Go go go. Operation paperstorm.

Re: Go go go. Operation paperstorm.
I apologise for any offense I may have caused. I just found the whole idea of anons running around streets plastering them with this stuff quite funny (newfaggotry). I thought that would have been implicit to some extent. I forget that the cod's leg isn't just light hearted.
Sorry about the 'fuck off' thing by the way.
My reaction to the Iraqi war logs to some extent is one of moral revulsion - naturally I'm not going to tarnish the entire military of my country and that of the United States for these revelations. However, seeing the guncam footage from that apache and some of the material in the diaries is pretty harrowing stuff.

I think all is forgiven at this point. And I don't think it is a matter of the Cod's Leg not being light hearted as much as it is basically too soon. Way too soon, in fact the entire thing is still going on. The issue is way to heated and contraversial for it to be the subject of light hearted banter just yet. Especially in a politically eclectic place like Micras and indeed micronations as a whole.

To be fair I never said to fuck off, I was referring to a shut the fuck up campaign. Either way, it was me and not Ein to his benefit.
I appreciate the apology. Einhorn is spot on that there was no indication of levity, and it is too soon. Either way I'm mollified.

What (other) kind(s) of websites are off-limits for army personnel? Sites of foreign intelligence agencies? Those of political parties? Sites of extremist groups?King Ailin of Uantir wrote:For instance, as a Soldier, if I get caught visiting the Wiki Leaks site I will get an article 15 and I will get demoted.

Mostly extremist type stuff, from taliban to aryan nation. You can get UCMJ action for stuff like that. I'm sure if you were on some foreign nation's espionage hub they could get you for that. Technically bestiality is against the UCMJ, so you can get in trouble forbeing on such websites.

Looks like Harald has a solution for you, Ari:

I'm guessing I'll just stop bothering with my questions, then.

'Freedom herp-de-derp' is a good way to describe their ideology in many respects. It's similar to the way some student protestors have been behaving at the various occupations around the country- you try to politely make the pointI don't follow the 'freedom herp derp' rationale of many of the wikileaks activists - but regardless of how the information was transmitted, those of us who have read some of the wikileaks can't be told to just 'forget' the iraqi war logs and/or excuse them on the basis of how they were brought into the public sphere.
that the occupation is about an anti-cuts issue and isn't a free audience for the Socialist Workers' Party and Anarchists to spout their unworkable and ill-informed ideals to an already angry public, and they accuse you of 'censorship'.
With some people it seems freedom of speech is all or nothing- which is among many things impractical. People should try using some freedom of thought once in a while and their freedom of speech could be a little more valuable.
I also am beginning to tire of the descriptions of Assange's leaks of diplomatic cables as 'whistleblowing'- they're not. They're opinions from American diplomats about foreign relations, not indicators of government policy taken
as a result of those opinions. I feel much of the press (not least, the Guardian) have portrayed these leaks as far more groundbreaking than they actually are. Gulf Arab states disliking Iran? Not a secret.
Worry about Chinese influence in North Korea? People have speculated about that for years now.
Granted, much of it makes interesting reading as American diplomats can and do influence policy, but the media coverage of these leaks has been a splendid example of speculation and conjecture.
What I object to most, I suppose, is Assange becoming some martyred folk hero for freedom of speech.
Re: Go go go. Operation paperstorm.
...and the Iraq war logs? What about them? An additional 109,032 deaths? What about them?
Re: Go go go. Operation paperstorm.
Certainly very telling about a worrying tendency in American policy in Iraq, I agree.
We could go on like this for ages- you post a name of a WikiLeaks document revealing hideous crimes which would have otherwise been kept secret from an enraged public, I could respond with a document with innocent citizens' private information WikiLeaks had absolutely no right to distribute.
Ultimately in a legal framework the content is irrelevant- the action is what counts. The crime of stealing and illegally distributing private information is still a crime, regardless of whether that information documented a larger crime or not.
The Iraq War Files should be used as fresh evidence for American atrocities in Iraq, but similarly WikiLeaks has to be held accountable for breaking the law. Crimes don't 'trump eachother'- all criminals have to be held to account to some degree, whether they stole a chocolate bar or the Mona bloody Lisa.
I'd have thought that legal relativism would be anathema to clear-headed people. Seems I was wrong.
Make public your hatred of American foreign policy and you very probably could get away with murder.
