Admiral Smedley stepped through the door and off the flight deck. Behind him, the Admiral Transport helicopter slowly descended below the deck. He walked along the corridor to the lift, a lieutenant walked briskly up to him and handed him an A4-sized flat screen. He held it with one hand and looked at the screen. On it was an array of information, he dragged his finger down the screen and the page scrolled.
“All engineering systems are operating at 100%, all aircraft ready to fly, all systems A-OK, excellent.†He said, he handed the pad back to the lieutenant and the officer dashed away. He reached the lift and pushed the call button. A few seconds passed and the doors slid open, inside stood Captain Jameson.
“I shall escort the Admiral from here ensign, you are dismissed.†Said the Captain as the Admiral stepped inside. The Captain quickly pressed his security key and the doors slid closed. As the lift began moving Captain Jameson spoke.
“Welcome back, Sir.â€Â
“It’s good to be back,†replied the Admiral.
“Everything is ready for action, the voice interface and volumetric display systems have been calibrated, everyone has had about three years of training. We’re ready.â€Â
“Good.â€Â
“What is the mission sir? The exact details have been kept under wraps.â€Â
“The mission details have been classified until today. We are to commence the attack on Barax.â€Â
“Excellent sir.â€Â
The doors slid open and the two officers stepped onto the bridge. The many consoles were manned, the main Viewscreen showed the flight deck, where numerous aircraft were assembled. The Admiral sat in his seat and pushed the SA button. The Senior Announcement signal sounded, and the Admiral spoke.
“Attention crew. This is Admiral Smedley speaking; the time has come for us to do our duty. It is time for war, I know you all, I know what you can and will do to ensure victory. I have made this speech before and you know what I have to say, so I will keep this short and sweet. As long as we do our individual duty, as long as we give our all, as long as we are ready to do what is necessary, we shall be victorious!â€Â
Roars erupted throughout the sub; “For Riponia!†screamed everyone in unison, “For Her Allies†came resonating through the steel, “For FREEDOM!â€Â
As soon as the signal sounded the end of the announcement, everyone got back to their work. Admiral Smedley assumed his full command and began to dictate his orders.
“Right, here’s what we do. The Europa and Agamemnon are to deploy sonar buoys around the area, we will launch the UCAVs and sweep the area around Barax, destroying Radar, then send in the Bobcats to destroy military installations and airfields, AA and SAM sites. Basically, if it’s military, I want it destroyed.â€Â
Summary:
>RDS Europa and RDS Agamemnon begin deploying passive sonar buoys in the sea around Litoras.
>The two Pioneer UCAVs begin sweeping the area in and surrounding Barax, targeting radar sites.
>Bobcats follow the UCAVs and begin sweeping the area in and surrounding Barax, targetting military installations, airfields, AA and SAM sites, remaining radar installations, Governemnt buildings in Barax, and other such targets.

All is quiet in the dead of night, and the young brow of Michael is creased. This is his moment to shine, and he sincerely doesn't want to mess it up. He stares at a map of the target, and plots the route that the men will take to get there as soon as possible. He's stared at this route a thousand times, but he must get every detail perfect, or it could all go drastically wrong. Deciding that his eyes would fall out if he looked at the map one more time, he strolls among the tents of the settled men. The first and second brigades of the 8th division were a bold lot, and they were not easily frightened. Some seasoned warriors, more experienced than himself, and some were young and seeking adventure. He had faith. He hears a rustle in the bushes, and mutters to himself
"I am up too late, even the owls are returning to their nests. There is nothing more to do, but hope."
After a troubled sleep, a young man of about 20 opens the flap of his tent. His eyes flash with worry in case he is too late for the wake up call.
"Perkins, you are on time, I am simply awake too early."
"Of course sir, the soliders too are restless. They wish to go quickly"
"I will oblige then, call to the men to dismantle their tents and pack them into the lorries swiftly. We are marching today."
The message spreads quickly, and the brigades are on the march. Michael sits in the jeep leading the lorries, resigning himself to fate and refusing to think anymore about the upcoming invasion until it is in his face. Despite this, he finds himself deep in futile thoughts. It had escaped his attention but the mood, originally boisterous enough to be heard from far off, had quieted to sombre mutterings.
His attentions were focussed when Perkins taps him on the shoulder.
"Sorry to disturb you sir, but we're approaching the border. What should I do?"
"Tell the men I wish to address them briefly once we get to the border over the radios."
"Sir!". Perkins does his duty swiftly and efficiently, seemingly undisturbed about the coming battle. Drifting into his thoughts again, the time passes quicker than he'd've liked and he finds himself addressing the troops:
"Men, this is your commander speaking. Remember, the tanks are to lay waste to everything in their path. The infantry will follow behind and secure the area. Righteousness is on our side lads, the battle will not last long and will be won in the name of the King! Pray now gentlemen, pray that you will be spared any harm and that you come out alive. The best of luck. Over and out."
The border approaches, and he feels like he watches the ensuing assault in third person- watching as these poor anonymous lads give their lives, and briefly mourns in advance.
"It must be done, for King and country. Live or die, they will be heroes."

