Re: November removals
AYE...
Re: November removals
Can't vote, but:
New Riverina took part in September's Microvision with a song that they composed themselves. That is good-quality cultural development that was spread to the world. As such, I object to their removal at this instance as I do not find the three-month total inactivity rule applicable in New Riverina's case.

Re: November removals
Norrland also took part in Microvision and were removed last month. While I admit it is somewhat of a grey area, I'm personally inclined to see these situations more like how my work with the FMF doesn't attribute activity for Craitland. If others disagree and reject this, that's not a problem
Re: November removals
That is true, but I was not a member of the Council thenCraitman wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 10:55 amNorrland also took part in Microvision and were removed last month. There is also a difference between submitting any song to the Microvision and actually composing one for it. The latter is a definite proof of cultural development.

Re: November removals
The song wasn't composed for the contest, mind. It's James' composition, true enough, but already existed way before Microvision...
Re: November removals
We do have a bit of a grey area, but I have in the past promoted the notion that participation in community-wide events should be taken into consideration for activity. Whilst most nations that are removed seemingly lose interest in participation in Micras, other nations are quite heavily involved.
Additionally, New Riverina signed a treaty with us back in August (2 months ago), yet the treaty only currently counts towards Senya's stats despite being drafted and ratified by both nations. I think that this is something that the council should look into.
That said, there's no excuses for the Iron Cult, I'll AYE them, but I ABSTAIN for now for New Riverina until a consensus can be reached.

Re: November removals
We do have precedent with overturning a removal due to unnoticed activity; before the times of MicrasWiki being the place to be, Uantir had three months of no forum posts and were listed for removal before it was pointed-out they had added stuff to the wiki, which saved them. New Riverina's August diplomacy certainly strengthens their case of another month's reprieve - I won't cancel the removal outright, but I do change my vote (for theirs only) to NAY...
Re: November removals
Yao for the Iron Cult. I think the Microvision contribution only counts if it is culturally important for the nation, for example through the lyrics, or if it is the organizing nation. I also take the Lord Crait's words into consideration that the song existed before the contest and thus does not constitute any more cultural development than whatever Natopia did to, or should I say against, us. Neither does the treaty with Senya constitute much more than a glimmer of hope that they will once again be active, but I'll take that glimmer and say nao to their removal.
Re: November removals
The summer slump seems to have become the fall and winter slump as well (at least until we need an excuse to get away from our families during the holidays). As such, New Riverina ought not to have its plug pulled just yet as it has done something. as for the Iron Cult though, not a peep.
New Riverina- Nay
Iron Cult- Yao

Re: November removals
A majority has been reached in both cases...
Though as it stands New Riverina will be removed next month should they fail to provide more activity in November.
