Missiles
This is not really relevant to this specific war, but I figured, with so many wonderful military minds gathered here, I might be able to get an understandable explanation ...
Missiles in recwars confuse me immensely. Some people use them to suddenly destroy an entire wing of planes when the missiles themselves take up far less than a single plane in an orbat. Others use fighters to swat entire attacks of missiles ...
And then missiles are launched to stop other missiles. And Destroyers seem capable of launching missiles across half of Micras, and I thought only permanent ground based ones in cities could get anywhere near this range. I'm not that stupid that I think there's only one type of missile, I know there are many, but can someone explain to me the "basic" types and uses of missiles in recwars?

Cruise Missiles - medium range sub sonic missiles which pack a punch. GPS, laser or radar guided.
Inter Continental Ballistic Missiles - can travel across Micras and have immense power. Usually carry nukes.
Anti-ship missiles - short range (for missiles that is) infrared or radar targetting.
anti-air missiles - comes with infrared or radar. Ranges vary.
air to ground missiles - usually laser guided. Takes our ground troops
anti-radiation missiles - anti radar missiles. targets radars and homes in to destroy them.

In Battle; Unbeatable.
In Victory; Unbearable.

He's got most of them, good job Monty.
The others are really counter missiles, designed to knock out other missiles from mid flight, usually tracking them by their sensor output.
Other ways to kill a missile are with point defences, such as the phalanx minigun or the firefly LPD. Or AMS. AMS broadly covers any form of 'missile shield,' which basically is a jamming or scrambling field which confuses the missile into losing guidance, control, or prematurely detonate, depending on the type of AMS system and effectiveness.

Not all cruise missiles are sub-sonic. There are super-sonic cruise missiles too, but they can't go as far (I remember mentioning this in the last war; I compiled a detailed list of the specs for most cruise missile types).

And destroyers carry inter-continental missiles?

i think he has a sub off somewhere launching them. but a sub like that is at least 1.5 times bigger than a standard attack sub. also they tend to be harder to find/more stealthy but have less offensive ability (not including the ICBMs) ie less torpedoes veryfew to no missile (again not including ICBMs)

Monty technically didn't launch the ICBMs, Jeremy did. I might have to check to see if it was with one of Monty's ships, but it was definitely Jeremy who posted the attack.
