Whats going on then?
So, is this place supposed to be for something between the nations, or is it just a YAMO that needs to be killed ?
it would be nice to have it functioning... like the meterological place coming up... or the Anunia Convention type thing.. why not have it moved to the Micras Organization section?
we could use resources from here to help in Anunia and the weather area...
here's some thoughts:
regards weather society - nations with weather satellites are able get a much more detailed and advanced weather warning. more weather satellites = more details + more earlier weather warning.
0 weather satellites mean warning is relied upon other weather sensing equipment.. which would not be anything more advanced warning than, "in half an hour, we are going to be hit with a cyclone!"
regards recwar - nations with spy satellites can easily post in recwars about their use, while those who dont cant... fighting wars too far away from mainland can lead to communication and navigation problems for armies (due to lack of communication and navigation satellites) etc... etc...
well?
(also, in the intrim, could someone point me to the place about how to claim bases on tarsica?)

Because it's not solely for Micras, it's for the entirety of micronational spaceextreme007 wrote:why not have it moved to the Micras Organization section?

Re: Whats going on then?
It sort of fell down when I joined shireroth's space agency and lost hope in the human race.
also I need bill's help for some stuff but he just idles until 1am and i've been going to sleep early.
I should be able to get things done faster now we're on my server though
I hate getting into the godaddy databases with a vengence. it's hellish...
anyways, on your points:
recwar: I have suggested this, ideally we need the satellite tracker to work easily for orbits and also have an actual dot saying where the satellite is at the time, maybe even a deformed circle underneath them showing the area they can view, that way we can work to get it in some recwar charters that if an enemies troops are inside that circle, you're allowed to know what they are, where they are and what they're doing... which would be fun
weather: I know an awesome way to do this, but actually making it would be a challenge, maybe not impossible, maybe... might be able to do it. but my idea is such: i make a code that can simulate weather over the whole of micras (this is the hardest bit, but i've been thinking of ways i can do it, they all seem to involve quite a lot of processing and then return maps that don't have cyclones or tornadoes or droughts or such, just cells across the planet with wind directions, speeds and temperatures, I really need some help in simulating the weather, but not sure where i can get that from) then, nations have a weather satellite system like they have for the spy satellite system, but actually make it so they can see the weather map in the weather satellite's circle (and only in the circle) that way they need to have a nice coverage of satellites to see the weather in our around their nation

actually, you wouldn't need a circle and all under a satellite... because you could basically change its offset and angle (assuming circular orbit) to go to where you want it to go.recwar: I have suggested this, ideally we need the satellite tracker to work easily for orbits and also have an actual dot saying where the satellite is at the time, maybe even a deformed circle underneath them showing the area they can view, that way we can work to get it in some recwar charters that if an enemies troops are inside that circle, you're allowed to know what they are, where they are and what they're doing... which would be fun
not sure about the programming part, but i suppose we can say that one satellite can only tell you the weather in a certain zone. the more satellites you have, the more zones you can cover... even more satellites you have, the more zones you can continuously monitor... thus, the more zones you monitor, the better and more advanced a weather warning you can get...weather: I know an awesome way to do this, but actually making it would be a challenge, maybe not impossible, maybe... might be able to do it. but my idea is such: i make a code that can simulate weather over the whole of micras (this is the hardest bit, but i've been thinking of ways i can do it, they all seem to involve quite a lot of processing and then return maps that don't have cyclones or tornadoes or droughts or such, just cells across the planet with wind directions, speeds and temperatures, I really need some help in simulating the weather, but not sure where i can get that from) then, nations have a weather satellite system like they have for the spy satellite system, but actually make it so they can see the weather map in the weather satellite's circle (and only in the circle) that way they need to have a nice coverage of satellites to see the weather in our around their nation

Re: Whats going on then?
well, once it's orbiting, I don't want to have constant orbital modifications, so the area directly below the satellite is the only area they can view at that time, i.e. as it moves the circle moves...

Re: Whats going on then?
if you have it that way, nations will launching satellites inorder to be able to cover maximum territory.
This is the image for all Empire's satellites. Red circles are communication satellites, purple are weather and navigation, brown are only navigation and pink is (communication, astronomical and some basic form of military)...
there are about 40 satellites in space. 15 or 17 of them are communication, 6 or so are weather, and 19 or so have navigation capability. even with these, i feel the chances of not covering the entire world for a proper reliable communication and navigation network is still high!

Re: Whats going on then?
hmmm... obviously, i missed that... what are the degrees and offsets for those 6 orbits, do you know by any chance? also, thats obviously for communications and navigation... for military, you might need more depending upon what sort of coverage you want!
EDIT:
i have found that most people when recwarring say something like finding naval ships using satellites.. or finding armies using satellites.... for those kind of events, you'd obviously need a whole lot more satellites than just 4 (in one of those 6 orbits in the image above).

Re: Whats going on then?
thats the GPS constellation, but i would say it wouldn't be terrible for military use, even with few satellites above the target there there is ually one right above it

Re: Whats going on then?
hey, spangle, the tracking website seems to be down... could you fix that please?
also, on wiki for GPS, it says, the 6 orbits are 55 degrees inclination each and a 60 degrees difference between each of them.
does that mean, i=55, w=0,60,120,180,240,300 for the tracking site?

Re: Whats going on then?
well then, maybe we should strengthen MAS rule set for space-based exploration... like what is required for satellite acceptance, space vehicles, tarsica bases etc...
and then contact the weather-guys and the recwar-guys

Re: Whats going on then?
People couldn't give a crap what MAS says, just look at shireroth
after a while of trying to make their stuff feasible and actually fit to MAS standards they make this:

That was quite a punch in the face to be honest.

Re: Whats going on then?
we could standardize the satellites... and since we'd be, hopefully, partners with the meteorological society and Anunia, nations would have to follow our rule sets in order to be able to work with the other two societies. no?

Everytime Shireroth comes out with crap like that my opinion of them falls even faster.
