and 4-day vote system to not allow important matters (electing deputy SecGen, and admitting new members) to stall.
The General Assembly is hereby asked to either reconfirm these 2013-procedures, suggest amendments, or offer alternatives.
The floor is open to all delegates.

A. When voting on a matter that is not amending any treaty of the Organization, the General Assembly or the Secretary General shall ensure that:
1. Voting on the proposed measure shall start when two delegates have given support for a motion to vote.
2. The Secretary General or Deputy Secretary will then declare voting to be open.
3. Any case of voting shall last for 1 week.
4. When voting on proposed measures, members may vote in favour of the measure, vote against the measure or they may abstain from voting by indicating so. Members who are not present shall not have their vote recorded.
5. For the purposes of tallying votes, only the votes of those voting either in favour or against a measure shall be counted. A measure shall only pass when the votes in favour outnumber those against.
B. When voting to elect officials of the Organization, the General Assembly or the Secretary General shall ensure that:
1. There shall be one week of declaring candidacies. All candidacies will be filed with the Secretary General.
2. On the first day following the 'candidacy week', voting shall begin.
3. When voting on filling a position, members shall vote for one and only one candidate or, if believing that no candidate is satisfactory, refrain from voting for a candidate and instead vote "no to all candidates". Voting shall continue for 1 week.
4. When tallying the votes, unless "no to all candidates" receives plurality, the candidate who achieves plurality of the votes shall be elected and fill his or her position with the organization immediately.

Re: [Discussion] Voting Procedures
The secretary general might have the best intentions by stream-lining voting, the Alriggian Republic still disagrees with his solutions. We would like to have it established that a vote should last at least four days, of which two days are in the weekends. Our representation is not always able to participate in the MTO during working days. Our nation is so small, we have to take other jobs as well.
Re: [Discussion] Voting Procedures
And I usually don't check too often on the weekends
So how about the debate period (which is critical to have a wider range of opinions presented) must last at least 4 days (96 hours) but must be extended to include at least 48 hours of weekend time.
The same rule applies to voting, except in cases of admissions where the 1/3 plurality is reached before the 4+ day limit, however I'll leave the threads open so members can still vote after the fact to show support.

Re: [Discussion] Voting Procedures
That sounds fair.
