Spangle removed from Council. New Council member nominations

Dr-Spangle has been relieved of his Council duties due to inactivity. It was agreed by the majority of other Council members that he should be removed from the Council and that a replacement should be found. Spangle appears to have accepted this decision upon saying that he found it suprising the matter had not been brought to attention earlier. Spangle will remain a forum administrator however, due to his hosting of the website and technological know-how.

As a result of this, the MCS has requested nominations from those people who are willing to fill Spangle's boots in the Council. We usually ask for a presentation of one's cartography skills, but since the MCS Council has effectively been restructured with no standard positions, we thought this would be an unsuitable method. Instead, all you have to do if you're interested is write a short paragraph on why you feel you're suited to the position in this thread within the next week (nominations close at 12:00 BST, 18 August)!

People cannot be nominated by someone other than themselves. It has also been mentioned that people may be suited for the position but might not feel so themselves - hey, y'never know, give it a go! Voting in the Council is often about making brave choices, so you might as well start with one! Any submissions posted after the deadline will not be considered - if you're not on the forum during an entire week, you're probably not active enough to be a Council member anyway. All (serious) applications submitted within the valid time will be considered by the MCS Council!

Nominations start... now!

I'll kick off then :P

I believe that this position would suit me, as I check these forums every day. I already have experience in positions of authority, having served two terms as a Vice Secretary-General in the OAM, and I currently sit on the FMF Council. After the September elections in the OAM, I will be switching my focus mainly to Micras, and it will make up a vast majority of my micronational activity. I have always been looking for more ways to increase my participation in this community, and this would be the ideal way to fulfill this ambition.

Well, having recently solved a bit of financial trouble I think I'm able. Rather than a paragraph, I will provide an itemized list.
  • I'm here often enough to be a consistent voting member.
  • I'm very good with pixels and maps (just go browse Normark).
  • I've been in the community since late 2007.
  • I would like to think that I am a good evaluator of the potential and viability of new nations and old nations reclaiming alike.
  • I enjoy investigating new micronations and therefor I find myself to be someone suited to evaluate the culture of a nation.
  • General experience having been the founder of 3 micronations, I generally know what to look for.
  • I'm super sexy fresh yeeeaaah!

I've been a regular user of the MCS since August 2003 despite an absence while undergoing a severe change of circumstances in real life. I'm active on an almost daily basis and am widely known in the community; as part of my role in the community i regularly look around a wide range of nations (usually at least 6 or 7) and tend to be neutral in any problems between individuals. As part of my real-life occupation I frequently have to take an unbiased view when voting on things (involving maps, funnily enough) and these skills are easy to transfer to MCS applications. Oh and i was once MCS and GSO cartographer simultaniously.

I'll throw my name into the hat too, even if only to give you the satisfaction of rejecting it.

Since I'm very much beloved at hub.mn, I want to nomnominate myself for this position. We need at least one person, I think, that opposes bullshit nations claiming stuffed toys as citizens. Oh, that's just a hypothetical example.

How about those nations that claim every living being on Earth? A fish, for example, is as sentient as is a stuffed toy.

The imagination has no limit, we live in a free world.

There is no argument here: you can claim what you like, but on the MCS, we only count real live unique people with an identifiable online presence. There's no need for any kind of discussion, let alone an argument, at all, and that goes for both sides.

How about morons that don't understand sarcasm?

You know I'm interested in the position....

I'm a perfectionist when it comes to graphic design, with Oscland's claims being pretty much pixel perfect (hense I get annoyed when big red writing goes across it :P )

I do web design, skilled in photoshop (and paint, ofc) and will actively be around to vote on claims as well as update the map on a regular basis. I also do web design (have done them for a couple of companies) so can update map archive thingy no problem.

Been in the hobby since 2005 (despite absense) so know the drill.

Like Malliki I find it about astounding that people claim stuffed toys, for example, as citizens that count towards the size of their claim, and would therefore not be strict, but impliment a bit more vigure when it comes to accepting claims willy nilly.

Best Regards

Oscar

Some nations have as presidents cats or dogs. Others just counts them as citizens.

Which nations would that be?

St. Charlie had a dog president for one or two years. Also there are many nations on MicroWiki who claim dogs/cats/fish etc.

Quoting from molossia.org: Population: 8 humans, 4 dogs, 1 cat; total 13

Wow, and people wonder why I dislike MicroWiki.

Y'know we're not auditioning for a Cartographer, right, Oscar? Although if you're willing to release "special" maps regularly, that could be deemed pretty helpful :P
