I don't understand
why NB is interested in this at all. Did they claim the island? When?
Do they want to claim it? Did they give any hint of claiming it? What is the trouble?
So we are big. So is Canada. So is Brazil. Who is angry with them for being what they are? Should Canada give up Vancouver I. or P.E.I., or Newfoundland? Or Baffin I? etc.?

OOC: Someone point me to where the post about six shots being fired was made?KingEdward wrote:6th Cousin
“What the hell are they doing here?†Admiral Jameson demanded of his radar officer who simply shrugged absentmindedly as he continued to watch the two blips on his radar screen. “And they definitely fired at us?†Jameson asked as he turned to his Chief Warfare officer. “Yes Sir. So far around 6 shells have been fired at us from around 15 miles off. The CIWS has intercepted them so far but I don’t think we should just be letting them do it, its unprovoked aggression pure and simple.†James sighed heavily as he strolled to the bridge window and looked down at the hundreds of men bustling on the deck at their battle stations before his eyes rose to two specks on the horizon across the choppy seas, “stupid bastards†he muttered.
Picking up the radio control set the Admiral took a deep rattling breath before flicking the switch to transmit and speaking calmly into the microphone, “Copters BM1 & BM2, this is Admiral Jameson. You have clearance to engage enemy vessels with Sea Skua. I repeat immediately engage enemy vessels with Sea Skua. Out†Having received the message loud and clear the Merlin helicopters acquired the two Shireithian ships with their radar and, once within range, fired. The aircraft turned quickly and headed back towards the Holton as the 8 missiles whipped across the water in two groups of four towards their respective targets. As the beating of the blades of the helicopters grew louder the crew of the RMS Holton stood still beneath the streaming national banner upon the flagstaff, the ship held its breath and prayed for deliverance as the Sea Skua missiles reached their supersonic speed and closed on the enemy.
Summary: The RMS Holton’s two helicopters fire 8 Sea Skua missiles at the Shireithian ships, 4 for each ship.

We claimed it before Shireroth did

Ardy brings up a good point that many people seem to have missed.
Edward claims that 6 shots were fired upon the RMS Holton. WHEN. Never did Erik order them to fire; they are holding position as it is, not firing and not moving. So did you honestly fire the first shot, or was that a misinterpretation of Erik telling you that warning shots WILL BE FIRED, WILL BE being the operative term here in case you hadn't noticed.

I'd like to point out that a CIWS is a generic system term and does not specify which type of CIWS. I'm going to assume Bosworth is referring to the Phalanx. If thats the case, the Phalanx system is an ANTI-MISSILE system. Where as the warning shots fired at the Bosworth ship were cannon rounds. If you can first state which CIWS system Bosworth is using (with a historical citation) and second, a source which states a case where that particular CIWS system has been used against cannon fire we will accept the intercepted hit.
So if we're going to do this (and we are) lets begin by appointing a moderator for the war. I submit that Pete (as administrator) should moderate the war.

WHOA!
If Jeremy DID claim that island in April, then the story is very different. I must not have recognized it as the same island.
If that is the case , I erred, and I apologize.
Can we modify the claim?
No, Erik did not fire a shot. Perhaps the engines on our adversaries vessel backfired, causing some trigger-happy person in the ranks to fire in error.
Let's give peas a chance.

I have been in micronationalism for three years this year, and I have NEVER seen an incident as childish as this one. Two nations basically bitching over an island which now I see it should belong to New Britannia since they put an expansion in for it and Shireroth vacating the island a while back and also Bosworth acting like complete and utter n00bs just for the sake of it. I really do believe that the GSO and other mapping organisations would really be laughing their heads of regarding this situation it is making us look seriously incompetent and childish I mean what are we? three years old? come on people get a grip! I considered MCS to be one of the most professional mapping organisations in micronationalism but this is certainly changing my whole concept on it.

Actually the phalanx has been proven to be able to take down artillerys shells by peppering the are with rounds after its radar picks up the incoming shell.
And Marc, if this is indeed the most childish thing you've seen in micronationalism it further proves the point that you don't proof read your posts.

From this point forth, I'd like the participating states to consider this the in-character thread. If anyone wishes to make comments about the futility of war, the asinine nature of this conflict or post their opinions of philosophy in general, feel free to start an out of character thread. Could I suggest the working title "Peanut Gallery"?

King Edward,
Find me a source where it states that, (including the URL) and we'll agree to your missile interception. And I'm assuming you've decided on the Phalanx, could you please provide a reference in your orbat where it states that.
Thank you,

Where have you been? Things like this happen on the GSO all the time and the only reason they don't happen on the Arras Map is that most people are unaware of its existance. As for the real world may I refer you to the following:marcevans wrote:I have been in micronationalism for three years this year, and I have NEVER seen an incident as childish as this one. yes I admit I have had childish parts of my micronational career but I believe now that I am much more mature. This is defiantly the most childish and petty thing I have ever seen. And Edward do not go around throwing comments like that I am not the one who has just acted like a complete and utter n00b and interfered in this matter. I really consider Bosworth to be highly incompetent to the way things are run. You are the most arrogant and icompetant person I have ever come across you even manage to beat Jess to becoming even more of a n00b that he can ever wish to be. this is my final word on the matter.
