Overview: A humanitarian operation comes under the threat of a Shirerithian Gravship Raid (Ref; Operation Caldera & The Cruise of Medusa)
‘We are being pursued! ..ed assistance urg…’ The radio in the bridge of the SS Keltian Conveyor erupted into a hiss of static.

Leading Rate Colin Piper cursed inwardly as he fought the dials in a vain attempt to boost the signal of the distress call. ‘Unidentified vessel, this is the Nova English Naval vessel SS Keltian Conveyor. We have received your distress call, please report your location and situation.’ This time there was no garbled response, only the constant crackle and pop of static. The radio operator was about to call out again to the distressed ship, when he felt a hand clasp his shoulder. Above him the imposing figure of Captain Mark Hwite shook his head.

‘Leave it Piper. They can’t hear us anymore.’ He said, his voice muffled by the smouldering pipe hanging from the corner of his mouth. Looking back at the crewmen in the bridge he motioned to the operations map in the middle of the room. Pins and coloured lines straddled a detailed nautical map of the Home Islands, identifying positions of cleared settlements, aid vessels and rescue parties involved in the overwhelming humanitarian mission. ‘Sub-Lieutenant Vickers, the accent on the radio sounded faintly Jingdaoese. Get me a list of all the Jing flag-carrying vessels in the region and have Piper confirm their current status. If luck is with us we should be able to deduce which of the ships is missing.’

Sub-Lieutenant Olric Vickers saluted, responding ‘Aye Aye Captain’ and set about raiding the files for the correct folder.

Twenty minutes later Vickers had exhausted the list, Piper had only been unable to contact two Jing registered ships. One of which was visually confirmed by a Brettish trawler near Forest Row but the other remained silent to all calls. The MS Eternal Dawn had been due to make contact with rescue teams near Montfort to collect refugees for ongoing transportation to the Skerries later in the day. The Sub-Lieutenant quickly plotted the ships last communicated bearings against an approximate route of approach to the outskirts of Montfort. Adjusting for an average speed he circled two points on the map, marking one as 06:50 and the other with the time of the distress call.

‘Captain’ called the young officer ‘We have an approximate search area for the MS Eternal Dawn, according to our calculations we believe the ship to be around this region’ he continued as he pointed to red circle highlighting an empty patch of sea several miles from the coast of Montfort.

Captain Hwite grunted in recognition ‘We’ve got an L-15 Crew 40 miles north of that position assisting a rescue team. Get them re-tasked to search the area and update us when they have a visual.’

Minutes later Foxtrot-21 an L-15 Multi-Role Helicopter banked away from an ash covered temporary refugee camp. Its Pilot Major Beowulf Blaec fought against the turbulence and strained his eyes as he tried to gauge what lay ahead in the constant gloom of the never-ending volcanic dusk.

As they neared the search area, the co-pilot switched on the aircraft’s searchlight and began panning it through the grey ash laden haze searching the sea below it.

‘To the port!’ Called the loadman through the helicopters internal radio system. The major quickly adjusted the position of the helicopter and sure enough a dull red clump of light descended slowly through the gloom.

‘SS Keltian Conveyor, this is Foxtrot-21. We have a visual on a distress flare and are moving towards the location now.’ Reported the Major as he made haste towards the origin of the flare.
Moments later the searchlight began to pick out floating wreckage, before coming upon a small inflatable life boat manned by pitiful handful of survivors. Major Blaec gave the order to begin winching the survivors up and establish what had happened to the MS Eternal Dawn.

‘It’s no use sir’ said the loadman as he wrenched the side door closed ‘I’ve tried to question them but the only one talking doesn’t speak English.’ He motioned at a clearly distressed Jingdaoese sailor, covered in cuts and bruises flinching at every attempt to calm him. The other four survivors simply sat pale faced, staring hard into the distance and existing only on autopilot.

‘Roger that.’ Responded the Major as he relayed the report onto Captain Hwite.

Suddenly there was a faint buzzing as the Mk I Grav-Sensor panel burst into life, the system had only entered into service recently and provided a simple jury-rigged sensor capable of providing early warning of Gravmetric tanks. The Major shared a look of confusion with his co-pilot before one of the Jing sailors stood up pointing and screaming at the window. All eyes on the aircraft followed the sailor’s arm, where ahead of them bursting through the gloom of the ash cloud advanced a ship of monstrous proportions. The IRS Medusa’s Gravmetric engines created a pocket of ash-free sky as it cut across the gloom.

The co-pilot quickly informed the SS Keltian Conveyor ‘This is Foxtrot-21, we have sighted a large Gravship advancing on the Home Islands!’ Meanwhile the Jing sailors became more agitated, crying, shouting and pushing at the helicopter’s crew.

Major Blaec remained in shock, never in his life had he seen such a craft. It was at that point, the helicopters lock-on alarm sounded. ‘Ah fuck’ sighed the Major.
Summary: A Nova English Helicopter discovers the wreckage of the cargo-ship MS Eternal Dawn and finds itself in the path of 'Hunting Party 01'.

