New nation!
Yeah.. ignore what I said in the other thread..
Zach Anderson, Red Baron and I have decided to begin planning a new nation. But.. our plans leave a mystery gap and we need a fourth member. The member will be given a quarter of the nation to work with to be shaped into whatever culture they want, as long as it doesn't clash with any of ours and 'fits in a colonial American model...so keeps roughly to the country European/western feel..'. Though, so far we have a rough plan of one section American, one section Mythical, one section undecided so far, so anything goes
The government will work similarly to the old Vanderveer model, where there are a set of 'council members' with one equal prince regent/princess regent'-esque person. And there will be a central 'federal' as normal with minister positions.
There are no boards, yet.. as we want to try and get ideas down before turning this into a proper nation. But, fi anyone is interested, or wants to know more about the nation ideas so far and/or the position thats open.. then feel free to privately contact, or reply to this thread.
Right! Wonderful!

*curiosity is piqued*
Considering my other independent projects have flopped, I may be interested. I'm very curious to see how someone fits "mythical" in the "American colonial" model.

Re: New nation!
Today I was thinking that all the countries in Micras tend to be developed countries, and no under-developed country exists (funny how can be a developed one without an underdeveloped one...)
So, maybe that colonial america can do something about this...
Good luck with it!

Re: New nation!
I should state that the "colonial America" is a bit of a misnomer on my part. Really what we are toying around with is the idea of "what if America had become a monarchy instead of a republic" and adding in the idea of having difference cultures making up the kingdom (ie: American, Mythical, British, Celtic, etc..). Admittedly a bit different, but could prove to be quite interesting.
Re: New nation!
I'm unsure whether to take that as a positive or negativeToday I was thinking that all the countries in Micras tend to be developed countries, and no under-developed country exists (funny how can be a developed one without an underdeveloped one...)
Yes, to give a bit of information on how the ideas merged. I was thinking, firstly about bringing back Vanderveer. I did love that place. But, nations arising from the dead is never a good idea, as there was a reason why its gone. So I was all quite wondering what I should do, beginning discussion with one nation about the possibility of starting my idea as a duchy.
Then Zach comes online and said 'hey! I have an idea for a new nation you might be interested in'.. and it catches me out.. I'm thinking 'oh.. someone who wants to start a country?'.. he explains how he wants to make an american themed micronation, dwelling on a conversation we had the other day about how strange it would be like if the UK and US swapped 'leadership' style. I listened and thought abot what I liked about Vanderveer and wether I could find a way to merge the two.
One of the things I enjoyed from Vanderveer was the range of cultures, which seemed at the time to not have much of a link. People tend to avoid having more than one culture in the nation (rightly, or unrightly so..) and there are so many themed nations that are just based on one. So.. what if I took that aspect.. many cultures.. a disneyparkesque feel and encorporate it. But what cultures?.. what felt defined enough to really stand out and give you a lot to go off.
And what about scenary? Well, America suely has a lot of areas.. ranging from ice and snow near canada, to hot fresh beaches. With history reaching back to us good old brits went and stole it from native americans, to the wild west frontiers with their horses pounding the sand.
Next we began to brainstorm other ideas that seemed.. prominant. Not, perhaps, specific cultures.. just any strong ideas that could fuel imagination. I personally, love dragons.. which was sort of a good reason to look into myths. And then I contacted Redbaron, as he'd put the mcs thread up about new nations contacting him. He said he would be interested and suggested the possibility of celts and said he'd think about some more.
With the idea system in swing.. next was the political arrangement. Different things suit different tastes.. but I did think the Vanderveer system would work. So, I suggested. The four themed sections to the nation should be ruled by four individual 'leaders' who can hold a political party if they wish. One of these is the main elected official, perhaps called princess/prince regent/king/queen. This can change regularly on voting systems and such. The 'regent/king' is of equal status to the other three 'princes/princesses' which forms a council. Alongside this council, we have ministers ect, which can incude the council members, if need be for times of low citizen count.
And that was as much as we'd discussed before posting here. Huzzah!
