On day one of the first ever Kavalosian Tennis Championships it was Andreas Basinas who made sure he was the first to take the title of Kavalosian Number one. Despite two difficult opening rounds Basinas made sure of a commanding display in front of 400 people in Adelphio. Basinas won the game 3-5, 4-6, 2-5, 4-6 earning himself a 15 points bonus in the rankings for winning in straight sets. This now leaves Basinas fifteen points clear as the Kavalosian number one. Basinas now waits to face either Gregorior Stephanopoulos or Dimitri Theopoulos in the Quarter-Finals next Monday. Meanwhile in the other first round game it was a tough game for new number two Yiannis Nikopolidis who lost the first set 5-0 to Alexandros Nafpliotis before recovering and showing amazing skill by taking the next two rounds 2-5, 3-5. The fight however was not over as Nafpliotis responded quickly to take another 5-0 set making it two sets each. Nikopoldis once again showed he is capable of winning this competition coming from behind to win the forth set 4-6 meaning that Nafpliotis needed to win the final set in order to go to a tie-breaker however Nikopoldis made sure he booked a Quarter-Final spot as he took the final set 4-6. This now means that Nikopoldis is the Kavalosian Number Two earning ten points for a win today but it leaves him fifteen points behind Basinas in the Rankings. Yiannis Nikopolidis now awaits a Quarter-Final showdown against either Spyridon Kalogeropoulos or Nilo Kalogeropoulos who play each other on Wednesday.

1. Andreas Basinas (45pts) +25pts
2. Yiannis Nikopolidis (30pts) + 10pts
3. Alexandros Nafpliotis (18pts) -2pts
4. Damae Papazoglou (18pts) -2pts