Overview: Cognisant of an attempt to establish a blockade around New Blackstone, the Western Armada goes hunting.
Moves:

Operation Sledgehammer
Location: Brettish Isles/Great Western Sea
Intent: To seek and destroy key assets of the East Keltian Exploratory Mission and the Nova English Navy
Action: An east to west sweep of the Great Western Sea and the Brettish Isles to inflict as much damage as possible upon USSO warships attempting to establish a blockade of New Blackstone
Limitation: remain outside reported operational range of Aetgar Coastal Defence System until it is better understood. Effectively Taylor Bay and the Warring Isles are off limits for capital ships. Limitation does not apply to aviation assets and negligible value assets such as armed trawlers (operated separately by Sea-Reavers and not listed here).

Hunting Party 01
IRS Medusa
LZ-001
Target: NZW Sheng-class cruiser

Hunting Party 02
ZNS Aurangzeb's Revenge (Aurangzeb Class Missile Defence Battleship)
LZ-002 & LZ-003
Target: NZW Bijeko Class Craft

Hunting Party 03
IRS Eye of Cortallia (Unarmed Observation Platform)
LZ-004 & LZ-020
Target: SS Keltian Conveyor (merchant carrier)

Force Reconnaissance
Protocol Support Group (x6 amphibious maritime patrol aircraft)

Force Support Element
Vanguard Flotilla (x1 Grifos-class battleship, x1 Mortis-class aircraft carrier, x6 Duchy-class destroyers)

Overview: Operation Sledgehammer focuses in on the NZ-War League's Sheng-class cruiser, meanwhile arrangements are made.
Spoiler!
Image
Moves:
Locations: North-Eastern Keltia, Brettish Isles, Warring Isles, Great Western Sea
Actions:
  1. After pursuing a radar contact that transpired to be a neutral flagged grain-carrier rather than the SS Keltian Conveyor, Hunting Party 03 broke off the engagement rather than risk an incident. After landing a boarding party in order to ascertain that there was no attempt at a deception by Jing operating under a false flag the ship was permitted to resume its former course and heading.
  2. For the duration of Operation Sledgehammer, the Aurangzeb Banner Group has been assigned to the force establishment of Operation Euryale. Somewhat confusingly this means that ships and men assigned to Benacia Command are now effectively operating under the control of Keltia Command. This arrangement at least provides Keltia Command with a naval force in northern waters, should the need arise.
  3. The process of mobilising the Militia of the Elian Union proves to be complex and laborious, undermined by a shortage of heavy weaponry that has been only partially ameliorated by bringing into service stored equipment salvaged in Elijah's Rest from the ruins of Normark. It remains, for the moment, effectively a home guard.
  4. The havoc wrought by a lone Sheng cruiser during its bombardment of the port facilities of the MoMA Station on Talenore has brought to the attention of Imperial planners the potency of the cruiser's battleship calibre main armaments.
  5. Natopian survey flights over the Gulf of Jangsong, as a preliminary to a ship hunting sweep of the Strait of Haifa suggested that the Bijeko-class attack craft might have left the Great Western Sea and transited to northern waters, menacing the coast of Elijah's Rest. This makes the Bijeko now a problem for Keltia Command and thus Natopia.
  6. These factors, taken together, lead to a decision to focus the "hunting parties" upon a more focused search for the Sheng-class cruiser. From new positions the hunting parties will conduct an east to west sweep supported by amphibious maritime patrol aircraft. Once contact is made, the hunting parties will converge and overwhelm the enemy vessel and its escorts.
  7. Following the unopposed sortie of the Aurangzeb Banner Group to the Brettish Isles, the decision was made to make use of the force support elements to establish two total maritime exclusion zones. The first, around the Brettish Isles to eliminate all USSO flagged shipping and war vessels coming to the islands, was established by the Vanguard Flotilla. The second, to be enforced by the prowling attack submarines of Wolfpack Dragon, focuses on the island of Anatonia, which appears to have become the busiest, in terms of logistical traffic, of the forward deployment bases established for the Grand Army of the East.
  8. The first SATCo-organised convoy route has been announced. The predominantly Malaborian assortment of coastal vessels and merchantmen have assembled at MoMA Station Sagittarius where they have been joined by fast patrol boats operated by Coastal Command for the journey northwards to New Blackstone. More details are expected to be announced in due course.

Just for the sake of clarity, I've been issuing responses on the official page for the War League, under "Ongoing Activity." I might also create a new page specifically for listing my orders. That said, if the preference is that if I need to, I will copy and past the relevant information over here as well.

I think the more stuff we post in this forum the fairer it will be on Krasniy as he is the fella who has to keep a track of all this.

Indeed. As I appear to have fallen into the office of presiding over the most wide-spanning war in Micran history, listing the essential information in a single venue has become an absolute necessity. You can copy a simplified version here and leave any technical/narrative frills for the wiki version if you want, the priority being that I (and others - this war has spectators after all) can put together everyone's moves from a single source in this forum. The absorption of background info from other sources can then be done at leisure.

That's fair. I'll make a point to do so from here on out.
