IRS expansion
Orion wrote:Nation: Imperial Republic of Shireroth
Representative: Rexus Ursalion (me)
Claim:
Prerequisites: As per this ongoing story, Shireroth is reclaiming a tiny portion of old Lothlaria's precursor, Akerbjorn. The claim is small enough to be within reason, and the back story should justify the claim by giving it substance. The story is not complete yet, but it has reached the point where the settlement has been established, and therefore we are putting forward this claim.

Re: IRS expansion
Regardless of how small it is and the backstory, for that fact I think that Shireroth has more than enough land as it is; NAY...
Re: IRS expansion
Despite that, I'm not sure what this predilection towards tiny bits of land continents away from the main body.

Re: IRS expansion
The territory is historical for Shireroth and the claimed part is really small. I don't see any harm in it.
Of course, the idea that Shireroth already has too much land is one I can agree to. But on the other hand, the same principle doesn't seem to refer to the other big country: Stormark.
Perhaps the Council should decide on when a country is too big for new claims. Or perhaps the Council should encourage that unclaimed land gets claimed. After all, much of the world is ready to be colonized by others. Only one continent is fully claimed, Benacia. And the small Akerbjorn territory actually has cultural development, putting the territory and its culture in a larger context. That's at least much better than most fully sovereign members of the MCS who just want to hop around, have land here, but never talk about that to others since they're websites call themselves secessionist, located someplace on "Macras" :p

Re: IRS expansion
Stormark's most recent expansion was a few pixels on Cibola; something which was reduced considerably from what they initially wanted which I voted against. Their last expansion before that was over a year ago, and that land now belongs to Sangun-Treisenberg.Elijah Ayreon wrote:But on the other hand, the same principle doesn't seem to refer to the other big country: Stormark.
Personally, my feeling is that if any further expansions (regardless of how small they are) from Shireroth, Stormark or Alexandria come-in without anything majorly changing, I would always vote "nay" towards them due to their size. Of course, filling the gaps on Micras would be nice to achieve, but accepting expansions from nations which are more than adequately sized is not a way I'd like to go about that. Like I said in the claim thread, I'll be happy to accept this land as long as a compromise is made with an equally-sized reduction elsewhere in Shireroth's land
Re: IRS expansion
The map is already borderline polka-dot ala Shireroth. That alone I find distasteful unless it is explicitly part of the culture, which it isn't as far as I can tell.
Filling up every last corner of micras isn't a good goal. Then anyone. Ew has to bargain with someone for land.

Updated claim image, after discussions:
I'm more willing to accept this now it is smaller and has further development with the addition of a city. As I said in the claim thread, as long as this is Shireroth's last expansion for a good while, I'll have less of a problem with it. Changing my vote to AYE...
