An actual discussion: recwars
This hobby is pretty poor, we can probably all accept this. All our pomp and pretence makes us look like buffoons and everything we try to do that is real - recognition of pretence, secession etc. - fails spectacularly. However, say what you like about recwars, but whatever these things are I think we have made a damn good formula for how they go.
With this in mind I intend to write an article up about recwars. Features and so on, what makes a perfect recwar. Aristotle had his Poetics, we'll have RecWars. Anyone who wants to help with that, contact me.
Now... the serious proposition that will get nowhere. We really ought to chronicle these recwars. Here are some memorable ones, please do suggest others. I would like to create an account of each if at all possible, and aim to do so someday. Again, anyone that can help, do so.
-War of Jeremy's Nose/Redoubt Island War/Gascon Campaign
-Circum Raynor War (lost - do any Riponians have backups?)
-War of Broken Pottery/Landingberg-Holzer War
-Whatever the hell this other one on the MCS was called
Edit: In this thread we were going to decide what it was called, everyone said let's do it afterwards, the thread was locked and then we never did. I think I used to refer to it as the War of the Superpowers, but it's wide open. Another suggestion is Micronational World War 2.
-Taylor Bay Recwar/Warring Islands War
-War of Matbaic Liberation - Forum currently locked, I'll see what I can do about opening it. I'm admin so I can read it.
-War of Mondesian Liberation (the above was named after this one)
-The Jaris War
-Novatainian Training Recwar
-The Demon War
-Goloni War
Post more wars - even internal civil wars, though please none of these forever on-going ones as I don't count them - and links to. If this thread is popular I'll sticky it, here or in the Foundation.

Cerulea is also conducting its first civil war. As of yet untitled.

Re: An actual discussion: recwars
I always called the other one on MCS WW2 (on the assumption one of the many wars before it must have counted as WW1).
The training recwar we did in Novatainia was half decent ... well, at least it had a reasonable international presence.
The Demon War was very decent.

If you persist in calling it that i wont help in this project at all despite the fact i've taken part in the majority of the conflicts mentioned. It's internationally (i.e. outside of Shireroth) called the Redoubt Island War, i could just easily call it "The Shirerithian Arsewipes Conflict" but normal people aren't petty enough to do such things so i don't see why you feel the need to. Such anally retentive attitudes are the primary reason i both dislike Shireroth and avoid going to any meets where such people will be present despite being invited.Colonel Vilhelm wrote:-War of Jeremy's Nose

I honestly thought that was what it was called, I've added your alternative name to the list.KingJeremy wrote:If you persist in calling it that i wont help in this project at all despite the fact i've taken part in the majority of the conflicts mentioned. Some people just can't recognise a homage to 'The War of Jenkins' Ear' when they see one.KingJeremy wrote:If you persist in calling it that i wont help in this project at all despite the fact i've taken part in the majority of the conflicts mentioned. This seems like as good of a place as any to make a recwar inquiry.
I'm working on a certain project that takes place at a rather specific timetable. What I am looking for is the last major recwar that took place BEFORE the MN.net and the GSO went kablooey on Oct 08ish, 2008. Any chance you could point me in the right direction?

Re: An actual discussion: recwars
Probably the first one in the list in the original post, the War of Jeremy's Nose/Redoubt Island War. Started mid May 2008 I think? Ended late June. It was one of those major wars where all the big guys get together to fight, and it was just before the summer lull, so it's doubtful there was another serious one after that. There were probably smaller, local ones though.

There was the Goloni War that ran between May and July.
