Probably leaving
http://hamlandgov.hostingdelivered.com/ ... f=12&t=780
I'm actually fed up. I made my decision today and will not be talked out of it. Kovac goes or I go. I'm fed up of him saying all this stuff about me and I'm annoyed that any thought of justice for the failed attempt at unfairly annexing Hamland was out the window as soon as I went a way for a while.
I leave it for you to decide yourself.

What do you think much of the personal motivation for this war has been for most of its participants?Kovac goes or I go
Re: Probably leaving
War's not going to solve it. I've managed to sort out so many conflicts in my time here (3 years as of the 11th) without wars and only words. All you will do is knock him of a militaristic high-horse. I just don't want to have anything to do with the cretin.

Because it doesn't solve the problem. He's throwing all sorts of made up rubbish about and sticking my fingers in my ears doesn't solve it. I will not stand for letting someone attack my integrity, and nor do I come here to be insulted. I'm leaving if he doesn't leave because he's done so much to ruin our community and gets away with it every time. It'll solve the problem fi I leave because I can do something else and know I did all I could to try and solve the problem.

Re: Probably leaving
Depriving the hobby of a great mind is almost as despicable. By leaving, you do that, you hurt the community more than Kovac ever could as you will have caused the community to shrink. Kovac isn't a part of this community, he is just a troll under our proverbial bridge, nixing him will be a relief, losing you will be a loss to this community.

Re: Probably leaving
To tell you the truth, I would rather have you leave.
Kovac may be my enemy, but he sure does make things damn fun.

Well said, Nick.Kovac isn't a part of this community, he is just a troll under our proverbial bridge, nixing him will be a relief, losing you will be a loss to this community.
Lewis, at the end of the day, micronationalism, like any other community, thrives on mutual respect and common courtesy.
Kovac has proved he has, at best, a tenuous grasp of these notions, and although it doesn't seem to be happening today, it may not happen tomorrow, maybe not next month or next year, but one day Kovac as a micronationalist will either leave the hobby or understand the errors of his ways.
Seriously, what goes around often comes around, and when that day comes you'll feel good in the knowledge that eventually, right prevailed. Leaving the community today won't help that state of affairs arise at all.

I reiterate what others are saying here (except Jess). If we could choose, I'm pretty sure a vast majority would want him to go instead.

Re: Probably leaving
Make you a deal. I'll take this marginally seriously, providing you actually leave. If you don't, or you come back three days later, I'm assuming it's a possibly sincere but histrionic attempt to make Kovac feel guilty or make the rest of us hate him while basking in moral indignation and self-righteousness.
Am I the only person who's never had the slightest problem with Matt, aside from maybe his waffling on 720 release dates? He makes things more interesting ("the Diga Effect"), he's writing a halfway-decent intermicronational newspaper (a rarity which is worth its weight in gold) and he's never bothered me in the slightest. I'm about 80% sure if you stop bothering him he'll stop bothering you.
Now if people would stop posting "I HATE KOVAC SO MUCH" articles to MCS, we could all get on with our normal lives, or at least the closest approximation to "normal lives" that micronationalists could aspire to having.

