New Councillors time
The MCS has accepted the resignations of Malliki and Ric for the role of Council member. As such, Jonas will be promoted to the role of full Council member, effective as of the end of the notice period on 21 February.
As a result, we are now opening applications for the newly vacated roles; these will remain open until 19 February - and any interested individuals have the usual requirements to fulfil:
Applicants should, in no more than 500 words, summarise why they believe they are a suitable candidate for the Junior Council member position and specify any individual skills which could come in handy for any prospective future projects.
Thank you in advance to those interested individuals, and good luck! One full Councillor and one Junior Councillor will be selected, and the new candidates will commence their roles upon Jonas' promotion to full member. On behalf of the Council, I would like to thank Malliki and Ric for their service to the Council over the past year-or-so.

Re: New Councillors time
Dear Council,
In great appreciation to you, I would like to nominate myself for Councillor.
For years I have been making maps, such as the one for Batavia:

My work for Coordinated Micras Time:

And I am now working on a larger version of this geographical map:

As a Councillor, I would like to be involved in the consideration of claims to two spearheads: International collaboration and Geographic realism. In the developments of Arbor and Çakaristan, I consulted my neighbours, which led to good relations and peaceful cooperation. This should apply to everyone.
Geographical realism is very important. Therefore, I would like to work on a new version of the physical map. My thesis is: borders of nations should take into account the geographical features on Micras.
Signed,
Gustaaf Vermeylen a.k.a. Arkadius (Arky)

Re: New Councillors time
Esteemed Council,
I submit my name for consideration to join the Micras Cartography Society. I was briefly a member of the Council and would love to join the ranks of the Council once more. I have been involved on and off in Micras since 2002.
I am knowledgeable in the use of MS Paint and Paint.NET (having learned slowly over time), and I also have Photoshop and Illustrator. While I am only knowledgeable in these pieces of software at a novice level, I have proven that when I set my mind to learning something new, I can do it.
While these are not instances of mapping or cartography prowess, I can point to my heraldry work that has expanded beyond Dos Gardenias and New Alexandria - even Batavia and Leylstadt have started to rock some of the heraldry designs I've made for them over this last year. I understand that these projects do not relate to cartography, but they do show my ability to learn quickly and create solid results despite still learning.
I am active, committed, and value the importance of the Council and its decisions. As a member of the Council, I will recuse from voting on any claims where I may be perceived as having a potential for bias. I also promise to conduct myself with honesty and integrity for as long as I serve on the Council on MCS business.
If I vote against a claim, I will explain my reasoning. If I vote for a claim, I will also explain my reasoning. I will be fair and apply consistent standards whenever a vote is needed from me. Where I am wrong, I will admit so and correct myself.
I look forward to answering any questions or concerns from the MCS Council during this process, privately or publicly.