The first and second brigades of the 8th Division pass through neutral South Carthborough, crossing over the River Hamble before launching a full scale assault on the Beaugium colony on the far side. The spearhead of the assault is aimed at the city of Guardian

No crowds waved off the ships as the assault fleet left Ithilien; only emptiness remained in the province since its evacuation weeks earlier so only empty cliffs passed the naval vessels by as they sailed out of their home port out to sea. Exiting the sheltered cove the Valar and Matbaa headed north, following the line of the coast while remaining out at sea, while the rest of the Assault fleet headed directly east with all 10,000 marines onboard. Escort vessels circled the flotilla as they made the small journey across the ocean to the Beaugium colony of Angel.
Within the same day the fleet arrived off the coast of the undefended enemy colony, upon arrival there the marines were packed into quick assault craft and helicopters and were ferried ashore. Considering the lack of opposition P & O could of carried out the invasion, however to save time a large number of helicopters were used to transport the troops inland and before sundown hundreds of marines were landed in the enemy territory with orders to disperse and secure the land. The prediction was that all the troops could be unloaded before sunrise the next day, and when that was complete they (the present ships of the assault fleet) were to retire to a secret location.
Meanwhile the Valar and Matbaa arrived off Guardian where they were ordered to unleash a combined total of 22 Tomahawk missiles at the cities empty defences in support of the New Brittanian troops who would soon be arriving there.
Summary: Assault fleet with the exception of the Valar and Matbaa sail for Angel where the marines are offloaded and disperse to secure the undefended territory, when the marines are landed the ships move to a secret location. Meanwhile the Valar and Matbaa unleash 22 Tomahawk missiles against the vacant defences of Guardian.

