Mercury is unstoppable! Maybe it was just a bad day for Robert Cooper? I hope so..
And hats off to Lusa for a beautiful performance in this World Cup!

Re: 2018 FMRL World Cup
Senya 4–6 Florian Republic
The managerless Florian Republic struggled in a very tight rain-soaked quarter-final against the hosts. A good spell of early pressure saw them come close a couple of times, but the Senyans just managed to keep them the right side of the line on each occasion. The deadlock was eventually broken through a penalty, with Baxter slotting over from 35m, following Middlestone's high shot, and the Micras Games champions went into half time with a slender 2-0 advantage.
The scores were levelled early in the second half, through Hunter's straightforward kick, but another Florian penalty for holding down gave them back their two-point lead. A string of penalties against the Florians gave the hosts the opportunity to take the lead, but the defence frustrated them, and eventually they resorted to kicking the goal to equalise again.
Senya found themselves on the back foot from the short restart, and the Florian team were able to push on, and were unlucky not to score, as Benderkorlen batted the ball dead to force a repeat set. Yet another penalty was awarded, 30 seconds from time, as Jamie Hedgefield was too eager, and was caught offside, leaving Baxter a tricky penalty 5 metres in from touch to win it, and his composure could not be faulted, as he managed to add the points and send his side to the semi-finals, where they will face Birgeshir.
Nova English Korea 10–8 Gerenia
The last of the four quarter-finals was also a nervy affair, with Nova English Korea just edging it, thanks to a very late try. Gerenia took a 4-0 lead through Roberto Vela, and thought they'd extended the lead further, but Riminat was adjudged to have tackled Roe Chi-Won in the air. Nova English Korea were able to pull ahead late in the first half, taking a 6-4 lead into the break. Gerenia re-took the lead with 20 minutes to go, but another missed conversion meant that a late try from Kwak Konu was enough to seal a first ever semi-final place for Nova English Korea.

World record rugby league crowd watches first tryless World Cup match
A world record crowd of 106,897 watched a thrilling wet contest between the hosts and defending world champions Senya took on the managerless Florian Republic. Rhys Baxter's 3 penalty goals were enough in Sandro Bett's first game in charge as interim coach. After the match had finished. They were scenes later in a very wet Svorgas city centre as Red Army Ultras celebrated knocking out the hosts filling every pub in sight. The Florian Republic now play Birgeshir again, in an attempt to gain revenge in the group stages and reach the pinnacle event of the sport, the FMRL World Cup final (unless you're a Florian fan who believe that the State of Origin is).

Re: 2018 FMRL World Cup
Neighbours Mercury and Nova English Korea faced-off in the first semi-final, in front of a buzzing Snakepit, with either Mercury's fourth or Nova English Korea's first final appearance at stake. The two sides had previously contested last year's third-place play-off, but this time Mercury made themselves look like favourites to go one step further, as they opened the scoring early through Alan Clark, with Robert Cooper's kicking looking more confident than in the quarter-final. Nova English Korea got themselves off the mark, as Luke Hamilton carelessly conceded a penalty, which Kun Hoon obligingly added the two points. Mercury closed out the first half by extending their lead to 12-2, as Daniel Brown was able to get to Cooper's grubber kick first.Spoiler!
Another two tries in quick succession early in the second half put Mercury securely in the driving seat, with Cooper hitting the post with one of his efforts, and they were able to add another following Kal Jun-Seo's sin-binning, before rounding off a sublime performance with a breakaway try, allowing Clark to complete his hat-trick, and ensuring that Mercury would return to the Snakepit a week tomorrow for their fourth final.

