FNORDs?
Scott's not here this year, so someone needs to get them set up, get a panel together, get nominations in etc
Erm... I'm not sure I can do medals or not, It costs quite a bit (about £70 last year) and I'm in uni now, but I would feel bad not doing them again, so if there's a lot of interest for them, they might appear...

It is a lot of money from your own pocket into the hobby. If I won one, I'd feel guilty, but then it's unlikely so I won't be feeling any guilt

Re: FNORDs?
I wouldn't expect whoever runs them to get medals, I know I'm the only simulationist mad (mad in a good way... right?) enough for that
It's certainly not certain I'll get medals though, it would require a very favourable financial situation.

Re: FNORDs?
As cool as medals would be, ja, it would cost a good amount of money to have anything good made. Perhaps around this time this coming year I could be bothered to make the medals myself. I plan on building a decent furnace for smelting and casting purposes. It wouldn't be hard to make some molds and cast them from home-made bronze. Naturally I would have to be contracted for this work, but it wouldn't be expensive. I would just ask for the cost of the materials.
I'd do it now but unfortunately I am in between moving and setting up a decent furnace isn't practical for me. I'll be relocating some 500 miles away in January, so taking the time, money and resources to build such a thing now just isn't going to happen.

Re: FNORDs?
And the brought ones worked out at about £7 each last year including engraving and postage
Although, That was in Thrapston, where I had to travel about 20 miles to find an engraving place...
In swansea I've seen no less than 3 different places, competition = low prices, right?

I'll sit as a judge again if someone is needed for the panel.
Re: FNORDs?
Instead of buying the medals for the winners, make the winners buy the award iff they want to have it. That might sound absurd, but in the Army I have to buy medals I win and some cost about as much.

Re: FNORDs?
Please say this doesnt mean someone actually owns a medal bearing the name of an award named after me...dr-spangle wrote:I'm not sure I can do medals or not, It costs quite a bit (about £70 last year)
Re: FNORDs?
Actually, we all bought t-shirts with your name printed on them. We may rent a billboard too.