It was 1930 hrs, Micras Standard Time, as Lord Montague boarded HNBMS Hood. Due to the position of Franklin in Micras, it had already been dark for two hours and the old and quaint city (it resembles Lisbon ) was illuminated by the glow of hundreds of lights. Its port currently hosted the 1st Battle Squadron, itself wonderfully aglow with lights that dangled from mast to mast in a wonderful illumination of the pride of the New Brittania Fleet.
"So Hastings, what do you make of the old girl?" asked Montague to his aide, Vice Admiral Paul Hastings (Ret.) of the Royal Lovely Navy.
"Well, she's just that. Old." said an unimpressed Hastings, who had served on some of the most modern ships afloat when commanding in the Lovely Fleet.
"I'm going to look around her." said Montague, immediately knowing that Hastings would follow. The ship was as would be expected, a battleship grey but Montague took faith in these old, strong and sterdy metal bulkheads that had brought him his greatest victory and announced his presence as a great naval commander.
Montague walked past and peered in on a messroom as his sailors merrily sang the night away with their rum. He listened carefully to the words of the sailors' song, to try and gauge their mood and their desire for victory in this war. They were blissfully unaware of Montague's presence as they sang away...
"O'er the seas and far away
King Joe commands and we obey
We'll make the Nova Bastards pay
O'er the seas and far away!
Ole Franklin has seen better days
Koranga stands but does not sway
With Monty and Earl Henry too
The en'my gets what their due...
O'er the seas and far away
King Joe commands and we obey
We'll make the Nova Bastards pay
O'er the seas and far away"
Montague moved on, hearing the same song with different verses reverberating around the ship's bulkheads. He gave a small laugh as Vice Admiral Hastings shook his head at the swearing.
"They're sailors who are going away to fight a war. Spare them the preaching on bad language Paul." said Montague.
"Yes, I know. This is exactly why I never went below decks in the Lovely Fleet, sir. Talking of songs though, sir, have you heard a new smash hit in Novatainia?" asked Hastings with a grin.
"No, what?" asked Montague.
"'Tie Lord Montague down, sport' I think its called. By someone called Holf Rarris I believe. Its very amusing."
"You'll have to order me a copy, Hastings." chortled Lord Montague.
By this point of their walk, they had reached the bridge where a young seaman of the reserve bridge crew shouted out the presence of Lord Montague. The bridge was traditional in its shape, with the Admiral's chair being placed right in the centre of it. Behind it was a Operations Room where Montague could if he wished use modern technology to send out orders and formulate fleet movements and plans. However, he preferred the old fashioned way and used his mind and sea charts spread across the table in the Admiral's Study aboard the ship. Below the bridge was another bridge called the Open Bridge, in which the ship could be controlled from and Montague did have a fondness for using it when he felt like it.
"Captain Emily Packard of HNBMS Hood, sir. It is a pleasure to finally meet you." said the youngish Captain. She was fairly petite and the sight of her in her Captain's uniform, with her long blonde hair in a bun under her cap, was almost absurd.
"Daughter of Lord Packard, I presume? I hope you're not as much of an idiot or a nuisance as your father was. Still, I suppose he redeemed himself in the flight of King Jeremy II. Captain Packard this is Vice Admiral Hastings retired, Hastings this is Packard. Hastings will be my aide throughout this war." said Montague rudely to the young Captain. It was his way of checking out her character and metal. The way her eyes flared at the insult to her father showed that she'd be the kind of Captain he needed in this fight. Still, he bypassed her and called for the Chief Communications Officer while Hastings introduced himself and made a silent apology for Montague's manner.
"Comms, inform the Port Authority that we are about to set sail. They are in command of the city and should immediately implement Operation Hidden Bite as well as the blackout. Send a further message around the fleets to read as followed..." ordered Montague.
"Sir, it is protocol to issue orders to the Captain of the vessel for such things." protested Packard after the message was recited.
"Very well Captain. Take the ship out into open seas. Heading W90." ordered Montague walking outside onto one of the open wings of the bridge. Hastings moved around just in time to catch the CCO with the message.
"You'd better add onto the end of that message that 'Monty is back'." advised Hastings. The CCO looked at the Captain for approval before carrying out the order. Packard was wounded, Hastings knew, from Montague's attack on her pride and new that she'd take it out on him most likely.
"I don't know why you need to add that Monty's back on the end of that message. He never left." said Packard over her shoulder with a hint of distaste in her voice.
"Trust me, Captain Packard, the Lord Montague who commanded this ship during Circum Raynor is nowhere near the Lord Montague that stands on the bridge tonight." replied Hastings deadly serious.
A few minutes later, a message was sent around the fleet courtesy of the New Brittanina Armed Forces Network's primetime presenter Kieran White assuring voice....

Summary:Sailors of the Fleet, war has begun. This war will be hard and it will be dangerous for us all. We are fighting a sophisticated enemy. But we will prevail as we always do. Remember your ancestors and their glory. You will eclipse their's in this war. You will cement New Brittania's position as a global superpower. When we meet the enemy in battle I expect, along with our country, to win. Our commanders are wise, our officers are smart and are ordinary men are brave. You will give these magicians hell and they will end up there for practicing their sorcery. You will provide New Brittania with a source of pride beyond what these ships do. It takes less than 3 years to build a ship like the one you all sail in, yet it takes much longer to build a tradition for the force in which you serve. Good luck and Good hunting in this war.
The Admiralty wish to add the following message to Lord Montague's address: Monty is back.

In Battle; Unbeatable.
In Victory; Unbearable.
In Victory; Unbearable.
After a rousing chorus of 'I'll go in the Strength of the Lord' the military anthem of Beaugium, Babs and his personal aide Jenkins reternud to the bowels of SOMI Concorde.
'Welcome to the new Concorde office sir.' announced Jenkins smugly.
'Really?'
'Yes, sir. We've brought across some if the technologies you're familiar with from HMLS Concorde.'
'Mmm, and added a bit more I hope, I will not need saving this time around Jenkins.'
'No sir, you shouldn't...'
With that the third carbonite steel door slid open and revealed the glistening office which was Bab's home for the next weeks.
'On the left is your private chambers and bathroom sir, to the right your kitchen and relaxing area.'
'You did pack the hair produce didn't you?'
'Yes sir, Nikki took care of that for us.'
'Invaluable....'
'Quite.'
'Anyway, let's get to work, you know our starting orders, tannoy them out.'
'Yes sir, to clarify, TSq A & B both?'
'That is correct, I will do the paperwork whilst your fire up the men.'
'Yes sir'
'And get Andreas on the phone when you come back.'

