JP: Ice breakers
Can I just point out (not in my capacity as acting judge, really), that according to Andreas, Sorongath (sp) and Nick's units began the war at the Novatainian city of Castle Aargh. This raises two issues.
Firstly, neither unit actually bothered to set off from where they began - instead they appeared. This is not in keeping with the idea of having to start either in your own nation's territory or another nation's territory where you have permission to be (ie. Riponian Air Force 57th Sqn had permission to start in New North Mehlville).
Secondly, Castle Aargh and the surrounding island is completely surrounded by ice. No-one at any time mentioned ice-breaker capabilities for any of the ships:

Suffice to say, they wouldn't have got very far away from their starting point without such capability.BATTLESHIP: You know the type. Big, hulking juggernaut of a ship, with macro cannons and torpedo bays for close ship-to-ship combat. A few missile batteries, but designed more to take punishment and dish out the pain at closer quarters.
KILLCRUISER: A Destroyer Chassis, outfitted for long range combat rather than the standard close support armament.
Offensive weaponry includes long range missiles, medium range missile batteries, and long range mass drivers.
Defensively, they employ computer and signal based missile countermeasures, as is standard on most modern warships. Effective for the most part.
Oh, and:
Of course, perhaps I'm just being pedantic, and if the Alexandrians choose not to mind, then whatever. It's all good.F. Units should clearly state any exceptional capabilities at the beginning of combat so there is no temptation to do something dodgy like claim a unit has paradrop capabilities when you really need to get behind enemy lines. If a unit wants to have certain surprise abilities that the enemy does not know about, they must get the Judge's approval as close as possible to the beginning of combat and BEFORE the abilities are used.
Let me start by saying that;
A.) The ice surrounding ARGGHHHH! is by no means all-encompassing, as that would render the island useless as a port. I have reason to beleive It's used as a port, though maybe I'm mistaken.
B.) If not, I think It would be perfectly acceptable that we start out from Hell's Gates, another port a few miles north and more open.
...Yeah I think that's about it for my defence, apart from telling you to 'whine some more' in a sarcastic manner, although that's completely unnofficial and un-called for.

The map shows it as surrounded entirely by permanant ice (consider that it's about <100 miles from the south pole. It's ice. Take it from Riponia, in order to get to our county of Liiansaari and back, we use icebreakers. I think you'd be hard pushed to find another way.Sorongath wrote:Let me start by saying that;

Like I say, I'm not judging you (haha! =/), and if the Alexandrians don't care, then there's no problem with it.
Can I point out that Nick's fleet which fired at Alexandria was taken through the ice by an icebreaker, the HHMBS Invincible which doesn't need to be in orbats as it is a civilian ship on loan to Novatainia, used for getting merchant and private ships in/out of Sypyr.

re:
We do indeed have a problem with it. You bet. I want to point out that if the missiles fired at Alexandria were made through an invalid move - then we'll discard our move.
I quite understand Iehova's point of view, he makes much sense.
In that case, Bab's has found a perfectly legitimate and legal explanation for us anyway.

There we go. Have fun with that.Can I point out that Nick's fleet which fired at Alexandria was taken through the ice by an icebreaker, the HHMBS Invincible which doesn't need to be in orbats as it is a civilian ship on loan to Novatainia, used for getting merchant and private ships in/out of Sypyr.

Although I'm not party to these affairs, I do agree with the fact that the icebreaker could fall under civilian and therefore non-orbated ships. But I'd suggest that in the future references are made and if they're not, we can assume whole fleets are destroyed by icebergs.
