Cook Medal:
Message from the Novatainian Crown
The Government of Novatainia would like to register its disgust at the fact a medal has been named after Montague. We consider it a dishonor to all the innocent civilians who died at his hand. We urge the New Brittanian crown to reconsider their creation of this medal.

Some time after the war was over, and rebuilding was well on its way, Andreas would visit Montague's grave. He read the gravestone, and looked at the several bunches of flowers around, and put his own down.
He'd always thought talking to grave stones was silly. As a christian, he knew that either people went to Heaven or Hell, in which case they had far more important things to do than watch their grave all day on the off chance a relative said something (not to mention the fact he had no idea whether people in Heaven and Hell could see Earth anyway), OR, as he personally expected, people "slept" until the last day when they were all raised up to be judged, in which case talking to a grave stone too made no sense. But all that aside, this had to be said, if for him if nothing else. And while he was here, he might as well add the other bit ... on the off chance he was wrong.
Andreas had had some correspondence with Montague during his life, and not all negative. He suspected Montague was a nicer chap than he let on, and though he seemed to take such delight in slaughtering civilians, Andreas had seen much more evil in his life. Montauge had also learnt a bit about Andreas, and Andreas expected that Monty would know what he was going to say. Whether he'd have liked it or not was irrelevant - Andreas had to say it.
Without further ado, he knelt down by the gravestone, gave it a hug, and whispered the words, "I forgive you." He stayed there for a moment, then got back up, and coughed, slightly embarrassed.
"On the matter of the attack on your family, I thought you might like to know ... we found out, after all, who did it. I won't mention names, as you wouldn't know him anyway, but he was a secret enemy of not just Novatainia, but all peace-loving people in the world. I'm sure spreading a little discord between you and us would have delighted him. But I think ..." Andreas paused. He'd never been sure how much of Montague was a facade, and how much was real. "I think," he continued, "that you'd be happy to know he's dead. Not killed in war, or assasinated, or even slain with any reference to you, but he's dead."
That said, Andreas got up from the tomb, walked away beyond the grave yard, and never returned there again.
