Freedom is costly, therefore negating its nature. Or are you doing a Blake "servant in heaven < prince in hell"?

Congrats!Scott Alexander wrote:As of today, I have been in micronationalism ten years. I first discovered the hobby in August 1999, and now it's August 2009. Please heap either congratulations or mockery upon me, at your discretion.
For the historians among you, that also makes it the tenth birthday of the Apollo Sector.
It feels very unusual to know two people now, who've been micronationalists longer than I have. I feel so young and inexperienced, with my mere 9 years, 10 months and 20 days. And it makes me feel less bad about having wasted so much time!

That is pretty impressive Scott... I hadn't even discovered the internet in 1999... in August 1999 I would've just turned six... ooosh, does that make you feel old now?

Re: Ten years
in 1999... hmm
i was 7...
hmm
The ONLY thing I remember from that year is laughing about the date being the ninth of the ninth of the ninety ninth while standing in the lunch queue at school.
so presumably, that was the 9th of september 1999.

Re: Ten years
I had my ninth birthday in 1999 (ages are so much easier to work-out when you're born in a year ending with 0). Oh, and our glue tasted of chicken...

My glue tasted of Neil Buchanan's happiness...

Congratulations!!
10 years is indeed a landmark!
Anyone who can endure 10 years as a micronationalist is indeed a piece of work!
