Looking back...
I stumbled upon an old shirerothian thread the other day... It is odd to read...
http://shireroth.kuroshiro.net/forum/vi ... hp?p=49289
It sounds like ordinary n00b bashing that occurred a lot those days, but that guy they were bashing was me and my map (while was terrible)...
I wasn't the only one to receive that kind of treatment, the whole "lovely sector" to use the common term received similar treatments, It just boggles my mind how we've changed, how everything has changed.
Back then, if they were told that the "Lovely Sector" would actually achieve a great deal, with members of the sector in a council for MCS or changing things that would effect micronationalists for years to come...
This is by no means bashing Ryan, Scott, Bill, Moose, or anyone who was around at that time who may or may not have done any noob bashing, "The Lovely sector will leave no impact on micronationalism" was the accepted theory and it has taken years of evidence to change that...
Although I would love to hear from Ryan, Scott, Bill, Moose etc on what they probably would have thought if they KNEW that the "Lovely Sector" WOULD make a huge difference...

They probably thought they and their nations were going to live forever.

Yeah, I remember in those days, any nation which joined around late 2005 or through the CIS was automatically called the 'Lovely Sector'.
Brings me back to how hard I tried to tell people that Matbaa was not Lovely Sector by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I hadn't even heard of Danny Wallace until I joined this hobby!
I suppose we were Kemetia Sector, probably...
Either way, people were very harsh on the new micronations. Some micronationalists were even referring to nations like Novatainia and Toketi as Lovely Sector as recent as a year ago.
I think back then that description was just used by old-timers to describe someone challenging their domination of the entire hobby.

Now I describe us as Gralus sector because I know all these old timers and recognise the similarity to Apollo Sector ...

Hm. Well, I don't think I was especially mean on that thread. I thought I did pretty well.
But you miss the grander point of that thread, which is that Bill was mocking you for EXACTLY the same thing Bill got mocked for when he was a n00b. Ten years from now, you'll be mocking the next guy for it. That's the Great Circle of Life.
Face it. You WERE a n00b back then. People had every right to laugh. The trick is laughing just hard enough that people have an incentive to smarten up, but not hard enough that they get driven away.

Actually, Toketi is Lovely Sector. Myself and two other founders were Lovelian military before creating Tokidoki.Maximos wrote:Some micronationalists were even referring to nations like Novatainia and Toketi as Lovely Sector as recent as a year ago.
