I'm not hopeful but does anyone know any component sites?
As it says in the topic, I'm looking for component websites, electronic components etc?
I have a few useful ones so far all with flaws :
- http://www.wwwrs.com/ RS components, massive range, only accepts visa mastercard and america express for online purchases postage is massive, nearest trade counter is corby (9.1 miles )
- http://www.maplin.com/ Maplin, nearest is kettering, postage is only £2.99, accepts paypal but it has a tiny range
- http://www.solarbotics.com/ Solarbotics, quite useful as I am making BEAM* robots and it sells very good very cheap very small solar panels but it's based in canada so that means massive postage charge.
So yeah, does anyone know any other components companies? please?
*BEAM stands for Biology Electronics Aesthetics Mechanics, usually BEAM robots are solar powered because solar power is fun and they go by the pilosophy of not overdoing it, i.e. don't put a microprocessor in a robot that just wants to oint towards light or change direction when it hits a wall when you only really need a couple transistors. quite fun

http://www.scan.co.uk/
^ This 'un is supposed to be pretty good.
I have a friend who's building an entire PC from scratch, and he recommends it.

Thanks guido, I shall look there for some cheaper components
Max, I think you misunderstood that or your friend is a genius and either making a very low spec room sized computer or is great at nanoengineering...
I mean electronic components, resistors, capacitors, 74AC240 integrated circuits etc whereas that site seems to sell computer components such as graphics cards, hard drives etc...
It's an easy mistake as I never really specified when saying components, sorry

http://www.newegg.com is where I go when I need an electronic part, but it's pretty computer specific I think.
