New, "Official Nation Rating" system
The Forumlist in association with OMRC* bring you the "Official Nation Rating" feature. Using a marks scheme and criteria made up of ten separate areas OMRC gave every ‘alive’ nation on the Forumlist a rating out of 10.0. These ten areas were; Activity, Culture, Governing skill, Micras territory, Realism, Aesthetics, Approachability, Imagination, Spam/Real ratio and MN world presence. Ratings will only be updated by request using the form located in your nations rating page, none shall be update to at least one month senior to the previous update and only request an update if you truly believe you nation has improved.

Re: New, "Official Nation Rating" system
Just wondering, how does the spam/real ratio work?

I like the idea. I'm only wondering about how you give points to nations with another language.

Re: New, "Official Nation Rating" system
I'd like to see whoever's idea this was to put up an explanation clearly showing how each category was calculated. EDIT: IE the Criteria. If you want to remain anonymous (Spangle certainly won't tell) that's your prerogative, but at least make it clear where you're getting these numbers from. As it is, there seem ... oddities from what the titles intuitively suggest.
For example, the Micras Territory rating and the Activity rating seem very ... odd. Babkha gets 1.0 for Micras Territory, and Shireroth only gets 0.8. So it can't be on size (Shireroth is bigger). Can it be on development? I doubt that too, considering what I know of Shirithian and Babkhan land developments. At the other end, Adraisia gets 0.3 and they're not even on the map anymore. I won't comment on Novatainia or Toketi's numbers.
Activity is equally odd. Babkha, who's been suffering low bouts of activity recently (hence the change to old boys club), and hasn't had a post count above 19.8 since 2008, get 0.9 for activity. Toketi, Shireroth and Lovely, who tend to hit 70+, only get a 1.0, 0.1 difference. No differentiation seems to be there between, say, Antica (average around 24 ppd); Novatainia (who think its the end of the world if they ever drop below 25 ppd); Toketi/Shireroth (cruising at 70-100) and Lovely (100+ consistently). Surely Lovely should get 1, Shireroth and Toketi 0.9, Novatainia and equivalent 0.8, Antica and those around 20-30 ppd 0.7 etc ...
I won't even begin on the 'Imagination' one, but to rest my case - Lovely gets a spam/real ratio of 0.8. Lovely.*
*For those who might say "Ahh, but the Lovely forum Guido and Monty run doesn't have much spam on it," No, it doesn't. But it clearly doesn't merit a 1.0 for activity either, so the fact that Lovely has been awarded both says something extremely dodgy is going on.

Re: New, "Official Nation Rating" system
Well, I got a low score for it, Adraisia got a high score, I didn't look too much further. I just picked up the ones that looked obviously wrong.
Oh, for the record, Nelaga needs changing, even if it hasn't been a month.
http://dr-spangle.com/Forumlist/rating.php?ID=211
Activity should probably be around 0.6 (based on the standards I suggested - on the standards apparently evident a 0.. Micras Territory - if Adraisia can get a 0.3 probably 0.5/0.6. Certainly shouldn't both be 0.0 And imagination 0.5? Come on, look at BGI and tell me that's not imaginative ...

Amoria, if Nelaga gets something, needs points for land as well...
Re: New, "Official Nation Rating" system
I don't think it's fair to include a Micras rating.
True micronations don't participate in those ridiculous virtual worlds; only micronational impersonators and "sim-nations" do.
If the Spam/Real rating is a judgment of how serious a nation is, then please bump FedCom's rating in that category all the way to the highest level.

Re: New, "Official Nation Rating" system
Who is on the OMRC? What is the OMRC?
(Not sure if "realism" is a fair measure, since it's assuming that being realistic is always good. Nova scores low on realism, but since they're trying to simulate a fantasy world, that means they're doing things right and achieving their goal. Yet it still gets subtracted from their rating in the same way that them being inactive or poorly governed would. I agree with Andreas' confusion on how the ratings were carried out.)

Re: New, "Official Nation Rating" system
I've made use of the corrections procedure by saying what should be increased for Craitland, going by how I interpret what each section means. Hopefully it shouldn't be too much of an ask, seeing as we were rated strangely low on one aspect...

Re: New, "Official Nation Rating" system
Most people I've talked to found themselves rated strangely low on at least one thing ... which suggests whoever's running this either doesn't know what they're doing, or has different interpretations for each thing from the intuitive ones. Hence, it would be nice to get what criteria they're using to score each section ...

Re: New, "Official Nation Rating" system
Hopefully the others' low points were also kind of ironic, like ours. Low on realism? I'm one of the leading exponents for micronational realism