re:
The Great March
With dawn quickly approaching, the Dauphin thought it was a perfect time to mobilize the army towards Passas. The Principality of Corcovado had always been in a convinient location for Alexandria, and it was a growing port. The city of Corcovado, the capital had been rushed with Alexandrian Imperial Forces. Having freshly arrived at the eastern quarter of the city of Corcovado, the GDF under the command of the Dauphin was ordered to move east. They were to camp for the night in the town of Volutana, where the next morning they would mobilize towards Passas. "Great Success" as a Galatian described it.
The Imperial Army of Alexandria had been camping there for days, Corcovado had been under the command of Prince Augusto Benavides for a while. The Prince of Corcovado knew how to defend the crown jewel of the Empire perfectly fine. He was quoted to have said "Any attacks from Passas will be repealed, im not going to take any bullshit from them! and neither will my men". Prince Augusto's mouth never had the pleasure of blurting out a lie. His men trusted him and knew he was going to keep his word. The Dauphin's GDF force was about 6 miles away from the main Alexandrian camp, before leaving Galatia, the Dauphin and the Prince had talked and knew each other's strategy and future locations. The Dauphin was nerveous, he couldnt wait until dawn to cross the border into Passas.
"Lets Mobilize" called the Dauphin to his chief of staff. "Get my men moving, Col. Ghosn." commanded the Dauphin. As soon as the command was given, Col. Ghosn signaled the trumpeteers to sound the trumpet and for the men to mobilize. The tanks and everything moved. The location was set - VOLUTANA, Corcovado. With the Air Cavalry ahead of the GDF as a tool to scout ahead.

SUMMARY:
GDF under Prince Enrique mobilizes towards Passas. Air Cavalry takes off towards Passas.

Summary: All planes fly to bomb Ziffton. Taking out ONLY military establishments and port facilities, avoiding all civilians (if there are no defenders they'll sound warning sirens so civilians can get out of the way). The Duke was slightly ill at ease. He knew the reason he was here - Phillips, as a deputy of Andreas, was most used to Tokidoki, and so of most service here, but he still felt odd off Novatainian soil, in Praygulinia. Air Vice Marshal Phillips, meanwhile looked at his watch. "Alright, it's time," he said. "Commence Operation OHS."
All three wings of Aerial Moose Division, and Aerial Wolf Division in case of danger, flew towards Ziffton. By all reports, there were no stationed military defenders, which made their mission simple - bomb port facilities, dry docks, hangers - anything military - while carefully avoiding all civilian areas. They had very exact maps to ensure they were on target. If they indeed encountered no enemies, they would sound large sirens as they flew over. Phillips was confident that the Natopians were sensible .... he stopped himself, and rethought that sentence. Phillips was confident the Natopians were intelligent enough to get out of the way of bombs, given warning. Meanwhile, he and the Duke were following with the rest of the army by land. They would reach Ziffton later in the day, and then ask for it's surrender, assuring the citizens they would be left their peacefully - the MI merely wanted to ensure no Natopian military units could enter through the port, and they'd leave peacefully after the war. After all, they were still technically allies.
As the ground forces set off, the Duke gave some advice. "Remind everyone of our announcement, lad," (http://www.micromaps.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=384) he suggested. "After they've seen the first day of planning, they may be more likely to accept it. And extend the offer to changing sides in the war, if they prefer that."
"But .... if they change sides, doesn't that defeat the purpose of fighting as MI?" Phillips pondered.
"Not at all, lad," the Duke replied. "We've started the war now. Anybody who fights for us from now on does it through diplomacy. And diplomacy is just as important as military might for a superpower ..."
Ground units continue along behind them, to ask for the town's surrender when they arrive. Remember our announcement!

OOC: For the benefit of the Natopians, could you possibly state where the planes and (primarily) infantry are coming from? And, also, in the interests of fairness...Andreas the Wise wrote: Summary: All planes fly to bomb Ziffton. Yes Iehova, I wouldn't be so cruel as to avoid that when I've been harping on about locations ...
*Sigh* Nice to know people care enough to read my posts ...
And btw, as I said before, I'm on holiday now for three days, so Babs has control of my unit.
