[SANE] Updates for 15/01/2015
Bulletin #1:
[Sea of Storms] Keltia Command today confirmed the loss of six vessels of the Musican Fleet during recent engagements with elements of the New Zimian Navy in the Sea of Storms. In spite of repeated and determined assaults beginning on the 6th of January and not subsiding until the 13th, the Palliscian aggressors were unable to deflect the fleet from its aim.
The losses incurred during this this engagement were as follows:
MDS Machinaria, Aurangzeb-class destroyer
MDS Confused Signaller, Diana-class Minesweeper
MDS Segovia, Elwynn-class Corvette
MV Orion, SATCo merchant vessel
MDS Iridescent Fulcrum, Diana-class Minesweeper
MDS Torat, Elwynn-class Corvette
In addition four Mondesian-type utility helicopters and a Dromosker-type attack helicopter were lost as a consequence of enemy action or of being obliged to ditch at sea.
The ferocity of the determined enemy's aerial attacks was sternly answered by the advanced radar tracking and anti-air missile defences of our Aurangzeb-class destroyers, without which our task force at sea would have been far more heavily exposed and at much closer quarters.
With six submarines to our enemies four, the Musican Fleet was able to give as good as it got in the duel between the punningly named Asleep class of submarine and our foes' Kesh-class submarines. The so-called submersible destroyers would have been better advised to have stayed at home, for the ease with which their groaning cavitations were discovered by the onboard sonar systems of the hunter-killer submarines screening the fleet.
The casualty returns presently stand at 255 dead and 775 wounded. The families of the bereaved are being notified and a press embargo will remain upon the names of the deceased until this process has been completed.
A fresh enemy sortie was detected, approaching from the Captive Sea on a bearing that led back to Fort Zima today. The foolhardy strike force, comprising of 4 Alpha Class Proximity Aircraft, 4 Aead Class Attack Helicopters and 15 Petal Class Unmanned Attack Aircraft, was detected by the long range passive electronically scanned array radar of the MDS Raynoria and engaged in the first instance by the vessel's on-board Sea Viper systrem devoting its last twelve Aster 30 surface to air missiles to the engagement of incoming targets, before shifting manning point-defence systems and going to battle stations. Following the alert raised by the Raynoria, battle was also joined in the air by four Virgo-class scout ships detached from the NDF's Orbital Defence Force.
[Talenore] A more significant strike package was subsequently detected in bound towards the MoMA Station at Talenore. A mixed force of 12 fast moving and 50 slow moving contacts, against which the remaining 8 Virgo-class scout ships were vectored to intercept in two "kill boxes" along the attackers projected flight path, after which the situation was left to the ground based air defence systems of the island's garrison to handle. One Buk launcher and 120 radar tracking autocannons were activated from their cycle location shifts to provide point defence.
Concurrently the naval bombardment of Talenore resumed with a significant task force off-shore. Identified with reasonable confidence as 5 Indigo Class Gunboats, 2 Bijeko Class Attack Craft, 4 Northman Class Corvettes and 1 Rey Class Submersible Destroyer. Counter battery fire was provided by 15 batteries of 6 focused in upon the Indigo-class gunboats of the attacking force.
4 Trump autocannons, 9 105mm light guns and a Horjin have been assessed as non-operational following the bombardment. Casualties amongst the Auxiliaries have been reported as 5–10 killed and 30 wounded whilst the Talenore Defence Force has notified of 26 fatalities and 50 wounded. No civilian casualties have been reported thus far.
[Captive Sea] ZNS Wendor & ZNS Avakair (x2 City Class Diesel Submarines from Wolfpack Merrick) had originally been detached from their designated patrol area to stalk the Pallisican Task Forces 35.52 & 36.03 operating in the Gulf of Zinjibar on the 20th of November. Following the completion of this assignment, and the redeployment of the New Zimian War League in a hostile posture against the Sxiro-Natopian alliance, the two submarines moved north-eastwards into the Captive Sea to conduct soundings and reconnaissance work.
At the conclusion of this mission, the ZNS Wendor encountered and stalked for 3 days the Sheng Class Cruiser of Task Force 36.67-002. At 1554 local time the Wendor launched four Samyaza torpedoes towards the Sheng.
With their presence in the Captive Sea now announced, the two submarines are placed under the ultimate authority of Keltia Command and shall join in the defence of MoMA Station Talenore.
(OOC: This was a secret move lodged with Krasniy on the 20th of November, updated on the 28th of December, and utilised today.)
[Wider War] With the Jingdaoese sectors remaining comparatively quiet all attention is now focused on the barbarous and treacherous attacks of the Palliscians against Elijah's Rest and now Princely Isle itself. These actions will be detailed in a separate bulletin to be issued later today.
All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.