Unfortunatley I have learned that he is stubbornly ignorant. He will not realise he's in the wrong, look at his reaction to the spying scandal, instead of him going "sorry I've been caught" he's in fact merely created utter nonsense about me and tried to turn it into a victory. He is a man without morality and no matter what you say about him, he'll just deny it.Kovac has proved he has, at best, a tenuous grasp of these notions, and although it doesn't seem to be happening today, it may not happen tomorrow, maybe not next month or next year, but one day Kovac as a micronationalist will either leave the hobby or understand the errors of his ways.
If you actually look at the last milleniumnews post up to and including 720, it shows how he is intent on turning it into something for attacking myself. It's not quality, there is as much quality as the Sun. He starts off calling me a great leader and at the time understood that I've had power in Hamland for so long because the people want me to have it. Then he picks on war threats made by a marginal outsider as I begin to disagree with Ocia over them firing missiles over us, he then reports on my attempts to get some supportbehind us to try and stop Ocia firing missiles over us, then after the spying thing he posts a massive one sided story about me planing this all and then he accuses me of a dictatorship. It's not quality at all, he's using it as some sort of way of asserting power. He even said that if I were to be friends with Ocia then he's write positively about me.Am I the only person who's never had the slightest problem with Matt, aside from maybe his waffling on 720 release dates? Regardless of how he has acted towards you, he has acted towards members of this community in a highly negative manner, and it goes back a long time. This dubious nature of attacking people and using this as a way of asserting power is not contributing, but taking a sense of being able to play others like a game.
You can look at his morality and ask if he is someone who is worthy of being here. I never say he is all bad because he has done some good, but the crimes he has tried to commit towards Hamland and Uantir, the negative demeanor and his entire art in micronationalism of being a troll has gone unpunished and people are merely saying to ignore it. It doesn't solve anything, pretending things don't happen is the problem with society today, I can't sit here and read him posting lies about me any longer and so I'm doing this as a last stand. For god's sake punish him for the things he's done.
Also, having a troll figure makes things interesting in a silly level. It's far too easy to claim some sort of a high ground. Remember the days before he was here when we used our time attacking grammar and geographical errors? There is always something or someone to argue about, but I'd rather people be grammar nazis than let a person who is possibly the most unbelievably insane person I've ever met on our board.
@ Nick. I know I would be some form of a loss to the community, but my talents could be more focussed somewhere else. I see it however as important that people pay for their actions, and if Kovac is not going to be punished in some sort of manner and we all just solve problems by ignoring them then I don't want to be involved because I don't understand what you get out of ignoring problems. I can think of so many examples of why ignoring a problem is bad, Africa, Cancer, War and I refuse to bring Godwin's law into this.
I have tried all I can to try and get him banned and it's not worked. Therefore I'm doing this as a last ditch attempt to try and get something done. I think everyone knows how much of a prat he's been towards members of the community and they know that we'd probably have been better off over the last 2 years if he'd not been here as we'd have used our time to develop hte hobby rather than say "shut up" to him.

Anyone remember curtis, jacob, manslayer, kilroy? they were cool guys... they caused disagreements and wars too.. funLewis wrote: Also, having a troll figure makes things interesting in a silly level. *Nods* scott and spangle are right.. I mean.. whats wrong with kovac? Ok, he has an ego double the size of jupitor, he sometimes lashes out as those who lash out at him and occasionally has whackey, and.. strange plans of annexion. But besides that its either all unsecured rumour, probably spread around by others to get kovac hated even more, and the relay from one side to the other of people yelling 'go to hell' at each other, in different ways.
I realise some people just don't get on.. but theres ways and means of ignoring people, and having the balls to ignore comments telling you to 'go to hell', to get on with your own business. Replying only spurs on matters.. as does threatening to leave. Even if kovac /were/ doing it to be a prick, a person he doesn't like leaving would just be one less problem to worry about, right? If you 'really' want to leave micronationalism because you don't enjoy all of it anymore.. then sure, go. If you only don't enjoy one part, or if one person is making it unenjoyable for you.. you're just gunna sack all the enjoyment you /do/ get.. all the friends you have.. cause of one, possibly small, element? Seems stupid to me.

Re: Probably leaving
Rebecca is right in that you should just ignore him. Kovac will never leave, nor can anyone really make him unless he does something illegal to the MCS. I really gave up on trying to make a difference with Kovac a loooooong time ago. Now I just laugh at what he does, rather than go "ZOMG KOVAC IS DOING <insert something stupid here>".
As I said, losing him would be a relief, but it will never happen. But losing you would be a complete loss to us. So why not just ignore him TRULY rather than purposefully going to check up on him all the time? Block his MSN, stop going to MNews, stop going to the Ocian forums, put him on your MCS foe list so his posts will be ignored for you. Rather than be a child and hurt the hobby more than the person you're bitching about, be a man and actually ignore him. Because for some reason I have a feeling you're not 100% ignoring him.
Livlandia refuses to take part in anything involving Matt Kovac, we don't have the "OMG GUESS WHAt kOVAC IS DOING" problem because WE DO NOT CARE, we actually ignore him. And we are a better nation for it. So by all means, leave if it makes you truly miserable, but don't leave just to come back 3 days later or just because of some idiot who has nothing good to say. You're giving MCS Administrators an ultimatum of either stabbing the hobby in the back or banning Kovac....
With that you're basically ostracizing yourself from the community with a plan like that. FOOLISHNESS!
I will no longer speak on this subject as I find it is 1.going to feed Kovac like a starving Ethopian at a free all-you-can-eat buffet in Vegas and 2. giving us all a sick ultimatum when we've all learned to just forget about Kovac.