Re: 2018 FMRL World Cup
The second semi-final saw Birgeshir face-off against the Florian Republic, with Birgeshir having come out on top in both of their previous meetings, a 32-24 win in the Four Nations, with the competition eventually won by the Florians, and, more recently, a 26-6 win in the group stage. The Micras Games champions came into this game off the back of a nervy 6-4 win over hosts Senya, and they found themselves on the back foot early on, as Birgeshir settled into the game more quickly and Ërtem Kocakojk collected the ball well to open the scoring. Nadir and Öňan each added tries in the first half as well, and Birgeshir went into the break with a comfortable 18-0 lead.Spoiler!
The Florian side looked visibly tired, and with no manager, showed a distinct lack of direction in their play, and they were unable to break the Birgesh defence with their early encounters in the second half, with Nicholas coming close, but being held up, and Adam Rogers bombing an otherwise certain try. Things went from bad to worse, as Kyrie Shepard found himself in hot water after catching Ertunçojk with his shoulder, and was lucky to escape with just a sin-binning. This only served to allow Birgeshir to play more expansive rugby, and they were able to extend their margin to 32 points, through Koç and Öňan. With Shepard back on the field, the Florians were able to string together some chances, and eventually got off the mark, with Rogers making no mistake this time, but Baxter was unable to add the extras from near enough the touchline. Any glimmer of hope, though, was promptly extinguished, as Birgeshir rounded off a stunning performance with an acrobatic try from Bætuhan and Nadir managed to grab a second at the death.
Birgeshir will now face Mercury in the final, with Mercury supposedly having the upper hand, after their triumph in their last meeting, coming out on top by 36 points to 10 in the Four Nations. The Florians will face Nova English Korea for third, and while they'll be disappointed not to make the final, their accomplishments this year are certainly something to be proud of.

Angry Florian fans refuse to watch to watch 3rd place playoff and huge riots around FRFL headquarters
After a hugely disappointing world cup campaign, it is expected that many members of the Red Army will refuse to watch the 3rd place match and will return home. After being thrashed by bogey team, Birgeshir many fans of the team have decided to leave Senya early and they were scenes as Florian fans in the capital as fans came in numbers to attack the FRFL headquarters over the recent sacking of Jack Rowley and the team's overall world cup performance. Due to the treaty implemented after the War of Lost Brothers. The police were unable to use force so the FRFL headquarters have been left heavily damaged.

YES! Final, here we come! It's always an honour to play against Mercury,no matter what happens.
The Florian Republic was still impressive this World Cup. They're not been here for a long time yet they're already showing good quality. The win against Senya was unexpected and they will now play for the 3rd place. The only thing I don't like about the Florian Reublic is maybe their fans: they look quite aggressive and expect to win everywhere against everyone. I like the fact that they're proud...but maybe too much.

I understand them being angry, yes. But I personally support the Florian players. They are great in what they're doing and I'm sure they can do even better with the right coach. Just give them time

Re: 2018 FMRL World Cup
Both sides came into the third-place play-off on the back of heavy defeats, and were looking to end their World Cup on a high note. For the Florian Republic, it was a chance to finish in a creditable fashion in their debut World Cup, while for Nova English Korea, they were looking to improve slightly on last year's fourth place finish. The Florians got off the mark first, with Adam Rogers' seventh try of the tournament, and Baxter's fourteenth successful goal putting them 6-0 in the lead. They were able to capitalise, as well, on an error from Kwak Konu to increase their lead to 12, with Leo Bell taking the ball 40 metres, before setting-up Griffen for a simple try. Rogers' second of the night made the Florians comfortable, but they were pegged back late in the first half, as Sim Joon-Ho went over, to make the half-time score 16-6.Spoiler!
The Koreans opened the second-half scoring, as Roe Chi-Won slid over, Kun Hoon successfully adding the extras, and bringing his side back to within four. Chi-Won went from hero to villain though, as he tripped Adam Rogers as he chased down Baxter's kick-through, picking up a red card, and conceding a penalty try in the process. Rogers refused to be denied his hat-trick, however, and added another try for the Florians, and Kayden Fox claimed his first four-pointer of the tournament. Man Jung-Nam scored a late consolation, but the damage was already done, and it was the Florian side that bowed out on a victory.
