FNORDs 2010
You know you're getting old when the kid who used to be a newb is now running the FNORDs...
Anyway, it's that time of year again.
I suggest we stick to last year's categories, though if anyone has any suggestions as to changes or names they will be more than welcome!
Anyone who is interested in being a judge, please PM me or reply here.

Re: FNORDs 2010
As long as I've been in the hobby I've criticised the FNORDs for being biased and the judges for being inept, what do I do now?

Re: FNORDs 2010
Whoa whoa whoa. Now, I got no problems with it being a group effort on that one, because I sure couldn't have done it all myself. But if we're coming up with a list of names for those responsible for Bastion, I should probably be on the list for being the person who actually came up with said idea and started talking to people to hammer it into reality.Artz wrote:new idea: andreas and ari rahikkala together for the megaboard merge thread about the merger

Re: FNORDs 2010
Also, some of my own nominations:
Graphic Arts: Demon of Fides for various 3-D models of proposed Nelagan vehicles. These are a bit scattered around, but http://nelaga.info/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=999 is a good place to start looking. Also, Jonas for his work on an artist's interpretation of the Jasonian War. http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/8413 ... olutie.png
Liam conToketi Award for Most Promising New Micronationalist: jackmorres for "Apparel Growing in Vietnam" http://nelaga.info/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=460
Bill Dusch Award for Cultural Development: Greg of Shireroth for MASSDIN. This is technically November of 2009, but it wasn't even nominated last year or some reason (?!?!), so I feel okay about tossing this in here. http://www.micras.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3931
Josh Coales Award for Best New Idea: Scott, for QUARREL. http://nelaga.info/viewforum.php?f=44 . Technically should be a joint award between him, myself, and Andreas, but since I can't nominate myself and I already have Andreas up for the Stod award, just Scott will do.
Iain Jacobson Award for Journalism: Christopher of Antica for Antican Roundtable
Shane Odlum Award for Overall Achievement: If Andreas hasn't won it yet, I definitely want to nominate him for continuing his micronational excellence in general. He could also be dominated for leadership, economics... in fact, basically every category we have other than the newbie stuff.
Also, wasn't there at one time a category for conflict resolution? I remember that I won that as my first and only FNORD in the first year's runnings. I have some people I'd want to nominate for that category, should it be brought back.

Re: FNORDs 2010
Yes, there was the Charles Beard Award for Conflict Resolution (or something to that effect).
And the panel can award the RIMA Award for Excellence in Micronational History this year as I've been too limited in my participation to have kept up on the local happenings in that area this year.

Re: FNORDs 2010
The time limit is and always has been very strict, so I'm afraid MASSDIN can't be nominated. Last year you did the RetroFNORDs, maybe you could do these again?
Re: FNORDs 2010
How long is the nomination phase on for?
I'm thinking for Andreas.. as hes on LOA til the 11th and he may wish to nominate.

Re: FNORDs 2010
Well the awards are announced in the New Year (on Emperor Norton Day), so really up until the end of December would be fine.
Thank you Lewis

Re: FNORDs 2010
I'm flattered but the currency mod isn't even mine and the stealing thing is such a massively unused feature that I've actually disabled it (it served no real purpose I think). If you want to nominate me for economics, nominate me for something worth the judges time. The NoRSE is something I would feel a lot better about if I actually won because I actually made it and have actually gotten Hamland to use it. I even have a foreign company (Hammish Oil) about to use it after the next updateArtz wrote:I nominate: (I'll get links to things later..and put them in with an edit)

Re: FNORDs 2010
I already got a joint FNORD last year on the rather flimsy premise of one post that essentially did nothing but establish a name for the Small Commonwealth... I don't think it'd be right for me to be in this group just because I complained about the number of forums early on. Harvey and Andreas should have all the honour here.Artz wrote:new idea: andreas, Harvey and ari rahikkala together for the megaboard merge thread about the merger
