(OOC: I don't have the time to write this up elaborately.)
The 8 missiles launched at the Sparta and Brutus being spotted as they came in met with anti-missile defenses and electronic countermeasures, and 4 were detonated before reaching. Two were confused, one stuck the water harmlessly and the other struck the water near the Sparta causing light damage to the outer hull, one sailor was killed and several sustaining minor injuries. Another missed the Sparta all together and flew past and struck water. One missile detonated causing damage to the Brutus' aft sections. Several sailors in the engine room were killed, and one of the rear turrets was damaged causing it to not be able to do high angle firing. A small fire broke out on the deck, but was quickly extinguished, 1 sailor was killed in the blaze, and 2 others had various burns.
Having been fired upon by the enemy ship, the Sparta and Brutus charged forward at full speed. Moving forth at over 30knts the ships opened fire the second they entered range, firing shell after shell at the Holton. Even if the Holton could deflect a warning shot fired, intending to miss, with a system untested against rounds at sea, there was no way it could deflect countless directed rounds, targeting the Holton midship.
Further, the Captain of the Sparta called for reinforcements from the IRS Thunder Child.

(OOC: sorry.. wrong number... meant 50 (yes.. I looked it up.. it is possible in a frigate.) wait.. was the knts of kph... damn it...
And if you actually read.. I didn't stop all 8 missiles. Some detonated early, some splashed harmlessly, one hit near the Sparta and caused damage and killed someone. the Brutus took hits and lost crew, and had a fire... And after reading up on the missiles you used, I find that I estimated the damage more or less correct)

I wish I actually knew about military technology.. This is what I get for studying psychology and computer science.)

Fine, I'll do it in the future. Not habit for me. I'm always having to go back and fix my grammar and spelling in posts. Just seems trivial to me.
Oh yeah. Since I didn't want to double post. Sorry, didn't mean to violate some convention.
(edit: added apology so I didn't have to double post)

(OOC: Yardistan reconizes a 12 mile limit, less in navigable straits. The big guns have a range of over 20 nautical miles)
Huge clouds of smoke rolled up from the bosworthian countryside, but the big guns were unfazed. One after another of enemy road junctions were cratered.
"Continue fire at optimal rate, Number One," said the Captain.
"Aye sir!" she replied.
A yeoman handed the Exec a note. "From the radio room Ma'am."
Her eyes said it all. Her Willie was dead, one of the first casualties of the war.
"Launch Tomahawk #1!"shouted Captain O'Keefe.
Crumpling the note in her slender hands, the Exec forced back her tears.
"Aye Sir! Tomahawk away!"

Nobody going to stop and go to a proper forum with proper orbats then?
I guess we'll take this as the pre-war opening show.

OOC: Just pointing out the Lorraine is unarmed, not that that's likely to stop you, but just so you know. Also, as Lannion is around 26 miles inland and the ship Jacobus is using has a range of 23 miles i'm not going to provide any damage reports from the attack unless you want me to count trees as casualties. The cold wind rattled the small window panes of Ambion Palace in Shrewsbury, the howling of the elements intruding on the silence of the room within. A solitary candle illuminated the huge chamber from its place upon a wide desk behind which a tall gentleman dressed in fur robes to ward off the cold sat with his head bowed in thought. Somewhere in the darkened corners of the room the sound of a latch interrupted the serene silence followed by the long screech of the heavy oak door being pushed open. “Your Majesty?†a voice enquired. The hunched figure behind the desk raised his head in response and the new arrival announced “28,000 killed, Sire.†A nod signalled that King Edward had understood and his private secretary retreated from the room once more with the sound of the heavy door being dragged closed and silence was restored but for the sound of the wild wind beating against the exposed side of the palace.
“28,000 killed.†The words flashed through Edwards head as he sat in the flickering light of the candle, a solitary glow in an otherwise dark world. He pondered the part he had played in causing the destruction of Lannion and cupped his face in his hands, how had it come to this? Realising the futility of his sense of regret the King decided to act. “Mr Morris?†His Majesty called, the creaking of the door answered him and soon his private secretary was lingering on the edge of the ring of candlelight looking expectant. “Command they make ready the Lorraine, Morris, I sail at dawn.†The servant took a few moments of hesitation to realise what he was being asked to do before muttering “As you wish, Sire†and obediently vacating the chamber once more, King Edward then returned to his thoughts and waited for the first beams of morning light to appear through the small glass panes of the window and pierce the darkness which had surrounded His Majesty since he first heard of the devastation at Lannion.
Soon enough a faint orange glow appeared above the crowded thatched rooftops of Shrewsbury and, right on time, King Edward stepped out of the wooden framed structure of the palace onto the quay which jutted out into the flowing waters of the River Hamble and there as ordered floated the Royal Yacht Lorraine in waiting for The King’s arrival. The Lorraine was a strange ship in that it possessed high wooden masts and sails and by all accounts resembled a Galleon, however could one see through the murky waters of the river propellers would be visible and this was how the ship generally propelled itself for the sake of speed. So it was that on a bright spring morning King Edward of Bosworth left the Palace of Ambion and boarded his yacht the HMY Lorraine, the golden lions and fleur-de-lis dancing high above in the gentle breeze. While his trip had been a spur of the moment idea King Edward’s leaving wasn’t unknown to the people or Shrewsbury who lined the banks of the river in their thousands to see off their monarch.
A sea of red and blue greeted the King’s eyes as he looked across the grey waters of the river to the banks from his place on the foredeck, the Royal colours adorning every man woman and child who had come out into the morning chill to watch the Lorraine set off into the unknown. When the moorings had been cast off the yachts engines roared into life and the vessel slid quietly out into the centre of the river and began to sail north. Cheers and shouts erupted from the crowds on either bank as the Lorraine glided through the golden waters of the river, which had by new been illuminated by the quickly rising sun, and the King waved to his people for what he feared would be the last time.
Just when King Edward had considered retreating to his quarters he heard singing drifting across the water from the banks and so stopped where he stood. “Land of hope and glory, mother of the free†the voices began and as they sang ever more people joined in the chorus until the sound of the anthem filled the air of the city and hearts of all who heard it. The colours upon the flagstaff responded to the heavenly sound of the harmony by unfurling to the morning light, the golden thread glowing angelically as the light breeze caused the flag to stream and dance high above the deck where King Edward stood. However soon the estuary widened and the singing grew fainter before it was replaced by the soothing sound of the sea and King Edward took one last glimpse of the land he loved as he continued to glide ever closer to the fate that awaited him in the west.

(OOC: At least the forests are shot to blazes).
Speeding over the tops of the trees, hugging the contour of the land, the Tomahawk sped on in a generally northwestern direction. Soon the onboard computer sensed its arrival. Plunging micrasward, the missle detonated. It's target, the adminstrative administrative center of La Roche-Derrien heaved as though smote by the wrath of Mors himself.
Willie had been avenged.
