[Babkha] Gunboat Dispatched to Hamland
16 Mordad 1387 / 06 August 2008
Office of the Grand Vizier
Keshvari Shahanshahi yeh Babkha
1. In response to the unfortunate and provocative decision of the Hamland Government to close its borders to the citizens of Babkha, the Britannic Empire, the Empire of the Alexandrians, the Kingdom of Lovely and the Kingdom of Tellia, His Imperial Majesty's Government has announced a similar set of restrictions concerning citizens of Hamland in order to prevent them from falling prey to enraged patriotic sentiment.
2. Additionally HMS Islas de Minorcas has been ordered to set sail for Hamland on its first operational tour in order to monitor that country for any further signs of hostile intent.
The Kingdom of Tellia has reacted similarly and supports the Babkhan decision to send a ship to monitor the situation. I would like to inquire as to whether there might be room on that ship for a small Tellian Delegation? We can have them flown in immediately, if so.

Agreed. If your delegation can proceed to Baltyabad in the Kumara Khanate the Islas de Minorca will put into port to collect them.
A message from the Hammish Government:
We are asking you not to send any military vessels to Hamland. The decision was made to impose travel restrictions as we did not want to have any situations involving people form other nations to fall victim to kidnapings.
The action was not meant to be provocative and we would like to say that diplomats are still allowed into our country.
We do not wish for any conflict to occur, and are asking you not to send any vessels into our territory as we made it clear that it will be seen as an act of aggression. We currently have support from other nations to keep the situation in Hamland as stable as possible and we do not want any more help.
Thanks,
King Lewis

Message to the Babkhan Government
HMS Islas de Minorcas has full permission to use the docks located on the Nova English Virgin Islands for refueling and resupply whilst the Virgin Island Defence Battalions are on call if needed. As a message of support to the Babkhan government over the current situation.

As General of the Virgin Island Defense Battalions I would like to agree whole-heartedly with HRH King Josephus, and offer my forces, should the need arise for them to go into combat.
Also, the nearest docks would be that owned by Martel-Feuer Corp. as executive of M-F I give permission for these docks to be used, ships can also be repaired here if needs be.

The Kingdom of Lovely would like to state that the actions of the King of Hamland are undeniably provocative in an already dangerous situation. Furthermore, it condemns this nonsense that the measures are to protect our citizens from kidnappings. This is clearly acting against our alliance and our wish to ensure democracy throughout Micras. We demand such restrictions be lifted on the free movement of our peoples or similiar and possibly harsher restrictions will be placed on the movement of Hamish people.

How is it an act against your alliance? What exactly are you losing out on?
Hamland is in a difficult situation, we have allies who are communist and our Purple Movement who have run the Country democratically for the past 2 years are seen as socialist. Of course we're going to be worried about the safety of people from countries who are going to try and impose capitalism on the world. Taeland's civil war ended just at the end of last year. I am not someone who imposes things out of power, I pride myself of looking after people no matter what nationality, and I pride myself in integrity. When the political climate is cooled I shall take the travel restrictions off.

I put the restrictions on your alliance as it is openly anti-socialist. We feel under pressure and we have communist allies.
I am acting from experience. I know that in times of difficulty, that there are some overly nationalist people who will endanger the lives of other people. I have asked some nations to help Hamland, for the time being I will not lift the restrictions. I have posted in Babkha's forum to try and find a resolution, apparently due to Brittania's restrictions I can't even get diplomats into your country, so discussions are not an easy option at the moment.
