Re: 2012 Rugby League World Cup
There ARE some places where rugby is more popular than football. Football's not the most popular sport everywhere. Handegg, rounders, netball and fighting on ice are much more popular in America

Re: 2012 Rugby League World Cup
You know it's not a competition, right? Just 'cause I like and play other sports doesn't mean I'm not a football fan. I'm sure everyone on this forum could tell you how much I love football, yet I also like rugby league, support an American football team, play handball for my university, used to play cricket for my village back home, etcvmsb123 wrote:Supporting rugby and the rubbish like that.

And I like football. I referee it every week. I'm also a rugby league referee. At uni I plan to take up Ultimate Frisbee. I sometimes play pool and snooker.

I was just kidding American football is a great game

It's the worst game in the world. But Americans still deserve some respect.joefoxon wrote:I was just kidding American football is a great game

Wait! Are there other sports than football???
On the other hand, why do you call American Football like that, if you play it with your hands, not with your feet?
The real difference between them:
In American Football, you will sureley have someone injured during the game in the field.
In Football (Soccer), you will sureley have someone injured during the game in the crowd.

Re: 2012 Rugby League World Cup
The Rugby League World Cup kicked off yesterday at the brand new Freddie Mercury Memorial Arena, with Mercury and Novatainia's Group A match. The hosts on paper looked like registering an easy win, and 10 minutes in, the suspicion was confirmed, with Mercury rushing into an 18-0 lead.
In the 17th minute, Novatainia were awarded a penalty for offside, 35 metres from the Mercury line, and decided to try and kick the goal to get off the mark. The kicker was unlucky in that the kick bounced off the crossbar and straight into the Mercury players arms. Two tackles later, a fourth try was scored after an 85 metre run, to make it 24-0. Another try before the break and Mercury looked like they would win more than comfortably.
In the second half, Mercury had the chance to go further in front, the kick off bouncing into touch for a scrum 20 metres out. Mercury went 34-0 up with a try in the corner. This soon became 40-0, and by the hour mark, it was 58-0. On 65 minutes, a silly knock on 15 metres out gifted Novatainia a chance to score, one which they took advantage of, but 58-6 became 64-6 and with two minutes to go, Mercury rounded off a 70-6 win, against one of many sides failing to name a squad in time for the tournament.

Re: 2012 Rugby League World Cup
I had high hopes with the Nozzies as they're quite into rugby! But hey, they should've named a team

It will be the same for other games too, there was no special treatment there. I'll get today's scores done a bit later
