Dragons beat Mercurians!

In a great display of sportmanship, the Rugby Union team of Calbion defeated their Mercurian opponents. The Dragons, almost without exeption professional players,
didn't have real difficulty with the team from Mercury, consisting amateurs and Rugby League players. The final score of 25-8 still was a huge victory for the Dragons,
even though a win was expected beforehand.

The match started exeptionally well for the Calbain team with Wyn-Jones scoring the first try after only four minutes. The Mercurian defense clearly had something to do
in the 15 minutes after that with the Dragons storming the Mercurian gates. The brave defense didn't prevent Calbion from scoring a second try, this time by Michael Thomas, bringing the score to 14-0.
After that, the Mercurians went on to play better, not resulting in goals however.

Then, with still ten minutes on the clock, Mercurian defenceman Woolaston kicked the ball in a perfect dropkick between the Calbain posts, resulting in a score at the break of 14-3

After the break, we saw a more even game. Mercury tried their best and it was clear that there were some talented players in their team, but the Mercurian will was broken finally after
Wyn-Jones scored his final try of the evening. Ryan Hawkings failed to score the penalty kick however and the score was now 19-3.

After one of the faulest scrimmages ever seen in Micras rugby, which left both Calbain defenceman Biggar and Mercurian forward Jameson injured, Calbion got awarded a penalty, which was scored: 22-3

Mercury supporters did have something to cheer for in the 71st minute of the match when young forward Rosberg rushed through the Calbain defense and scored a perfect try. Nerves caused the Mercurian to miss the attached penalty.

A late dropkick by Wyn-Jonas set the full score at 25-8.
